World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch

”Damn you, wretch! Just stop running already!”

Thomas, a six-foot-tall man shouted while chasing a figure clad in black.

”No need to waste your energy shouting, Thomas. She can’t run for long anyway,” James, one of the men running alongside him said in a low voice.

”Still, the ability of these people to train loyal dogs is really something else. I didn’t expect them to sacrifice themselves just so she could escape from us,” David, another man chasing the figure said with a slight tremble in his voice.

”The losses we suffered this time are not small. It won’t be easy for us to continue working in the future,” Lucas, the last man running alongside them said angrily.

”Don’t worry. Once we capture her, we will recover everything that we lost today...” Thomas said, and a cruel smile appeared on his face. ”Moreover, the fewer people there are to share the reward, the more profit we will get.”

Hearing Thomas’s words, the expressions of the other three people also brightened, and greed flickered in their eyes.

The figure clad in black could hear the conversation of the people chasing after her, and she couldn’t help but grit her teeth.

There were multiple injuries covering her body, with blood dripping down from many of them.

If it weren’t for her strong willpower, she would have collapsed long ago.

Suddenly, the running figure sensed something and immediately jumped sideways.

Just as she jumped away, an earth spike erupted from the ground at her previous location.

The person clad in black didn’t even look back and continued to run because it wasn’t the first time something like this had happened.

Thomas clicked his tongue in annoyance when he saw that his attack had failed once again, but all four of them continued to chase after her.

Soon, Thomas and the other three noticed that her speed was becoming slower and slower as the injuries on her body gradually began to affect her movements.

Seeing her slow down, Thomas and the others became excited, and they chased after her with even greater vigor.

’So I really can’t run away, even after they sacrificed themselves to give me a chance to escape...’ She thought about her own stupid decision and smiled bitterly.

’If only I had listened to Father and hadn’t stupidly sneaked out, nothing like this would have happened.’

Elena gritted her teeth and tried her best to continue running.

If it weren’t for the injuries she had sustained earlier, she could have easily escaped from Thomas and the others.

However, in her current condition, it was difficult for her to even stand properly, much less run away.

As she gradually began losing focus and her vision turned somewhat blurry, she suddenly saw a light in the distance, and the hope that she had almost lost resurfaced once again.

’Is this a merchant caravan?’

Elena was aware that many merchant caravans traveled along this path, and most of the time, they had powerful guards to keep them safe.

Gritting her teeth, she mustered all of her remaining strength and changed her direction, running toward the source of the light.

However, when she got closer to the source of the light, she was stunned as she saw that there was only a single person, who didn’t look much older than her, sitting beside a campfire.

’Damn it, is this guy also a moron like me who thought life was too easy, so he came into the wilderness alone to court death...?’

Elena couldn’t help but curse inwardly as she felt her vision becoming even blurrier.

When she started running toward the fire, she had thought it was a merchant caravan.

However, even in her wildest dreams, she hadn’t expected it to not be a caravan but some kindred spirit who had come into the wilderness alone to court death.

Taking a deep breath to suppress her dizziness, she glared at the person who was still sitting beside the campfire while looking at her curiously.

’No, this guy is definitely not like me. I at least have some danger awareness, but this guy seems to have the survival instincts of a roasted chicken.’

Seeing that this roasted chicken was still staring at her without moving, she couldn’t help but shout.

”What the hell are you staring at, you moron? Can’t you see the situation? Run away if you don’t want to die!”

Evan was curiously looking at the figure clad in black who had just stopped some distance away from him.

With the help of the flowing wind, he had clearly heard the conversation of the people chasing after her and already had a good idea of the situation.

Just as he was curiously sizing her up, she suddenly shouted at him.

”What the hell are you staring at, you moron? Can’t you see the situation? Run away if you don’t want to die!”

Evan was startled by her sudden shout but immediately understood what she was saying, and his mouth twitched slightly.

’Does she think I have no self-awareness and that I’m just sitting here waiting to watch a show?’

He couldn’t help but complain inwardly as he looked toward Lia’s tent.

And sure enough, that banshee-like shout had awakened the little girl, who immediately ran out with a startled expression.

Seeing a strange person dressed in black clothes, Lia was immediately frightened and quickly moved closer to Evan.

Evan sighed and gently patted her head.

”Don’t worry. It’s nothing but just some uninvited guests...” He said softly and let her sit beside him.

Elena was completely stunned when she saw such a young girl and immediately panicked.

”You moron! Quickly run away. There are people chasing after me. If they see you, they won’t let you go...” As she spoke, she looked in different directions.

”I will try to lead them in another direction. Don’t just sit there. Run quickly!”

Elena was about to run in another direction when suddenly, loud laughter reached her ears, causing her body to stiffen.

”Where are you planning to run now?”

Thomas shouted as he and other three people stopped some distance away from them.

As Thomas spoke, he and the others looked around.

Only after confirming that there was no one else nearby besides Evan and a little girl did they finally relax and a cold gleam flashed in their eyes.

Although Evan had already known about these four people after hearing their conversation through the flowing wind, his eyes couldn’t help but narrow slightly when he noticed the killing intent in their eyes.

Evan glanced at the figure clad in black, who was already flustered after seeing the four people, and sighed.

’She seems like a muddlehead...’ The corners of his lips arched upward slightly. ’But a muddlehead with a good heart.’

”Big Brother...” Lia grabbed Evan’s hand tightly and looked at the four people with a nervous expression.

Although she was just a child, even she could tell that these four people were not good people.

”It’s fine...” Evan said gently before slowly standing up.

When Elena saw the frightened look on the young girl’s face, she gritted her teeth.

”I will come with you. Just let them go. This has nothing to do with them.”

Thomas and the others exchanged glances when they heard her before immediately bursting into laughter.

”Do you really think you can decide whether you want to come with us or not? Even if you don’t want to, you can’t escape from us now,” Thomas said with a grin as a cold gleam flashed in his eyes.

”We have wasted enough time chasing her. Quickly finish these two kids and give them a quick death. We can’t let anyone else know what happened here.”

Lucas, the last member of the group, nodded at Thomas’s words and immediately shot toward Evan and Lia.

Seeing Lucas coming closer, Lia grabbed Evan’s hand tightly.

A cold gleam flashed in Evan’s eyes, and he finally spoke.

”You guys are really immersed in your own world, aren’t you?”

”Huh?” Elena and the others were confused when they heard Evan’s words.

But the next second—

Bang!

A body suddenly flew backward like a broken kite and crashed against a tree in the distance.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

The tree snapped in half from the impact, and Lucas remained lying on the ground motionless.

”What?!”

A look of stunned shock appeared on Thomas and the others’ faces as they hadn’t even seen what had just happened.

However, Evan, who had just punched Lucas, had no intention of playing with them and his eyes glowed with a deep green light.

’Let’s try out the ability that I created after seeing the Thunder Field ability...’

He thought and the next second—

”Shackles of Wind.”

His faint voice echoed amid the darkness and everyone’s body suddenly stiffened in place, unable to move.
