Chapter 2099: Taking Over a Faction From Inside (2)

The two famed commanders came just as Tang Shaoyang said. Niko Bohumir of the Bohumir House and Osmund Duval of the Duval House entered the confinement room. They had a regretful look on their faces, shaking their heads as they entered the room.

These two came to deliver the dire news about his execution. However, they didn’t just bring the execution news, but his family would be executed along with him to bear the sins of the soldiers who died under his leadership.

Niko and Osmund were surprised by how calm their friend was. They expected Alger to be outraged, but he was weirdly calm. They felt like this was not the same Alger they knew.

”Are you okay, Alger?” Osmund put his hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort his friend, ”We did our best to convince the King to pardon you, but he didn’t listen to us. The Left and Right Ministers convinced him that everything is your fault, and it’s better to attack the Tang Empire again with our full force.”

”Have you heard anything from the Ridian Kingdom? What about the Crazules Kingdom?” Alger wanted to confirm Tang Shaoyang’s information, ensuring that he was not being lied to.

Niko and Osmund exchanged glances for a moment, unsure why Alger asked about that. However, they didn’t mind sharing about that. It was not like Alger could use that information to escape or something.

”We haven’t informed them about our decision, but we believe the Crazules Kingdom will not stay still. Crown Prince Aggy was killed along with the other nobles’ scions. They will attack the Tang Empire to avenge their deaths. We know how much the King of the Crazules Kingdom loves his son.”

”As for the Ridian Kingdom... We haven’t informed them of our decision yet. However, we believe they will join us too. They don’t have a choice but to join us unless they want to quit our alliance, which I think is not a good idea.”

The answer didn’t entirely confirm whether Tang Shaoyang was telling the truth or not, but Tang Shaoyang didn’t lie about the Crazules Kingdom.

”What about you two? Do you agree to launch another attack on Tang Shaoyang? Do you think it’s the right move to do so?” Alger asked a different question this time.

It started to feel like it was them being questioned by Alger, ”What is this, Alger? Are you okay?”

”Can you just answer this dead man’s question?”

Osmund was disturbed, but Niko shrugged. I guess it made sense that their friend started to act weird, knowing tonight was his last night.

”I don’t think we should attack the Tang Empire. Even if we can take the Tang Empire’s territory, I don’t think we can kill the Executive Administrator. If we can’t kill the Executive Administrator, it will be just a matter of time until he returns and attacks our kingdom. We have told the King many times about it, but Your Majesty just doesn’t listen to us. I think your action this afternoon really enraged him.”

Alger Balaban took a deep breath and closed his eyes. In this moment, he was making the most important decision in his life.

”Don’t even dream of taking the Tang Empire’s territory, Niko, Osmund! We have no chance to succeed, but we are given another chance to alter that future. We can change so that we don’t have to go to war against the Tang Empire! The future where we don’t have to lose our family and home!”

Niko and Osmund were confused at first, but then the realization hit them. They realized what Alger tried to say. Their eyes widened in shock, not expecting to hear that from Alger.

”I accept your offer, Sir!”

Tang Shaoyang appeared behind Niko and Osmund. The two immediately sensed his presence because he didn’t really try to hide his presence. They jolted around and were in shock to see the unfamiliar face.

They quickly turned around to their friends, pointing their fingers at Alger accusingly, ”You betray the kingdom!!!” Osmund raised his voice, loud enough for the guards outside to hear him. However, there was no movement from outside because Tang Shaoyang had set up a soundproof barrier.

”I am saving the kingdom, Osmund. He is the one who wiped out my army and almost killed me. He is Sir Tang Shaoyang! Don’t bother fighting him! You should be thankful that he didn’t kill you when you entered this room!”

Niko and Osmund were ready to fight, but then the realization sank in. Their friend was right. If Tang Shaoyang wanted them dead, they would be ambushed and killed right away instead of showing himself.

From that moment, Alger repeated what Tang Shaoyang told him. He told his friends about the plan, how they would replace the King, the person with the highest authority in the kingdom, with a council, and so on.

”Don’t you have your people in the Ridian Kingdom, Niko? Why don’t you contact them to confirm Sir Tang Shaoyang’s words if you don’t believe him? It should not take that long, no?” Alger voiced out a suggestion because neither of his friends believed the information.

Niko did exactly as Alger told him to. It didn’t take long for him to get the answer. Within less than five minutes, he got the confirmation about the Ridian Kingdom, which was still in an assembly.

However, they were not discussing whether to attack the Tang Empire or not. That discussion was over a long time ago. The current meeting talk was about the compensation they wanted to give for the Tang Empire. That confirmed the Ridian Kingdom wanted to rectify its relationship with the Tang Empire.

Niko looked at Tang Shaoyang in disbelief, but then he realized how scary the person in front of him was to be able to sneak into the heart of the Auriga Kingdom without getting noticed. If this person wanted to, he could assassinate all the important figures by himself.

”I will not give you any more time. Either you join your friend there, or never leave this confinement alive!” Tang Shaoyang seemed to be able to read what was in Niko and Osmund’s minds. The two wanted more time to think about it, but Tang Shaoyang didn’t want to give them that time.

”Don’t even bother to think about it. Join me, Niko, Osmund!” Alger knew that his friends just needed a push, so he would give that push, ”You have seen how easily King Reginal threw me away. It will be the same for you two. The moment those two ministers find the chance, they will get rid of you two as well to gain full influence in the kingdom!”

That was the final push that both needed. The trio were comrades in arms before becoming the commanders they were now. That was the reason why they were close instead of becoming rivals. The ministers took that as an obstacle to them, and there were multiple occasions where they tried to replace one of them.

Niko and Osmund were hesitating at first, but they ended up agreeing. That was when they found that they just needed to sign a normal System Contract. That was something they often used as a lie detector. The trio signed the contract, and Tang Shaoyang stored it.

”Do you bring the key?” Alger pointed at the chain on his ankle. That chain drained his energy as well as his strength.

Before Niko and Osmund could answer, Tang Shaoyang reached the chain. The moment he touched the chain, it broke apart. At that moment, Niko just took out the key from his inventory. The same key fell when he saw what happened.

”Is that even possible?” Osmund muttered. Because the moment they touched it, their energy and strength would be drained as well. That was something they designed to detain a God Rank, after all.

”What should we do now, Sir?” Alger was no longer surprised.

”Simple. You just need to point me to the obstacles that will stop you from forming the council after the King is gone. The nobles or ministers, or anyone who will be your obstacles. At the same time, you need to bring the army to your side.”

Tang Shaoyang fell silent for a moment as he received a confirmation from his spirits, ”The King and his royal guards are dead.”
