Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1495: Chapter 24: Blitzkrieg (7)

The streets of Phoenix City have become deserted.

Aside from some citizens with nowhere to go, waiting in prayer for the war to end, the entire city is left with only a few guard units.

Maybe using the word ”guard” isn’t accurate, as anyone can see that just one or two Mechanical Infantry Groups can’t even guard a corner of the city’s outskirts. Rather than saying these units are left to defend against the enemy’s attack, it’s more like they’re maintaining order in Phoenix City, or simply existing to prove that the city is still under control.

The citizens don’t know the military’s plan. They just silently watch the empty streets and the equally barren trenches and defense fortifications in the city suburbs. It seems the scene of the Allies’ bustling activities still lingers before their eyes, where energetic young soldiers lined up at their camps, basking in the sun by the trenches, and curiously looking around the streets.

Now, they are all gone, disappeared. It’s like a castle has had its reassuring walls dismantled, with people standing inside, looking at the familiar yet strange wilderness, feeling a void in their hearts.

In just a few hours, this city is undefended!

No one knows where the troops have headed, and even less about what the future holds for this city. Everyone just knows something major must have happened, and a great battle must be occurring somewhere.

The dice of fate have been cast, spinning slowly, unwilling to come to a halt.

Helpless, people can only peer around in prayer, waiting for the dust to settle, hoping the end of the road reveals their triumphant troops or the grotesque and vicious Mecha of the Suss.

No one will sleep tonight.

Contrary to the empty city streets, the Front Command headquarters is now overflowing with people.

The explosive expansion of SkyNet has brought about an explosive increase in personnel. Not only have the once idle headquarters members been fully engaged, but Chen Fengxi also ordered the allocation of nearly 400 staff from various divisions. Adding in the guards, Electronic Soldiers, communication soldiers, and engineering soldiers, the former auction hall has become unbearably crowded.

Various voices mix together, turning this once quiet place into a bustling marketplace.

As the bustling staff struggle to even turn around, the command finally, with the help of an engineering battalion, activated an underground garage reinforced into a bunker. That still wasn’t enough, and a few hours later, a central courtyard surrounded by four beige buildings was also filled with expanded Command Mecha.

Countless types of SkyNet equipment were directed by sweating logistics officers as soldiers moved them around. After the Electronic Soldiers responsible for installation connected the power and finished testing, waiting deputies quickly sat down to start intense work.

As the equipment increased, SkyNet’s ever-extending reach became ever more powerful.

”Beep,” on the screen, yet another gray area lit up as the detector revived, merging into SkyNet’s infinitely extending information antenna.

Rows of data rapidly changed on the map.

This is the energy and electromagnetic indicator data returned by the detector. After processing by the SkyNet Central Computer, it quickly reflects whether battles occurred nearby, whether troops have passed, based on its decay rate and content.

With the detector’s micro radar and counter-detection disturbance devices restarting, it means that the control over the area’s information is firmly in the hands of the Fei Alliance SkyNet.

When this detector was successfully activated, the SkyNet’s functional data on the main screen jumped once more. Seventy-two percent of the data made a group of electronic engineers at the console cheer uncontrollably.

Currently, the Fei Alliance Joint Army holds absolute information control, while the Western Alliance might still be gazing blankly at a pitch-black SkyNet. Information asymmetry often implies the scale of victory is tilting!

Sweat pouring down like rain, with hair messier than a bird’s nest, the engineers reached out to roughly tousle a little boy’s golden hair, pinching his chubby cheeks between seven or eight hands. Looking back, no one could believe that in just a dozen hours, they, under this magical little boy’s lead, accomplished this miraculous campaign.

In this smoke-free battlefield, they breached strongholds and continuously broke through the opponent’s blockade, activating one information terminal after another. They peeled away the curtain of darkness shrouding the battlefield.

Although it’s not hand-to-hand combat, it was more thrilling and exciting than piloting a Mecha into battle!

Watching the jubilant engineers and the perplexed little boy among them, Chen Fengxi and Pierre exchanged a smile.

When it comes to warfare, those technical personnel who only know programs and data wouldn’t even scratch the surface. But in this campaign, they were the first to complete their battle.

It was their hard work that allowed the headquarters to quickly understand everything happening on the front lines, helping the Staff Department formulate correct battle plans and allocate troops with numerous precise data supports.

The hopes of victory are slowly and steadily increasing.

Ann Lei pushed back her chair and stood up from the SkyNet information desk. After whispering a few words with several other liaison officers, she quickly walked towards Chen Fengxi.
