Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 438, I’m Going to Dragon Fall Valley to Slay a Dragon

Translator: Silavin

So, Lu Fan asked, “Why are you looking at me like that, Senior Sister? You know about Dragon Fall Valley?”

“Yes… Of course…” Ye Wuxian’s expression became dark as she nodded, “Of course I know. My Grandfather’s death is related to Dragon Fall Valley.”

“Oh!?” Lu Fan was also greatly surprised. He had heard that Ye Wuxian’s Grandfather, the Old Patriarch of the Ye Family, had previously gone pioneering with two Fourth Profession Players from the Ye Family, but only he had returned with severe injuries.

At that time, the Old Patriarch of the Ye Family was not only injured but also seemed to be afflicted with multiple types of severe poison. None of the Ye Family’s Priests could do anything about it, and using any Cleanse Skills failed to remove the poison from him, ultimately resulting in his death.

Where exactly the Old Patriarch of the Ye Family went was known only to Ye Wuxian and a few core members of the Ye Family. Naturally, Lu Fan was not very clear about the details.

Now, it seemed that the death of the Old Patriarch of the Ye Family was deeply connected to Dragon Fall Valley.

When Ye Wuxian learned that Lu Fan intended to go to Dragon Fall Valley, her expression was clearly very resistant as she gravely asked, “What Mission did you take on that requires you to go to Dragon Fall Valley? Though you are very strong, I really don’t recommend going there.”

“The Map my Grandfather discovered in the Wilderness was Dragon Fall Valley. At first, he thought he might have discovered a Map Resource of inestimable value, but when he took Fourth Profession Players from the Family to explore Dragon Fall Valley, he discovered that it was actually a Forbidden Zone… No, it might be worse than any Forbidden Zone” As she spoke, Ye Wuxian began to slowly recount to Lu Fan what the Old Patriarch of the Ye Family had told them about the situation in Dragon Fall Valley while he lay in his sickbed.

Dragon Fall Valley was like an entrance leading to hell. It was immense in size. In fact, made of ravines, it was so deep the land itself seemed to be like mountain ranges. Furthermore, the space inside its depths was so big it could be called a canyon.

In it, there were countless High Level Monsters, and the most troublesome of all was that each Monster was poisonous. Fighting one was enough to warren a migraine. Once infected with the poison, it became very thorny to resolve.

The Ye Family did not have many Fourth Profession Players in the first place. However, each was an expert stronger than Loong Erhu.

It was for this reason that although the Ye Family had fewer Fourth Profession Players than the other two Ancient Noble Families, they could still dominate over them at that time.

Including the Old Patriarch of the Ye Family, three other Fourth Profession Players went pioneering together. Even if they encountered a level 95 Diamond Grade Boss, they were still able to kill the Boss.

However, in Dragon Fall Valley, they stumbled along, and after traveling only halfway, they were blocked by a powerful Boss.

According to the Old Patriarch of the Ye Family, it was a strange-looking plant, like a black tree with gnarled roots that resembled vines, which covered an area of ten kilometres.

It was already very terrifying by itself, and it also carried frightening poison.

The Old Patriarch of the Ye Family, with an exploratory attitude, wanted to see if they could kill the Boss and continue forward. Unfortunately, this Boss was stronger than they had anticipated, killing the other two Fourth Profession Players with just two Skills.

The Old Patriarch of the Ye Family knew that his strength was not enough to kill it. In fact, even survival would be difficult. So, he could only choose to flee.

However, during the escape, a vine like a spear pierced his chest.

Though he managed to escape from Dragon Fall Valley with his tenacious vitality, the vine’s deadly poison had already invaded his internal organs, and he soon died in the Ye Family Residence.

Notably, before leaving Dragon Fall Valley, the Old Patriarch of the Ye Family had heard a Dragon Roar from deeper inside the valley.

Naturally, the Old Patriarch of the Ye Family deduces that there must be an extraordinary existence in Dragon Fall Valley. If it could be exploited, it might be an enormous opportunity!

The Old Patriarch hoped that the Ye Family could advance to the next Tier and become a Second Tier Ancient Noble Family by making use of his findings. Thus, before his death, he orally recounted everything he knew about Dragon Fall Valley, which was recorded by the Ye Family and sealed in the archives. He hoped that in the future, the Ye Family could cultivate more experts to explore Dragon Fall Valley more thoroughly.

If Lu Fan wanted information about Dragon Fall Valley, Ye Wuxian only needed to go back and search a bit to find it.

The archives included information such as the location of Dragon Fall Valley and details about some of the Monsters there.

However, after Ye Wuxian finished talking about Dragon Fall Valley, her expression remained serious as she said, “Dragon Fall Valley is considered a secret of our Ye Family… but if it’s you, I would naturally tell you everything. Despite this, I do not wish for you to go. Junior Brother, that place is too dangerous. Although you are strong, how hazardous Dragon Fall Valley remains unknown, and it would be too risky for you to rashly enter. I can’t even fathom what kind of Mission you must have taken for it to require you to go there.”

Lu Fan smiled and said, “My Mission is unique. It’s a Night Terror Mission.”

“…Night Terror!?” Ye Wuxian was stunned; obviously, even she had never heard of ‘Night Terror Missions before.”

Lu Fan’s next sentence shocked her even more, almost making her unable to sit still.

“I’m going to Dragon Fall Valley to slay a Dragon!”

“What!?” Ye Wuxian’s eyes widened into perfect circles, unable to believe what Lu Fan was saying.

Lu Fan smiled. He felt there was no need to hide anything from Ye Wuxian, so he directly showed her the Explorer’s Journal and the Night Terror Mission.

After reading through them, Ye Wuxian’s facial expression was exceptionally wonderful.

“You… truly live up to being a Dragon Tamer. To think you are  able to receive such a Mission. Others haven’t even seen a Dragon, but you’ve managed to get a Mission to slay one… If you really complete this Mission, I can’t imagine what Rewards you’ll receive.”

Lu Fan put away the Explorer’s Journal and grinned, “Right? This is a great Mission. Actually, I hadn’t planned to do it before reaching my Fourth Profession Change. But, the Explorer’s Journal says that the Devouring Dragon King – Maw of the Abyss is severely injured and close to death. For Adult Giant Dragons like them, once the injury is considered to be severe, it definitely won’t recover in just a year or two.”

“If I want to complete this Mission, this is an excellent opportunity. If I miss it and the Devouring Dragon King recovers from its injuries, then killing it would become much more difficult.”

“So, I plan to make a trip to Dragon Fall Valley, find the Devouring Dragon King, and slay it!”

After hearing this, Ye Wuxian rubbed her temples and said, “Wait a moment… I still can’t accept the fact that you’re going to slay a Dragon. Moreover, the place where you want to go to slay a Dragon is a Forbidden Zone that caused many Fourth Profession Players, including my Grandfather, to perish. This is way too dangerous for you.”
