His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1689: Chapter 471: The Beginning and the End (17)_2

In his lifetime, he probably rarely cooperated with others; it was always others cooperating with him.

However, he would cooperate with Qin Haiming for her sake.

When they got back and the car stopped, Qin Mu didn’t wake him up. She saw through the large window that Mu Zihao and Feng Fanghua were still sitting there waiting, though the old man had gone to sleep.

And she, she kept watch by his side.

Qin Mu quietly turned her head to look at him, then gently leaned back against the seat. Her back felt a little cool at first, but soon it felt better.

When Mu Yichen was awakened by a series of messages, Qin Mu also opened her eyes.

Mu Yichen glanced at his phone. They were all messages of blessings, so he wasn’t in a hurry to respond. He always disliked these superficial gestures, but there were always mischievous kids who liked to disturb his peaceful dreams.

He put his phone back in his pocket, turned to look at Qin Mu, and noticed she was a bit weary, with dark circles under her eyes.

”Why didn’t you wake me up?”

Mu Yichen asked lightly, adding a thin layer of frost to the quiet car cabin.

”It’s quite nice to stay in the car for a while!”

Qin Mu replied softly.

”Let’s go!”

Mu Yichen said nothing more, just opened the door and got out of the car.

Qin Mu also opened the car door, put on her bag, and got out, following him inside.

Feng Fanghua and Mu Zihao had just been whispering about the two of them, wondering why they stayed in the car instead of coming inside, but didn’t expect them to finally come in.

”Thought you two would spend the night in the car!”

Feng Fanghua teased the two people in the living room.

”Tired, let’s talk tomorrow!”

Mu Yichen still replied blandly, as if he had no energy, and after speaking, went upstairs.

Qin Mu stood there for a moment and nodded.

”You should go too; your mom and I will keep watch here!”

Mu Zihao said to Qin Mu in a low voice.

”Okay! Good night, Mom and Dad!”

Qin Mu agreed, then turned around and followed Mu Yichen upstairs.

As expected, he was tired. He didn’t even take a shower, just undressed and went straight to bed.

Qin Mu stood by, watching, and sighed softly without a sound.

She went to take a quick shower, using hot water to ease her slightly stiff body, before getting into bed.

Feeling much more comfortable, she lay down beside him, turned off the light, and closed her eyes, gazing at the ceiling.

Perhaps the day was too hectic, making it easy to fall asleep so quickly.

Involuntarily, she turned over and moved into his embrace.

Mu Yichen, whether asleep or not, raised his hand to hold her close.

Those actions seemed so familiar, so was it a dream, or was he awake?

In his arms, warm, Qin Mu fell asleep in less than a minute.

——

Perhaps because it was New Year’s Day, she woke up when the sky was just starting to lighten.

However, when Qin Mu woke up, he was no longer in bed. Feeling a bit nervous, she sat up, her body heavy with fatigue, lips painfully dry, until she heard the sound of running water from the bathroom, easing the burning ache in her back a little.

The tall man came out after his shower, wearing only a pair of black boxers, drying his hair, looking refreshed. When he looked up, he saw her sitting on the bed, gazing weakly at him.

”If you’re tired, sleep a little longer!”

Mu Yichen said.

”Mu Yichen!”

Qin Mu suddenly called his name, though her voice was weak.

Mu Yichen’s dark eyes looked at her, waiting for her to continue.

”Happy New Year!”

Qin Mu said softly again. It was New Year, and the two of them hadn’t wished each other a Happy New Year!

In the past, all she wished for during the New Year was to see him face to face and wish each other a Happy New Year.

Thinking of this, Qin Mu suddenly felt she should say it first.

After wishing it for so many years, now she finally could. If she didn’t say it, she would feel inadequate.

Mu Yichen’s dark eyes flickered briefly, then he slowly walked towards her.

Oddly, these ordinary words now felt a bit difficult for him.

As a child, he hated New Year the most. He had to come back to accompany the elders, while she stayed in Paris alone. Every year, after the New Year, he would rush back and wish her a Happy New Year. But now, she was beside him, in his bed, wishing him a Happy New Year, and at this moment, he didn’t know how to say it to her.

”Happy New Year!”

But after walking over, he simply followed his heart, gently holding her face, planting a loving kiss on her warm forehead, and tenderly wished her a Happy New Year, speaking from the heart.
