Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1481: Chapter 16: Before the Great Battle (Part 3)

A damaged Green Mecha stood by the roadside. A medic, drenched in sweat, was bandaging the wounds of a bandit army mecha pilot who had narrowly escaped death. The young bandit army mecha soldier watched the focused medic calmly, while the passing Feiyang soldiers cast unabashedly admiring glances at this bandit army mecha pilot.

All around, countless pieces of debris of various sizes were scattered. Bits of broken steel parts lay quietly in the craters, while numerous large wreckages were still burning, emitting thick black smoke.

The logistics soldiers cleaning up the battlefield maneuvered engineering mechas back and forth across the terrain, carefully lifting the bodies of their fellow soldiers onto transport mechas. However, when it came to the enemy’s corpses, they were less courteous and simply tossed them onto trucks. The pile of bodies accumulating on the heavy trucks was enough to make anyone feel uneasy.

Ultimately, some enemy corpses and mecha wreckages received special treatment.

Pereira’s gaze swept past the field filled with mechas, soldiers, and billowing black smoke, finally landing on several black wreckages enclosed by isolation nets.

Those were the wreckages of the Judger Mechas.

Half an hour ago, fifty Judgers experienced a massacre on this battlefield.

Yes, even now, Pereira struggled to accept the reality, yet he had to admit it was a genuine, unequivocal massacre.

Back then, he stood on the slope of Bear Mountain, watching the hemispherical light clusters rise from the ground in the distant city, sweeping across the earth. He witnessed the crisscrossing energy cannons in the sky, and the swarming shadows of mechas and soldiers, continuously surging.

The Western Alliance Armored Forces launched a furious and wild counterattack along the central highway.

They led the charge with fifty Judgers, assuming a forced assault posture. The relentless electronic attacks, overwhelming artillery barrages, and continually accelerating armored groups seemed unstoppable.

Pereira witnessed the Judger’s battle for the first time. He couldn’t imagine the nightmare he would face if the opponent of these fifty Judgers were the 33rd Army. In front of these terrifying mechanical soldiers, ordinary mechas seemed as vulnerable as barehanded children facing professional killers. That overwhelming supremacy could not be compensated for by any tactics.

At that moment, Pereira’s heart froze. He had never known that the mecha warfare he had been familiar with for two years now had evolved to such a terrifying degree.

He had no doubt that given enough space, these damned Spartan Warriors could tear apart the entire 33rd Army!

It was then Pereira witnessed three hundred Rampage Mechas, like devils, plunge down the hill towards the forefront of the Western Alliance’s counterattack.

That was a battle so breathtaking that Pereira still found it thrilling upon reflection.

He couldn’t articulate it in words; he simply committed to memory each scene, continuously recalling them.

... Energy cannon light chains pierced the night sky; missiles suddenly appeared from the sky, fiercely shooting into the ground; the light of explosions illuminated the distant horizon. Hundreds of steel machines ran, leapt, and shifted directions at unfathomable speed and agility across the wilderness...

... Countless mechanical legs trembled the earth. The suspension system softly absorbed the intense vibrations of running, while external transmission rods swiftly stretched and contracted. Missile launchers extended from hidden compartments during the sprint, and ion light sabers grew brighter as distances closed...

The mechas of both sides, advancing rapidly, finally collided. In an instant, it was pandemonium!

Illusory figures swapped positions at will, shifting into alternate places. Ion light sabers and ion daggers cleaved through the dense darkness, casting countless dazzling arcs of light.

Those beautiful yet deadly, dreadfully cold maneuvers, the suddenly bright stabbing white light amidst the melee mecha group, and the burning, meteor-like shards flying off... Pereira believed that decades from now, when the thousands of officers and soldiers standing here this night were too old to walk, nobody would forget this scene.

Everyone just stared blankly at the struggle, watching two different black mechas display such irresistible combat power right before their eyes.

The battle process was enough to be shocking, yet even more so was the outcome!

The Judgers were formidable. But what they faced were equally formidable opponents, outnumbering them manyfold—the bandit army Special Forces Camp’s Mechanical Gods!

The bandit army rampaged, striking full force at the moment of the battle’s inception. In just ten minutes, fifty Judgers were overwhelmed, rendered as if chopped up by vegetables under the assault of three hundred Rampage Mechas.

The result was so unbelievable that the warriors present couldn’t trust their own eyes.

They weren’t a bunch of pigs. Those were the Judgers, whose name alone could terrify most army commanders in the Fei Alliance! Their name derived from their mighty capability to make judgments over anyone!

Yet now, before they could make a judgment, they were executed. Three hundred Rampage Mechas of the bandit army ruthlessly exploded them.

At this moment, seeing the Judger Mecha wreckages, Pereira finally realized this wasn’t a dream.

In terms of combat power, the Judgers were no inferior to the bandit army. But in terms of coordination, fighting skills at close range, and mecha performance, the bandit army surpassed them, unmatchable by the speed-dependent Judgers.

More importantly, the bandit army seemed to possess a miraculous ability to summon Lady Luck. This capability often allowed them to evade mortal threats or seize perfect killing opportunities amid their opponent’s mistakes.

The Judgers, persistently erring at crucial moments, met with a far more numerous enemy at a wrong location and suffered slaughter—it was hardly surprising.

The mechas roared incessantly beside him. The shouts of junior officers and the clamor of soldiers resounded through the night, full of high spirit. Pereira gazed at the steel torrent surging towards the city amid gunfire, contemplating repeatedly the battle plan given to him by the Vice Admiral named Tian Xingjian, a Fatty with a sincere face.

This insane battle plan, as agreed upon by Chen Fengxi and Pierre.

When fifty legendary Judgers debuted before his eyes only to end in such a tragic manner, what reason did he have to refuse?

All that remained to anticipate was a looming great battle over the next few dozen hours!

Win or lose, at the very least, it would be sensational!
