I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 134: Chapter 115: Eve of the Typhoon, School of Yellowtail

After the tide shifted to a neap tide, his normal daily fishing catches were also impacted.

Along the Fengqi Coast, he still couldn’t manage to unlock the last two entries for Elite Bosses in his Index. It was supposed to get harder toward the end, but Gu Nan’s luck had also been particularly bad.

There was also always one daily task at Seven-Star Rock that he couldn’t complete—the four-star Index unlock task, which had the highest Gold Coin reward.

Even so, it only took Gu Nan three days to save up enough Gold Coins for a full set of purple equipment, because he could finally sell his blue gear.

Selling the blue equipment netted him 9,600 Gold Coins. Combined with the 8,150 he had saved, he had more than enough.

He spent 16,000, leaving him with 1,750 Gold Coins.

A complete set of purple rock-fishing gear was true perfection; pairing it with a blue reel had always felt awkward.

Now, his Big Fish Bonus was 40%, his Rare Fish Bonus was 24%, and he had +10 daily guaranteed catches on the Fengqi Coast.

Set Bonus: Daily guaranteed catches on the Fengqi Coast +5, Elite Fish hook rate +15%, and a reward of 2,000 Gold Coins.

That brought his Gold Coin total to 3,750. Most importantly, the increased Elite Fish hook rate meant he could add many more varieties to his seafood shop.

In just a few days, the shop renovations were completed. The counter was moved over to where Ji Jinxin’s old shop used to be.

With the expansion, even after Yi Chen luxuriously assigned only one type of fish to each tank, there were still many empty ones left.

Unfortunately, by the time he had assembled the full purple set, it was already past two in the morning, and his boat was still at Seven-Star Rock.

Gu Nan couldn’t be bothered to go back to the fishing spots on the Fengqi Coast, so he decided to head home and rest. He would try out the new rod the next day and, while he was at it, finally unlock all the Elite Fish in the Index.

...

”Ah Nan, let’s go! I got word that a school of yellowtail amberjack has appeared in the deep sea. Get over to my boat, quick. We’re going fishing.”

At nine the next morning, Gu Nan had just gotten out of bed and was about to head to the shop when he got a call from Guo Xiao.

His luxury fishing yacht was much larger than Wang Junhe’s, measuring 18.3 meters in length. It was a Class II vessel, capable of deep-sea travel.

”Brother Guo, isn’t there supposed to be a typhoon coming? Is it safe to go into the deep sea?” Gu Nan was tempted by the school of yellowtail amberjack, but the typhoon warning he’d received yesterday made him hesitate.

”The typhoon won’t enter our waters until the day after tomorrow. Look where it is now. What’s there to be afraid of?”

”This school of yellowtail probably entered our waters to escape the typhoon. If we miss this chance, we might not get another one.”

”Besides, we’ll head out today and be back by noon tomorrow at the latest. The wind and waves aren’t even that bad right now. Don’t worry!”

It was true that medium and large fishing vessels in international waters would be heading back around this time, but the large boats in domestic deep-sea areas weren’t in a hurry yet. Only the smaller transport ships that couldn’t handle rough seas would return early.

Gu Nan had seen Guo Xiao’s boat before. It cost over ten million yuan, so its seaworthiness was naturally impressive. It could handle today’s Level 5 or 6 winds, no problem, and would even be fine if they picked up to Level 7 or 8 tomorrow.

Besides, the weather right before a typhoon passes is often deceptively calm. Given that, heading out now and returning tomorrow should be perfectly safe.

”Alright, I’ll grab my things and head over,” Gu Nan said, no longer hesitating. Since it was an overnight trip, he’d need to pack a change of clothes.

’This trip is also a good chance to scout the offshore terrain for the future.’

’It doesn’t matter if I waste today’s guaranteed catches. My hauls during this neap tide have been poor anyway, aside from those guaranteed catches.’

The yellowtail amberjack in the school averaged around ten to twenty-something jin each. Fresh, they were more expensive than greater amberjack, selling for 100 yuan per jin on the market during the current fishing ban. They were typically used in high-end restaurants and Japanese eateries.

As for greater amberjack, the starting price for chilled ones at Yangjiang Port was 80 yuan per jin, and some shops might charge a bit more.

Once the fishing ban was lifted, these types of fish would flood the market, and the price would drop by 20 or 30 yuan.

The cheapest was the Japanese amberjack, which could be found everywhere online for only about 10 yuan per jin.

Gu Nan had learned all this from Zhao Jie. When he went to pick up some small, ten-jin yellowfin tuna, they were only seven or eight yuan per jin—incredibly cheap.

After washing up and getting ready, he sent a message to Yi Chen letting her know he wouldn’t be at the shop today. Then he went to his boat to grab his tackle box and both of his fishing rods.

Guo Xiao’s boat had extra electric reels, so Gu Nan could mount his boat rod on the gunwale and fish automatically with one.

He didn’t need to bring any coolers; for a trip like this, they would definitely have different colored zip ties prepared to tell everyone’s catch apart.

Guo Xiao’s boat was docked at another pier, a hub for luxury yachts and fishing boats—a gathering place for the wealthy.

When Gu Nan arrived, he saw boxes of squid bait being loaded onto the boat.

It could be used as bait, but it was mainly for chumming.

”Brother Guo, Brother Wang!”

”Ah Nan’s here. Should we get going?” Wang Junhe asked, looking at Guo Xiao.

”Yep, everything’s ready. Let’s go!” Guo Xiao nodded, went over to close the small gate by the steps, and then returned to the wheelhouse to set off.

Gu Nan followed him in, curious to see how operating a Class II fishing boat differed from his own.

But after watching for a while, he realized they were basically the same. ’Looks like the controls for fishing boats under 24 meters are pretty much standardized.’

The fishing yacht slowly began to accelerate after leaving the pier. Its cruising speed was 18 knots, which wasn’t slow at all.
