His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1659: Chapter 463: The Beginning and the End (9)_2

What charm could someone that old have? Could it possibly surpass her husband’s allure?

”Hmph! Grandpa is indeed very charming. That kid’s got at least half of my charm. When he grows old, he’ll definitely be like me. Just you wait!”

The old man said to Qin Mu.

Qin Mu glanced at him with a cool, indifferent expression, then smiled lightly at Grandpa, responding, ”Hmm! I’ll be waiting!”

Mu Yichen was initially a bit depressed, but then he thought about how Grandpa was talking about when he’s old, and she said she’d be waiting, meaning she would spend her life waiting for him. Mu Yichen suddenly felt a bit better.

”Weren’t we going to eat? I’m hungry!”

Mu Yichen said indifferently, feigning coldness, and turned to walk toward the dining room first.

Qin Mu chatted with the old man as they followed him.

”What are your plans for today at home?”

The old man asked Qin Mu as they sat down.

”I could read some books, do some drawings. If Grandpa needs me, of course, I’ll keep him company first! It’s vacation time after all!”

Qin Mu continued to chat and laugh with the old man.

Mu Yichen kept listening intently but didn’t hear anything about himself, and his face turned even more sour.

”Hmm! Then play some chess with me, watch some shows, or maybe you could teach me to surf the internet?”

”Sure!”

Qin Mu agreed gladly, seeing how interested the old man was.

”This feels nice, with your mother-in-law not at home, just the three of us, it’s quiet, and we can do whatever we want!”

The old man unintentionally lowered his voice at the mention of Feng Fanghua.

”Hehe!”

Qin Mu dared not say anything rash, merely smiled at him.

”By the way! What’s your plan, young man? You shouldn’t go out in this weather, just stay at home!”

The old man turned to look at his grandson and asked.

”What else can I do at home? Just read some books and play chess with you?”

Mu Yichen glanced at the old man indifferently, feeling a bit unhappy because the old man always occupied his wife.

”I’d rather spend time with my granddaughter-in-law!”

The old man was not pleased to hear this and made his stance clear.

Mu Yichen...

Qin Mu couldn’t help but chuckle softly, but she immediately lowered her head.

Nonetheless, the old man and Mu Yichen seemed to be teasing each other.

All morning, they played chess, chatted, surfed the internet, while Mu Yichen huddled in a corner of the sofa with a cushion, frowning and watching TV.

Qin Mu and the old man occasionally chatted, but their voices were always so soft that Mu Yichen couldn’t hear clearly, which made him quite frustrated inside.

After noon, the old man went back to his room for a nap. Qin Mu washed her hands, just sat down on the sofa, when she heard her phone ring. Rubbing her hands together, she walked over and saw Xiao Wei’s name displayed on the screen. She bent down to pick it up, her expression already somewhat tense by the time she answered.

From the sofa, Mu Yichen seemed asleep with his back to her. Afraid he would catch a chill, Qin Mu threw the nearby blanket over him and walked toward the window to take the call.

”Hello?”

”Qin Mu, is there any news about Jian Yan?”

Xiao Wei asked worriedly, so anxious she couldn’t even sleep.

”Not yet! But Master won’t be in any trouble, he probably just wants some time to himself, so don’t worry too much.”

”His stomach problems keep flaring up, how can I not worry?”

Xiao Wei, somewhat agitated, stopped herself, biting her lip to keep from saying more.

Qin Mu also fell silent for a moment, feeling as though she wasn’t as concerned about Jian Yan as Xiao Wei.

”I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to! I’m just genuinely worried about him!”

After calming down, Xiao Wei spoke again to the phone.

”It’s okay! But what good does worrying do now? We can’t reach him, detectives can’t find him, and Mu Yichen is also seeking help to search for him, but there’s not a single clue!”

Qin Mu spoke with her head down, feeling a bit dejected as well.

She thought perhaps the pressure had gotten too much for Jian Yan, causing him to disappear suddenly?

But he ought to give them a timeframe, leaving like this, making them worry, it’s just...

Qin Mu’s breathing became somewhat shaky, standing by the window, looking out at the snow.

Outside, it was so cold and gloomy, but the snow had stopped, making the entire yard seem like it was freezing over.

”So what do we do? Just wait for him to come back? What if something happens to him out there...”

Xiao Wei suddenly fell silent again.

Qin Mu listened over the phone, hearing what seemed like Xiao Wei suppressing her sobs, her breathing turning shaky too, as she covered the phone’s microphone with her hand.

”He won’t be in trouble, he won’t just let himself get into trouble, trust me!”

Qin Mu thought for a moment, but still felt the need to reassure her, since Xiao Wei was pregnant and couldn’t handle any stress.
