Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 435, An Opportunity to Slay a Dragon

Translator: Silavin

When he first received this Mission, Lu Fan was surprised. At the time, he was not aware of a difficulty beyond Nightmare. This new difficulty was something called Night Terror.

Later, Lu Fan had checked many records at Dragon Capital University, but he still could not find any information about Night Terror Missions.

Eventually, Lu Fan figured it out. Night Terror Missions were likely too difficult, and in the normal world, where Fourth Profession Players were the ceiling of Combat Power, sudhc a difficulty was absolutely Unclearable for them. As such, it made sense that there were no records about them.

It was obvious that a Mission requiring Lu Fan to kill a Giant Dragon, and specifically a Dragon King, was absolutely the Highest Difficult Mission in the world!

In fact, after seeing the Mission Requirements, Lu Fan had quietly placed the Mission Item, the Flying Dragon Divine Tree Seed used to collect the Devouring Dragon King’s blood, at the very bottom of his Inventory. He actually had no intention of ever taking it out again.

After all, how strong were Dragons? Others might not know, but how could Lu Fan not know?

Although his Pet Dragons were powerful, they were only in their Maturing Phase! If they encountered an Adult Dragon, and a Dragon King at that, even with Lu Fan’s multiple Pet Dragons, they probably would not be a match.

To complete this Mission, Lu Fan estimated he would need to wait until he reached his Fourth Profession Change to have any hope of Clearing it.

What Lu Fan had not expected was that in the Explorer’s Journal, he would actually find clues about the Devouring Dragon King.

[Is this fate?]

Through the journal, Lu Fan obtained a lot of information.

First, the Devouring Dragon King that Lu Fan needed to kill for his Mission should currently be in Dragon Fall Valley at the Western Border. Furthermore, according to the journal, the text was dated to January, Dragon Country Calendar Year 589, and now, it was already April, Dragon Country Calendar Year 590.

It had been just over a year since the journal’s owner had entered Dragon Fall Valley.

For the Dragon Race, a year was merely a moment. The Devouring Dragon King was likely still in the Dragon Fall Valley.

If Lu Fan only knew that the Devouring Dragon King was in Dragon Fall Valley, he would not have been too concerned.

He was more than aware that at his current Level, trying to kill an Adult Giant Dragon would be suicidal.

However, according to the journal, the Devouring Dragon King had fallen and created that Valley after fighting against two other Giant Dragons. Moreover, in that battle, the Devouring Dragon King apparently had not fared well.

One had entered Dragon Fall Valley but flew away after a few days, suggesting it was the ultimate victor of the battle.

As for the Devouring Dragon King, it had not done too badly, achieving a decent result of killing one and one injuring the other.

The Explorer’s Journal clearly recorded that the Devouring Dragon King was severely injured and close to death, which was why the journal’s owner had dared to approach and attempt to use his Taming Skill on it. He had hoped to capture it as his Summon.

If it had been an Adult Giant Dragon at its peak, Lu Fan would definitely stand no chance against it. However, if it was a severely injured Giant Dragon that was close to death, Lu Fan felt he could at least give it a try.

After all, Lu Fan now had many cards up his sleeve, with a total of eight ‘Dragon Kings’ under him. Even if he could not win, escaping should not pose a problem.

If by chance, he could actually kill the Devouring Dragon King, then Lu Fan would complete this unprecedented Night Terror Mission. Then, he would only need to find the Life Dragon King – Root of Everything to receive his Rewards, which should be beyond his imagination!

[This is such a rare opportunity. It is hard not to be tempted by it!]

After thinking it over several times, Lu Fan decided that since he had learned about the Devouring Dragon King’s almost fatal injuries, he could not let such a valuable opportunity slide. No matter what, he should at least try going to Dragon Fall Valley.

Besides, with Xiao Cui’s Eternal Guardian and Xing Chen’s Starry Space Passage, he could always escape if he could not win!

Thus, Lu Fan made up his mind. After leaving the Flying Immortal Ancient Shrine, he would go look for the Dragon Fall Valley.

Although the journal did not record Dragon Fall Valley’s exact coordinates, Ye Wuxian had access to all the resources of the Three Ancient Noble Families. If they searched through the materials, they should be able to find clues about Dragon Fall Valley.

Of course, Lu Fan was not a reckless person. He was not about to let having eight Pet Dragons go to his head. He was not expecting to charge straight into Dragon Fall Valley and kill the Devouring Dragon King without any prior preparation.

From the journal, Lu Fan knew that the journal’s owner had been part of a full team of Fourth Profession Players.

Such a team could steamroll through any country. Yet, after entering Dragon Fall Valley, they had suffered casualties, and when they encountered the Devouring Dragon King, they were all killed in one move.

The dangers of Dragon Fall Valley and the Devouring Dragon King were obvious.

Although Lu Fan’s strength was now far beyond that of a full team of Fourth Profession Players, if he really wanted to go to Dragon Fall Valley, necessary preparations could not be neglected.

[Later, I would need to ask Ye Wuxian for two Random Teleport Scrolls.] Having made his decision, Lu Fan put away the Explorer’s Journal. His next destination after this has been decided upon.

Just as Lu Fan had put away the Explorer’s Journal, a golden light suddenly flashed on Ji Ji, who was timidly interacting with her Brothers and Sisters. She had Levelled Up.

This left Lu Fan confused; he had not taken Ji Ji monster hunting, so how had she suddenly Levelled Up?

After investigating, he discovered that in the Flying Immortal Ancient Shrine, not only was he gaining Experience Points, but his Pet Dragons were as well.

Ji Ji was only Level 1, and the Experience Points needed to Level Up was not high, so she had gained a Level while Lu Fan was examining the Explorer’s Journal.

Lu Fan thought this place was quite amazing. [To think staying here without doing anything was equivalent to grinding in a Dungeon. This is just perfect for those who love to remain idle.

[This works out well for me.] All of Lu Fan’s many Pet Dragons could now gain Experience Points. Right now, coming to the Flying Immortal Ancient Shrine, perhaps no one would benefit from it more than him.

Lu Fan decided not to recall his Pet Dragons and instead let them stay in the Flying Immortal Ancient Shrine, receiving the baptism of this Special Secret Realm and increasing their Experience Points.

Lu Fan also began to sit cross-legged, carefully sensing everything around him.

Strangely, although there was nothing particularly unusual about the Flying Immortal Ancient Shrine, when Lu Fan sat down and began to contemplate, Sword Techniques automatically started appearing in his mind.

Lu Fan felt as if he had had an epiphany, gaining a new understanding of Sword Techniques.

The feeling was profound, and Lu Fan found it fascinating.

Knowing he could only stay in the Flying Immortal Ancient Shrine for three days, he did not dare waste any time and began continuously refining Sword Techniques and battle senses in his mind.

At the same time, his Experience Points continued to rise.

Finally, a golden light shone on Lu Fan.
