His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1916: Chapter 549: I Told Her I Was Worried My Wife Would Catch a Cold (Second Update)_5

Mu Yichen furrowed his brows, his gaze toward Qin Mu was still as probing.

”Hmm!”

Qin Mu nodded, then looked outside: ”How are we going to get there?”

Mu Yichen sighed helplessly; he was too eager to see her and had exited when the driver stopped at the entrance. He forgot he needed an umbrella to get to the parking lot, especially since he was only wearing a shirt today and had no jacket. He certainly couldn’t strip down in this place.

”Wait!”

Mu Yichen glanced inside and then asked her to wait before walking back in.

Qin Mu stood there waiting, watching his figure gradually head toward the service desk.

He quickly borrowed a blue umbrella; whether he used his charm wasn’t clear, but the nurse on duty blushed and watched him swooningly as he walked back to Qin Mu.

Qin Mu suddenly thought, why not just go to the obstetrics department? Helian Hao probably has a spare umbrella there. Why let other girls look at him several more times?

Mu Yichen walked over, opened the umbrella, and then took her hand, walking out together.

”What did you say to her?”

Qin Mu instinctively hugged his arm and asked him.

Mu Yichen stopped in the rain, looking particularly serious: ”I told her I’m afraid my wife might catch a cold!”

Qin Mu...

The sound of raindrops hitting the umbrella was a bit irritating, but their world remained silent.

”Oh!”

Qin Mu responded, sensing he was waiting for her to say something.

When they returned to the car, Qin Mu’s face was still a bit flushed, unexpectedly hit with a sugar-coated bomb, difficult to digest.

Mu Yichen drove, Qin Mu sat in the passenger seat; the car sped slowly, Qin Mu watched the rain outside for a while and then told him: ”You don’t have to take Mingzhu’s words to heart.”

”When have I ever taken her words to heart? Except when she calls me brother-in-law!”

Mu Yichen glanced at her before looking forward again.

Qin Mu lifted her head to see his indifferent expression, sighed: ”Well! You shouldn’t worry about Wang Mingyu either?”

She tentatively asked, though her tone was close to coaxing.

Mu Yichen listened, feeling pleased inside, yet still remained silent, focused on driving.

”If you go home upset like this, mom will blame me again!”

Her hand reflexively went to hold his arm.

Mu Yichen said nothing, only looked at her at the traffic light: ”Are you coaxing me?”

Qin Mu...

”What if I am?”

Though she disliked being like this now, if he had a knot in his heart, hers would be even bigger. She thought, the knots were already enough, better not add more.

”Then let’s see how you behave!”

Mu Yichen still so cold, giving no face to Mrs. Mu.

Qin Mu’s eyes widened at him, really wanting to dissect him with her gaze.

The rain poured harder; fortunately, before they arrived home, Qin Mu received a WeChat message from Qin Mingzhu—Wang Huanyu had arrived.

”Wang Huanyu is at the hospital!”

Qin Mu mentioned, of course to Mu Yichen.

Mu Yichen looked at her in the rearview mirror, didn’t respond, and the car slowly drove into the massive Mu Family yard.

After getting out, Mu Yichen went to the passenger side to open the door for her, holding an umbrella to shield her.

Qin Mu exited, still clinging to the crook of his arm, sticking close to avoid the rain.

Mu Yichen remained silent, his expression wasn’t right, yet he didn’t push Qin Mu away.

Chengcheng and Huanhuan were waiting for Qin Mu; once she returned, the little ones surrounded her asking about their brother, and Qin Mu told them he was fine, greeted the elders, and led them upstairs, hand in hand, for sleep.

Tonight, Chengcheng wanted to sleep with Qin Mu, Huanhuan stuck out his tongue: ”Brother, you’re so weak! Then I’ll sleep by myself. Goodnight, mom!”

Huanhuan said, then went into his room alone, now independent as Mu Chenghuan.

Meanwhile, Chengcheng remained Chengcheng, wanting to sleep with mom.

Qin Mu stayed with him on the bed, knowing she hadn’t spent time with the kids lately; next business trip, she’d bring Chengcheng along, still young and fond of being with her.

But would Mu always agree?

Agree that she’ll take the son but not him?

Mu Yichen thought bringing Qin Mu home meant he’d be able to cuddle her to sleep, only for their son to intercept halfway, leaving him frustrated, tossing and turning post-shower, nearly going out to discipline the boy.

Thankfully, after Chengcheng fell asleep, Qin Mu dutifully returned to their room. He pretended to be calm, already in sleepwear, leaning against the headboard scrolling on his phone, as if he were just browsing, not waiting.

”I’m going to shower, sleep if you’re tired!”

But Qin Mu’s words revealed she’d seen through Mu’s act.

Though, when she returned from her shower and got into bed, Mu Yichen hadn’t slept.

Qin Mu looked up, seeing him in the same position, only now watching her instead of his phone.

”Sleep?”

Qin Mu asked him.

”Hmm!”

Mu Yichen turned off the light, came closer!

Quiet! Shift! Shift again! Silent!

On the soft bed, the man forcefully embraced the woman into the bed center! Sleep!

”Mu Yichen!”

”Don’t talk! Relax! Be good!”

In the dark, he stopped her husky voice from continuing, his graceful fingers gently combing through her hair, coaxing.

——

Next Day, Morning, sunlight bright, everything felt renewed after being cleansed, clear and pleasant.

At nine, Mu Yichen arrived at the office on time, Yang Qin had already prepared the documents and entered as soon as he sat down.

”Boss, these are the documents you need to sign today. The CEO of Juyuan booked lunch with you two days ago; you agreed. In the afternoon, there’s a small meeting. At eight in the evening, the Jia Family’s son scheduled a visit to the club last week with you.”

”Cancel tonight’s event; tomorrow noon I’ll invite Jia’s son to golf, but remind him, he cannot bring more than two people.”

Just as Yang Qin was thinking of dissuading him from canceling the club appointment, he’d already decided otherwise. Yang Qin nodded: ”Okay! I’ll take care of it!”

After Yang Qin placed the document down and left, Mu Yichen immediately immersed himself in work.

Zhao Huai arrived to find Yang Qin at the desk, on the phone confirming something, and walked over intending to greet her. Yang Qin finished the call quickly, smiled, asking: ”Anything you need?”

”Seems like you’re in good shape; I have nothing more to say!”

Zhao Huai initially thought she’d have difficulty overcoming grief from her grandmother’s passing, yet seeing her working diligently felt his concern was misplaced. He glanced at the office: ”Mu’s inside, right?”

”Yes!”

Yang Qin confirmed.

”Make a cup of coffee for me as well; I’ve got important matters to discuss with Mu.”

Zhao Huai seriously told her before turning away.

Yang Qin never made mistakes at work; she sensed Zhao Huai was serious, so she hurried to make coffee for the boss and Zhao Huai.

Zhao Huai knocked on Mu Yichen’s door, then opened it: ”Am I coming in?”
