Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 448, Trapped in a Trap

Continuing forward, the number of Luminous Mushrooms became fewer and fewer.

Deep inside Dragon Fall Valley, at an unknown distance from the surface, the entire Dragon Fall Valley was almost completely dark, so dark one could not see their own fingers.

Although Lu Fan had Black Dragon Perception and could sense whether there were Monsters nearby, such poor visibility still made him uncomfortable. Thus, he took out a Monster Oil Torch from his Inventory.

This Monster Oil Torch was made from the oil of High Level Monsters. Not only was it much brighter than ordinary torches when lit, but it could also burn continuously for forty-eight hours.

Ye Wuxian had prepared this for him. At the time, Lu Fan thought it unnecessary to carry torches that would take up space in his Inventory.

Now, it seemed that women were far more attentive to details, and there was no harm in listening to them more often.

Lu Fan held the torch, letting his Golden Dragon King Jade Mirror Image Projection lead the way, gradually walking deeper into Dragon Fall Valley.

As he proceeded, Lu Fan kept hearing a kind of *rustling* sound coming from ahead.

But within the range of his Black Dragon Perception, there were no Monsters approaching. He thought there must be something moving ahead, as this sound was transmitted to Lu Fan’s ears through the stone walls.

The further he went, the more Lu Fan could feel these sounds rising and falling.

Eventually, these sounds gradually came from the stone walls above Lu Fan’s head and from behind him, giving Lu Fan the feeling that he was being surrounded.

It was as if there were a group of Monsters in Dragon Fall Valley, skilfully avoiding the range of his Black Dragon Perception, climbing the stone walls to get behind him, forming a trap to firmly ensnare him.

Lu Fan narrowed his eyes, remaining unchanged in the face of this constant change. He focused and worried less about these sounds while he continued forward.

Suddenly, Lu Fan became alert. Through his Black Dragon Perception, he sensed that something was stealthily approaching.

However, it did not seem to be a Monster, because its aura was extremely weak, even more difficult to detect than a Player with a Hidden Profession that specialised in Concealment.

It had not escaped Lu Fan’s perception. But before Lu Fan could see what was approaching him, he heard a soft *swoosh*, and something as thick as a chopstick suddenly leaped from the stone wall and stabbed toward the Golden Dragon King at the front.

A sudden attack was launched, fiercely stabbing at the Golden Dragon King’s chest.

Unfortunately, the Golden Dragon King’s scales were too hard. When this thing stabbed, it broke immediately without leaving any mark on the Golden Dragon King.

Lu Fan reacted quickly, having the Golden Dragon King extend his Dragon Claw to grab and forcefully pull it down.

It was certainly not as simple as it looked. After being grabbed by the Golden Dragon King, Lu Fan saw that it was a vine. This vine was almost pitch black, almost invisible on the dark stone walls. Without a powerful Detection Skill, it would be difficult to notice its existence.

Just now, it had stabbed at the Golden Dragon King, attempting a sneak attack.

Unfortunately, the Golden Dragon King’s defence was too high, and this vine could not break through.

Lu Fan immediately recognised that this matched the description of the Tree Monster in the Old Patriarch’s transcript.

The Tree Monster’s vines extended for nearly ten kilometres. Once someone entered within ten kilometres of the Tree Monster, they would be attacked by its vines.

At that time, Old Patriarch, along with two Fourth Profession Players, was ambushed. In the end, they had to use an Epic Grade item to escape from danger and continue forward.

These vines were merely branches of the Tree Monster’s body. Thus, their weak aura and difficulty to detect was normal.

Lu Fan was not angry at being attacked by these vines; rather, he was delighted. After all, it meant that if he walked about ten kilometres more, he would encounter the Boss that had defeated the three from the Ye Family.

“Xiao Ye, burn the vines!” At Lu Fan’s command, Xiao Ye opened her mouth and spat out her Dragon Breath.

The vine naturally could not resist and was instantly burned to ashes.

However, the vine extended forward from an unknown origin. After being attacked by Xiao Ye, the remaining part retracted like a tentacle and disappeared.

Lu Fan took out Underworld Serpent’s Cry and used Summon Divine Arrow to replicate Xiao Ye’s Great Cataclysm.

Fire Element Skills were naturally the most effective against Wood Element Monsters.

Great Cataclysm was a particularly powerful Area of Effect Skill, perfect for dealing with vines that came to ambush them.

Lu Fan led his Pet Dragons to accelerate forward, searching for the Tree Monster Boss.

Lu Fan did not go easy on them; whenever these vines dared to approach, he simply shot an arrow at them.

Wherever the arrows passed, they left a wall of fire, creating a Forbidden Area for the vines, making it impossible for them to get close, let alone harm Lu Fan and his Pet Dragons.

Lu Fan continued forward, almost unharmed, burning countless vines.

However, Lu Fan could sense that the further he went, the more numerous the vines.

Sometimes, when he shot an arrow, from the firelight, he could see the vines ahead. They were dense, covering the entire wall. They were constantly twisting and moving like a nest of vipers, making one’s scalp tingle.

Although the firelight made these vines fearful, causing them to retreat deeper into Dragon Fall Valley, it was obvious that Lu Fan would soon encounter something massive.

The further he went, the wider the walls around him became.

Finally, Lu Fan took a step forward and discovered a huge space ahead that resembled a plaza. From above, a beam of sunlight as thick as a football field shone down, illuminating the centre.

In the sunlight, a massive Tree Monster stood motionless, seemingly basking in the hard-to-come-by sunlight.

The appearance of this Tree Monster was exactly as described in Old Patriarch’s transcript. The trunk was pitch black, the roots were gnarled, resembling vines, crawling everywhere.

As far as Lu Fan could see, there were vines constantly squirming everywhere. Each one as if alive, seemingly ready to attack their prey at any moment.

As Lu Fan entered this area, these vines suddenly became alert.

Countless vines stood up like poisonous snakes, aiming at Lu Fan and his Pet Dragons.

Not only that, but behind Lu Fan, on the stone walls on both sides, the persistent *rustling* began to approach, gradually revealing their true forms.

As Lu Fan had expected, these sounds were made by those vines.

As soon as Lu Fan had stepped within ten kilometres of this Tree Monster, he had been targeted by these vines.

Besides the vines that attacked Lu Fan, there were also a large number of vines following closely behind him, laying out a wide trap.

And now, this trap was closing in, cutting off all routes of retreat for Lu Fan.
