I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 105: Chapter 98: Sneakily Ruining the Fish While the Boss Is Away (Part 2)

”And just as you’re about to eat, the boss comes back. The audience will definitely want to know what happens next.”

Yi Chen nodded repeatedly as she listened. She immediately thought the plan was great. The fish wasn’t an issue either; at worst, it could be deducted from her salary.

But knowing Gu Nan, she was sure he wouldn’t mind sparing the fish as long as her channel took off and promoted the seafood shop.

She waited and waited, but after a long while, there was still no follow-up. Yi Chen couldn’t help but ask, confused, ”So what happens after the boss finds out?”

Jin Enfei spread her hands. ”I came up with this plan on the spot. I haven’t figured out how to shoot the follow-up yet.”

Xu Zhina, sitting to the side with her chin in her hand, also offered some suggestions.

”I think the follow-up will require Gu Nan’s cooperation. At the very least, he has to appear on camera and act like he’s been conquered by the delicious food.”

”Right, that ’tough at first, but gives in later’ kind of scene. But he seems really against being on camera. He’d always avoid it whenever possible in past videos. I don’t know if he’ll be willing now.”

”I see!” Yi Chen was lost in thought.

’This plan sounds like it has potential,’ she thought. ’It might not go viral, but I feel like it could steadily increase my follower count.’

Just then, Jin Enfei seemed to think of something and added, ”Also, there’s a problem with your filming. It’s too serious. No one wants to watch videos like that.”

”You need to interact with the camera, as if you’re interacting with the audience. And your voice needs to be sweeter, your speech more playful.”

”You have great looks, so your makeup and clothes need to be on point, too. That will make you more appealing.”

Yi Chen felt a slight headache coming on. All this latter advice sounded like a lot of trouble, especially the makeup part. She barely knew how to do it and almost always went bare-faced.

But as Jin Enfei looked at her face, she suddenly became very curious to see what she would look like with makeup on.

As a makeup guru, she had always been very passionate about this.

If it weren’t for seeing so many female classmates in China running to the cafeteria in their pajamas, she would have thought going out bare-faced was incredibly rude. That’s just how the culture on their peninsula was.

”Yi Chen, how about I do your makeup for you?”

Hearing this, Xu Zhina, who was beside them, immediately grew interested. This was a perfect opportunity for her to learn.

Ever since getting to know Jin Enfei, she had thought her makeup looked very natural and had been wanting to discuss the topic with her for a while.

An Jun and Ye Jing arrived at the beach carrying supplies, only to see Jin Enfei putting makeup on Yi Chen.

The two men were slightly speechless. ’Women will be women. We come out for a nice beach foraging and cookout, and they suddenly start doing makeup.’

”Okay, all done! Oppa, and Ye Jing, you’re just in time. Come see the makeup I did for Yi Chen. Does it look good or not?”

Just then, Yi Chen turned her head. A flash of amazement crossed Ye Jing’s eyes, but with his girlfriend right next to him, he immediately looked away.

An Jun stared blankly for a moment, then put on an expression of utter grief.

”Oppa, what’s with that reaction?” Jin Enfei was confused by him. She walked over to his side, sounding slightly displeased.

But with that slight pout and the way she grabbed his arm and shook it gently, was she really not just being coy?

Women from the peninsula were indeed quite skilled at this. The reason An Jun got together with her wasn’t just because of the ”nationality bonus”; he was also a huge fan of this kind of behavior.

As for whether her face was fake, he couldn’t care less, as long as he never had to see what she looked like before.

”I was just marveling at how skillful your little hands are. I like it a lot.”

”Oppa, you’re so... naughty!”

Yi Chen took in everyone’s reactions and, full of curiosity, opened her phone’s camera. When a delicate face that was both unfamiliar and yet vaguely familiar appeared on the screen, she froze. ’Is that really me?’

She couldn’t quite describe the feeling, but... she really liked it.

After this little interlude, the group started getting busy on the beach.

The two men went to prepare the seafood, while the women chopped up the meat and vegetables Gu Nan had bought and skewered them on bamboo sticks.

Gu Nan didn’t fish for too long, packing up his rod around five o’clock.

His haul from the two and a half hours was pretty good. He had caught a total of thirty-seven red seabream and two Sea Bass that had intercepted the bait.

The fish were all between one and three pounds each, so none were particularly large, but they could still sell for two or three thousand yuan.

But Gu Nan had spent over nine thousand yuan just to fill up the fuel tank earlier.

The outboard motor on his boat used about a hundred liters of fuel per hour on average in cruise mode. A brand-new motor might be a little more fuel-efficient.

With diesel at 7.52 yuan a liter, today’s round trip would cost at least fifteen hundred yuan.

And that was for a nearby spot. If he were to cruise around a bit during the day, two or three thousand, or even four or five thousand yuan, would be gone just like that.

It was only because Gu Nan had a ”cheat” that guaranteed he would always turn a profit that he could afford this. Otherwise, he’d have to be like other boat owners and rent out fishing spots for a stable income.

He started to inflate the inflatable dinghy. His was an automatic air pump, so he didn’t have to stomp on it himself. The dinghy filled with air quickly.

Gu Nan steered the boat toward the shore. When he was about thirty meters away, in water only about twenty meters deep, he dropped the anchor and stopped the boat.

He brought the inflatable dinghy to the steps of the aft deck and lowered it into the water, quickly tying a rope so it wouldn’t drift away with the waves, then grabbed the last of the things he needed to bring.

Arriving on the beach, he pulled the dinghy onto the sand and brought his things over to their campsite. When he saw Yi Chen’s face, Gu Nan was clearly taken aback.

”So? Does she look good or not?” An Jun had been waiting to see Gu Nan make a fool of himself, and seeing his reaction, he immediately sidled up to tease him.

Gu Nan nodded without the slightest hesitation. ”She looks good.”

”Ooooooh~” Seeing how direct he was, the others all started whooping and hollering.

Only Yi Chen stood there, a little flustered. ’Did he have to be so direct?’

But thanks to the ”assists” from their friends, the relationship between the two of them seemed to be growing a bit ambiguous.

Gu Nan just smiled and naturally stepped forward to start helping out.

He could guess Yi Chen had been teased quite a bit today. If he were to confess his feelings in a situation like this, some girls might get caught up in the emotion of the moment and agree on the spot.

But they would most likely regret it afterward. A relationship that develops slowly is more mellow; there’s a lot of truth to the idea of love growing over time.

With six people working together, a spread of delicious food quickly appeared on the table.

The ingredients today were all fantastic, especially the seafood, which was worth several thousand yuan all together. Eating it was just an incredible feeling.

As the sky began to darken, they slowed their eating, mainly because they were all getting full.

At that moment, Yi Chen came to his side. ”Boss, Enfei gave me a really good idea for a video today. I think we should give it a try.”

”Oh? What’s the plan?” Gu Nan’s curiosity was instantly piqued.

The ”Most Beautiful Fishmonger” plan hadn’t succeeded, and he had already given up on video promotions. He never expected this new turn of events.

Seeing he was interested, Yi Chen pulled both Jin Enfei and Xu Zhina over and began to explain the plan they had roughly discussed that afternoon.

”I happen to be free for the next few days, so I can come over and teach Yi Chen how to film with more charm and show her how to be more appealing,” Jin Enfei said, thinking of Yi Chen’s previous videos.

”Really? Enfei, wouldn’t that be too much trouble for you?” Yi Chen said, pleasantly surprised.

”It’s fine. I know you’re a great cook now, so you can just make me some delicious food in return.”

”Mhm, I guarantee you’ll be satisfied.”

A smile played on Gu Nan’s lips. He hadn’t expected An Jun’s new girlfriend to be just a pretty face. This Jin Enfei seemed pretty all right so far.

As for whether the two of them would last, he thought it was unlikely, but that was none of his business.

After enjoying the sunset, the group packed up and returned to the boat. By now, the sky was completely dark. Gu Nan started the fishing boat to take them back to the dock first.

As for himself, he was, of course, going to continue fishing out at sea!

Now that he had a boat, he refused to believe the Indian marlin would still be so hard to catch.

「At 7:30 PM」

He dropped them off at the dock. Yi Chen had Ye Jing give the others a ride home since he was heading that way. After they had all left, Gu Nan steered the boat out to find a suitable fishing spot.

He couldn’t be too close to shore, but he also couldn’t go too far and leave the map’s range.
