PS2. Once again, thank you to the book friend ”Noble WV” for the Silver League, much appreciated!

”I’ll immediately summon the Holy Grail Knights, first lock up Fiona and Mathew Bade for interrogation, and then send the Lake God Prophet to Borelion to demand justice!” Mogiana said almost instinctively, looking very angry, she stood up and was about to leave.

”Wait! My lady.” Laine hurriedly grabbed her wrist as she was about to rush out.

The Divine Chosen Champion was still a bit weak. Being pulled by Mogiana made his steps unsteady, so the Lake God Witch quickly supported him: ”Be careful, your injuries haven’t healed yet. I’ll handle this matter.”

”No, my lady, you must understand one thing. First of all, eavesdropping cannot be used as evidence. Secondly, if we can’t catch them red-handed, we can’t convict Lord Theodoric either. Whether the Nine Volumes truly existed or were really lost on the Night of Blood, we currently have no conclusion and shouldn’t act rashly.” Laine quickly advised: ”These pieces of information were overheard by me; their truthfulness cannot be confirmed.”

”Hmm, I understand.” Mogiana helped Laine sit down on the chair. Being a smart person, the Lake God Witch quickly grasped Laine’s meaning.

Considering the political influence, the Lake God Witch couldn’t rashly convict a duke, nor could she take Laine’s eavesdropping as evidence for him to confront Fiona. From a physical evidence standpoint, the Nine Volumes were already lost. If Theodoric denied it, Mogiana couldn’t forcibly detain and interrogate the duke himself. Although the Lake God Witch had great power, she ultimately couldn’t disregard the kingship and the nation’s many Great Nobles, as well as the rules set by the Lake Fairy, which would provoke almost all dukes’ resentment and resistance.

”Lord Theodoric is not yet a Holy Grail Knight; he hasn’t sworn to be loyal to you.” Laine shook his head worriedly: ”We aren’t sure if this matter is true, so we must be cautious, my lady. The Night of Blood’s incident itself is already rather strange; we found a clue with difficulty, but we can’t...”

Mogiana nodded slowly, the Lake God Witch sat down: ”Let’s eat first, and after eating, we can analyze the matter in detail.”

”Okay.”

The Holy Communion belonging to the Lake Fairy was as sumptuous as ever. Amidst silver utensils and candlelight, Laine enjoyed a hearty meal, whereas Mogiana ate somewhat less.

After dinner, they bathed and changed clothes. Mogiana indicated for the serving attendants and Lake God Prophets to leave. She also set various detection spells throughout the suite, sealing the doors and room tightly.

Only Laine and Mogiana were left in the bedroom.

The Lake God Witch was dressed in a pure white angelic layered chiffon long dress. She and Laine sat opposite each other by the garden balcony full of flowers. Mogiana took off her crown, the pale moonlight shining on her face: ”Brittania’s vampire problems have been longstanding. We’ve exerted efforts many times but to no avail, as you know. More than once, a whole duke and his family have been discovered to become Midnight Nobles.”

Laine nodded, he organized his words and then asked: ”My lady, can you detail the Night of Blood incident for me?”

”Sure.” Mogiana recounted her experience in detail.

”Hmm~ Then there are two possibilities. The first is Duke Theodoric has colluded with the vampires, and seeing you arrive, out of fear of being discovered, he actively triggered the Night of Blood.” Laine first proposed a hypothesis but quickly negated it: ”But it’s unlikely. Firstly, it was Duke Theodoric’s default on the Tithing that led to your presence at Borelion Castle. If he feared meeting you, he wouldn’t have met you at the singing hall, nor would he need to sacrifice so many knights and vassals, or fundamentally cause a delay leading you to personally visit.”

”Maybe you’re right. When I met him, his demeanor wasn’t unnatural at all. On the contrary, Theodoric seemed immersed in the Minstrel’s performance.” Mogiana pondered the situation at the time.

”So it’s more likely the second scenario. Let’s assume Nagash’s Nine Volumes are indeed at Borelion. Then the second possibility is that vampires or undead mages somehow got this information and seized the chance to incite the Night of Blood to capture the fourth volume of the Nine Volumes.” Laine continued analyzing, rubbing his chin while proposing the second hypothesis.

”The crux of the problem lies with Mathew Bade.” Mogiana immediately grasped the point, the Lake God Witch took out a document: ”Whether it’s the Night of Blood at Borelion or the Battle of Kulona Plains, they share a commonality, which is Mathew Bade was present nearby.”

”Right, whether Nagash’s Nine Volumes truly exist or whether Mathew Bade actually stole the book, he’s rather suspicious because he was present during the Night of Blood and the Battle of Kulona Plains.” Laine nodded repeatedly and raised his own question: ”I seem unfamiliar with the family crest of a black background yellow lion?”

”I haven’t seen it either.” Mogiana stood up: ”Hold on, let me fetch some information.”
