His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1677: Chapter 468: The Beginning and the End (14)

When Mu Yichen came home with the kids in the evening, he was shocked. One side of the living room was filled with unopened bags, looking like they were mostly clothes and shoes, with some expensive jewelry.

The elders sat on the couch in silence, worried and ignoring him upon his return.

But all that was unimportant. What made him anxious was that his wife wasn’t there. Was it because she saw him with Jing Qing?

”Grandma, what’s wrong? Why is everyone quiet?”

Huanhuan ran to Feng Fanghua’s side, looking up at her and asked softly.

”Grandma is confused!”

Feng Fanghua explained good-naturedly to her granddaughter.

”Confused? What does that mean?”

Huanhuan asked, blinking her beautiful long eyelashes.

”Confused means there are things Grandma doesn’t understand and is waiting for your mom and dad to explain!”

Feng Fanghua continued explaining to her granddaughter, also using it as a way to let her son know her thoughts.

The old man sat silently on the couch, eyes lowered, saying nothing.

Mu Yichen walked over and sat beside them, asking only, ”Where’s Qin Mu?”

”Hmph! Now you ask about her? Where did you run off with the kids all day? I called you this afternoon telling you to come back, why didn’t you?”

Upon hearing Mu Yichen finally speak, Feng Fanghua didn’t care what he said and began questioning him rapidly.

In Mu Yichen’s dark eyes, there was a trace of frustration, not understanding why Madam Feng was this upset.

”Well, you should ask your grandson and granddaughter!”

Mu Yichen deflected all the responsibility onto his son and daughter.

”Ask my grandchildren? Which of them aren’t afraid of you and don’t listen to you? Using them as a shield, only you could think of that!”

Feng Fanghua continued criticizing Mu Yichen.

Mu Yichen was already in a bad mood, and being mocked by Madam Feng only made him more upset. But seeing everyone so depressed, he didn’t lose his temper.

”I’m back!”

Just when the tension in the room was becoming suffocating, Qin Mu came back, looking quite cheerful, carrying a bag of roasted sweet potatoes, a purse slung over her shoulder, dressed in her pink coat, looking youthful and vibrant.

However, upon entering the living room and seeing everyone so sullen, she couldn’t help but tense up inside. Yet she still managed to smile and sit beside Mu Yichen, placing the roasted sweet potatoes on the coffee table. Glancing at the unopened bags and boxes, she asked in mild confusion, ”The gifts I bought for you all, haven’t they been opened?”

”We don’t need them!”

Before anyone else could speak, Feng Fanghua cut off Qin Mu with a single sentence.

Qin Mu immediately felt guilty and sat quietly without a word.

Huanhuan and Chengcheng felt a bit uneasy, torn between staying to listen to the adults or leaving. The siblings exchanged a glance, then Huanhuan looked up at Feng Fanghua, ”Grandma, I want to go take a bath with brother.”

”Go ahead!”

Feng Fanghua, moved by her granddaughter’s sensibility, replied gently, and the nanny took the siblings upstairs.

”Nanny Wang, will Grandma and Grandpa spank Mom and Dad?”

But as they went upstairs, Huanhuan worriedly asked the nanny.

”Of course not! They just need to have a serious meeting, that’s all.”

The nanny softly reassured them.

But hearing the child’s question downstairs made everyone’s heart ache a little.

”Mom, I really wanted to buy that mall for you, but when I approached the owner, they said they didn’t want to sell, so...”

Qin Mu wondered if they could open one themselves.

”Are you trying to drive me crazy?”

Feng Fanghua felt a rush of blood to her head, surprised Qin Mu took her offhand comment seriously.

Upon hearing Feng Fanghua’s angry question, Qin Mu clammed up again, sitting quietly.

”Mumu, what’s with all these packages today?”

The old man sighed, not asking what he really wanted to, and instead asked something trivial.

”It’s New Year! I helped out at the store for a bit and noticed everyone was buying like crazy. Today’s foot traffic was several times the usual! I thought, as a woman, I should join in. It’s been a long time since I bought everyone gifts, I just couldn’t help myself!”
