Chapter 2127: Ice Palace (2)

The Ice Palace was renowned for its Ice Art, which focused on ice-based techniques. Also known as one of the major factions that accepts only females as its disciples.

Their cultivation techniques were specialized for women with purity as the foundation. They must maintain their purity to benefit from the technique. If they lost their pureness, the technique became much less effective.

They still could cultivate, but much more slowly. It was best to forsake the technique and learn other techniques instead at that point.

But if one fulfilled the condition and was talented enough, the Ice Palace’s cultivation technique was known for its quick growth spurt without needing to worry about their foundation.

Thanks to this technique, they were known as a faction that gave birth to a lot of True God Realm female cultivators. Compared to the other big factions, they might be one of the factions that produced the True God Realm.

However, their technique was not without a flaw. Once they reached the 3rd-Stage True God Realm, their cultivation would be slowed down. Even when they poured natural resources, it didn’t help them much.

The leader of the faction, The Ice Palace Mistress, was at the 5th-Stage True God Realm. The eight Elders of the Ice Palace were at the 3rd-Stage and 4th-Stage True God Realm.

Because of that flaw, there was a tradition within the Ice Palace that once one of the Elders broke through to the 5th-Stage True God Realm, the current Palace Mistress would leave the sect to look for an opportunity outside, while the 5th-Stage True God Realm Elder would take the seat for Palace Mistress.

Those who returned to the sect after their journey were given a position as a Grand Elder. They were the people who managed to break through from the 5th-Stage True God Realm. Currently, there were four Grand Elders, with three of them being at the 6th-Stage True God Realm, and the last one was at the 7th-Stage True God Realm.

The Grand Elder didn’t hold power within the sect, but the Palace Mistress would never ignore their influence on the sect. Most of the time, the Palace Mistress would seek the Grand Elder’s advice for a big matter.

Like what happened now, currently, Palace Mister Bing Ruohan was in a meeting with the four Grand Elders about the Murim Alliance’s situation.

It was not just about their people who were killed in the Dragon and Phoenix Tournament, but also about the sudden summons from the Alliance Leader she received a few hours ago.

”They haven’t given us any explanation about or taken accountability for what happened in the Dragon and Phoenix Tournament, yet they dare to summon us for questioning?”

Grand Elder Bing Ruyan responded in annoyance mixed with anger in her tone. She was the 6th-Stage True God Realm who just returned ten years ago.

”As if it was not enough what happened in the Golden Crane City, the case that remains unresolved until today. Now the Murim Alliance dares to summon them for questioning? This is ridiculous!”

”The Alliance Leader found a strong ice energy to the north of the Immortal City. He indeed asks me to come for some questions, but more importantly, he wants me to investigate that suspicious activity near the Immortal City.”

Palace Mistress Bing Ruohan explained to avoid misunderstanding.

”You are too naive, Ruohan,” The second Grand Elder Bing Xuexin shook her head, ”The Alliance Leader clearly suspected us of something. He might be in cahoots with those self-proclaimed great families.”

There was a history between the great family and the Ice Palace, a bad blood because the Ice Palace refused to take the great family’s member as their disciple, whether they were direct bloodline or not.

The reason for the refusal was that the Ice Palace didn’t want to leak their technique outside. Even if they put a ban on their disciples, they were not willing to take the other big faction’s members as their disciples.

They were concerned that the great family might have a way to bypass the oath. It was not impossible since they were a big faction.

That was when the Ice Palace’s relationship with the great families soured. That was why Grand Elder Bing Xuexin guessed this might be the great family’s scheme.

Palace Mistress Bing Ruohan was put in a tough position. On the other hand, she would like to maintain a good relationship with the Murim Alliance, especially the Murim Alliance Leader. He was the only one who could stop the great family from ganging up on the Ice Palace.

However, she agreed with the Grand Elder that the great family might pull some strings behind to put suspicion on them. Especially for the Jaegal, Situ, and Ximen Family. Those three families were outright hostile to them, even though they were part of the Murim Alliance.

”What do you think I should do, Grand Elders?”

Three Grand Elders turned toward one Grand Elder: Grand Elder Bing Lianxin. Among the four Grand Elders, Bing Lianxin was the only one to reach the 7th-Stage True God Realm.

She was the youngest among the four Grand Elders, but she was the highest in cultivation rank. The other three put her in high regard and wanted to hear Bing Lianxin’s opinion before voicing theirs.

That was the cue for her to speak, and Bing Lianxin opened her mouth, ”What do you have in mind, Ruohan? You have something in mind before coming to meet us, right?”

Bing Ruohan nodded and voiced out what was in her mind, ”Even if this is part of the great family’s scheme, I must respond to the summons and be ready for what they prepared for me...”

”Let’s hear what Ruohan has to say first, shall we?” Bing Lianxin raised her hand, stopping the other three Grand Elders from interrupting Bing Ruohan, ”She must have her own reason. Let’s listen to her first.”

The three Grand Elders had no choice but to agree with Bing Lianxin even though they wanted to rebuke Bing Ruohan.

”The Sacred Realm is in turmoil right now. The Heaven Founder is still running amok, attacking the smaller sects. Then there’s also this mysterious group we can’t identify. There are too many unknown variables on the table, and provoking the Murim Alliance will put us in a tough spot.”

”We can’t afford to make an enemy of the great families, let alone the Alliance Leader. If we don’t respond to the summons, that might give a reason for the great family to make a move against us. They might be sent here to investigate us instead. So it’s better to come to meet the Alliance Leader instead of provoking them. That’s my thoughts.”

Bing Lianxin agreed with Palace Mistress Bing Ruohan. In the current situation, it was better to stick together with the other orthodox factions instead of making them enemies.

Just like them, the Murim Alliance Leader didn’t really like the great family in the first place. The chance of Alliance Leader working together with the great family was low.

She was about to voice her agreement, but she was interrupted when the alarm bell rang. The bell echoed through the whole Ice Palace. All of them recognized the sound, an alarm they had never heard for a long time, an alarm when the Ice Palace was under attack.

Bing Ruohan rose from the chair and was about to leave the room to check what happened, but two elders barged in.

”We are under attack! The Heaven Founder is coming for us!”
