Chapter 1455: Chapter 4: Confidence

”No way!”

Pierre flatly rejected Fatty’s plan: ”This plan is too risky. We should focus on defense now. Concentrate our forces and drive the enemy out of the Frenso region, rather than trying to swallow them whole.”

His words drew agreement from many around him.

”Indeed, our forces are currently at a disadvantage, and the defense line is already stretched thin. If we can’t swallow the opponent whole, a drawn-out battle will be very unfavorable,” a Colonel from the staff frowned and said.

”The enemy has three armored divisions. Even if they are besieged in Frenso Town, we don’t have enough forces to crush them,” another Army Major General said after quickly calculating, shaking his head.

As soon as the Major General finished speaking, an Army Vice Admiral standing beside him pointed to the electronic sand table, worriedly saying: ”Don’t forget, the Judgers have appeared. Since those guys showed up here, this operation won’t be a simple one. Bellif in this direction surely has heavy reinforcements following.”

”Two armored divisions can’t possibly complete such a heavy task. If the Judgers break through the defense line, the three divisions deployed by the 33rd Army will also be in great danger,” a voice from the officers’ circle said.

A Major General from Knevel also chimed in: ”There’s not enough time either. Look, using one division to strike from the flank defense line, we need to first crush Jiepeng’s 1912 Division before we can insert northward. By the time we reach west of Frenso, the Western Alliance’s subsequent forces will probably have already blocked the passage.”

The Knevel Major General’s words drew nods from the crowd.

A Chuckna Major General said to Fatty: ”General Tian, this plan is too adventurous. I suggest we split into two routes. The 33rd Army attacking from the northeast of Fren Town, and the bandit army from the east-southeast of Frenso Town, forming a pincers attack to retake the defense line. If we block the enemy’s retreat, these bastards might just go mad and fight desperately.”

For a moment, the generals and staff surrounded the electronic sand table, all speaking at once, with diverse opinions.

Amid the clamor, Pierre watched Fatty coldly, snorted, and if it weren’t for his familiar compatriot Margaret beside him, he couldn’t help but curse.

This Fatty’s plan, rather than daring, was more akin to reckless nonsense.

Although he had also heard rumors about the bandit army’s mecha soldiers, he simply couldn’t believe the bandit army could use one division to hold off repeated attacks from three Western Alliance armored divisions armed with Judgers!

Moreover, since Bellif was using three divisions and the Judger Force here, a fool could guess how many Western Alliance forces would swarm in afterward. Blocking the west of Frenso Town with another division is just wishful thinking!

This isn’t just a theory, not boasting, not a joke; this is war, with people dying every second!

Fatty sacrificing his own two divisions wouldn’t be much, but if it leads to the collapse of the defense line, it would be an unforgivable crime worth a thousand deaths. Now, the Leifeng Star Army’s forces are extremely valuable. They must not be used recklessly!

”Recklessly?” Fatty said innocently: ”How can such a safe plan be considered reckless?”

Pierre was furious and almost slapped Fatty’s face. Even an idiot could see what’s happening, yet this guy dared to lie with his eyes wide open.

Having served for many years, graduated from the Military Academy as a Lieutenant, and climbed to his current position step by step, Pierre relied on his rigorous style and solid military theoretical foundation. He always respected warfare. He couldn’t stand people like Fatty who made stupid suggestions without thinking, gambling with soldiers’ lives.

If he were on the battlefield, even if he was sent to a military tribunal, he would shoot this kind of person in the back. He absolutely wouldn’t allow his soldiers to be sent to die by such a fool’s casual words!

”As if General Tian yourself isn’t fighting on the front line,” Pierre resisted the urge to curse, sarcastically said: ”You are far from the bullets and shells, so of course, you don’t think it’s reckless.”

”Who said I’m not going?” Fatty laughed, showing his white teeth at Pierre: ”The Judger Force, I happen to want to experience it.”

”You?” Pierre looked at Fatty’s pudgy face, just about to mock, when he suddenly remembered hearing that this guy was a Mechanical God. On Canglang Star, he had always been in the front lines, the Jiepeng Second Armored Division fell to this guy and the Mechanical Gods he led, and this time they brought five hundred of the latest Twelfth Generation Mechas.

Pierre eyed Fatty up and down, his gaze flickered. He couldn’t connect the much-talked-about person from the rumors with the plump, simple-looking Fatty before him.

Having fought on Leifeng Star all the time, Pierre had heard of the bandit army but was too preoccupied with the dire war situation to care about someone from a small country like the Leray Federation. No matter how it’s exaggerated, he’d just laugh it off. Rumors always bizarrely amplify things. In this world, those heralded as geniuses, praised as great generals, how many fail utterly and never rise again?

Seeing is believing. Any achievement only represents the past. To earn respect, one has to show substantial proof. However, he won’t give this guy the chance to wager five armored divisions to prove himself.

Pierre thought arguing with Fatty here was a complete waste of time, and he impatiently waved his hand: ”General Tian, you should quickly organize your troops. I have prepared a set of materials from the Staff Department regarding the front line battle situation. After you read it, you will have a deeper understanding of our circumstances. Maybe, only then, will you truly understand our plight. As for Frenso Town, the 33rd Army will go up there. I hope your troops are prepared to assist us at any time.”

”Sir!” Fatty stood at attention and saluted: ”Commander.”

Pierre was taken aback, ”I am not the commander...” Before he could finish, he awkwardly stopped talking.

The girls next to Fatty were biting their lips, their faces flushed red. Fatty is a scoundrel. Anyone who gets into an argument with him ends up in an embarrassing situation.

To be honest, he treats Pierre fairly well. Although Pierre is somewhat stubborn, he at least considers the soldiers and the battle situation. He doesn’t have the selfish and arrogant demeanor of some people, nor does he disregard the larger situation for personal gain. If faced with such a person, Fatty would have already spat in their face.

Realizing he had overstepped the role of the chief of staff, Pierre blushed.

For someone as rigorous as he is, such mistakes are almost impossible. No wonder Fatty used such a way to embarrass him, knowing his identity originally didn’t permit him to boss Fatty around.

The documents sent from the command center specifically mentioned that Fatty had absolute independent command over the five armored divisions he led. In other words, not only can the chief of staff not control him, even the Front Army Commander Chen Fengxi couldn’t control him. If he were to recklessly engage with the troops or charge directly into the Western Alliance Command Center, no one could utter a word of disagreement.

As allies of allies, no communication with the bandit army can be carried out without negotiation.

Moreover, more importantly, Chen Fengxi is the highest military official, and before he has expressed his opinion, what Pierre said was indeed overstepping.

Seeing Pierre’s red face, Chen Fengxi shook his head with a wry smile.

This chief of staff from Feiyang, proud and stubborn in character, has the common shortcomings of most Feiyang people. However, he is not a bad person, and his military knowledge is very high. In these days, as a partner, Chen Fengxi witnessed Pierre being incredibly busy. He didn’t have time to focus on the bandit army, while Chen Fengxi received a lot of intelligence in this regard.

Thinking of the information given to him by Li Hongwu, Chen Fengxi’s gaze was tightly fixed on the electronic sand table.

In theory, the possibility of Fatty’s plan succeeding is almost zero. However, according to the Chuckna Military Department’s assessment of the bandit army’s combat capability, this plan... is incredibly tempting!

Recently, the Front Army has been adopting a defensive stance. Pierre and Chen Fengxi have tried every means to fix loopholes. Although it is safe, the consumption of troops is still alarming. If in the next month there are only the reinforcements from the five divisions of the bandit army, it is almost certain that relying on the current tactics, they won’t last until the reinforcements arrive.

To endure for a month, they must land some heavy blows on the enemy!

If Fatty’s plan succeeds, although the three armored divisions and one Judger Armor Company wouldn’t count as a magnificent victory, they could still boost morale and confound Bellif for a good while!

Not to mention......

”General Chen,” Fatty quietly leaned to Chen Fengxi’s ear, whispering like a thief: ”This is a good opportunity. If we can’t achieve a convincing victory in a short time, once the third batch of reinforcements without the Leifeng Star quota is exposed, this battle can’t be fought.”

Chen Fengxi squinted, closely observing the seemingly foolish Fatty.

Fatty isn’t as dull and confused as he appears on the outside, this guy is a genius!

Thinking of Fatty’s information, and remembering how Fatty’s fleet had just taken down Auben, Chen Fengxi felt a rush to go all out regardless of the consequences.

This guy, with only ten Mech Knights and a few Mechas on Canglang Star, was able to turn the tide across regions. If his knights had even half the capability of his Mechanical God Mechas... two divisions, tens of thousands of troops... that’s a terrifying force. And Military God Hastings and Marshal Li Cunxin sent him here under such circumstances, basically declaring his ability to Chen Fengxi!

Chen Fengxi felt his heartbeat quicken, he gritted his teeth, asking Fatty: ”General Tian, this isn’t child’s play. I want to know, how confident are you?”

”If the opponent only has three divisions and one Judger Armor Company, I’m percent...” Fatty proudly waved his hand with five fingers....

Fifty percent? Everyone was surprised. Although the confidence isn’t high, it’s enough to take a chance.

As this thought flashed through their minds, they heard Fatty bragging: ”I am five hundred percent confident, to squeeze this bunch of bugs into juice!”
