Warhammer Divine Throne

Chapter 503: Chapter 215, Movements of All Parties_2

Under the leadership and guidance of Gailte, the alchemist mages all shouted together. Each of these alchemist mages has a booklet compiled by Gailte, which they diligently study every day.

Such loyalty! The loyalty of the first inspires the loyalty of the latter!

Gailte’s attitude pleased Carl Franz, although he didn’t quite understand what the third sentence meant.

What is Holy Terra?

Perhaps it is some elvish language or magical spell! The world of wizards is indeed hard to comprehend. Carl Franz decided not to think about it any longer and proceeded to the next important piece of news.

”Several thousand Nurgle Demon Army appeared near the capital, Crona, of Brittania. The Lake God Witch Mogiana and the Duke of Connet, Lorne-Rio Cornwall, led the kingdom’s knights to fight them. Boris the Prince-Elector, who was on a diplomatic mission, also joined the war. In a disadvantaged situation, the Divine Chosen Champion of the Lady of the Lake, Laine Macado, suffered great losses in defeating the Great Demon of Nurgle, securing victory for the Knight Army.”

”Alas!” Seeing this news, Carl Franz sighed repeatedly, full of regret, and slammed his fist on the wooden table, causing the Rick Guard standing outside to come inside and inquire, ”Your Majesty, what happened? Is there anything I can do for you?”

”It’s nothing, you may leave!”

”Yes!”

The Rick Guard exited, and only then did the Emperor reveal his anger again. He could hardly imagine how he could have missed such an important talent? A warrior capable of winning duels against the Barbarian Chief Champion, a powerful individual who can defeat the Champion of Khorne in Marinburg, a Champion Warrior who can knock out the White Wolf Yurik with one move, and even a Divine Chosen Champion who can defeat the Chaos Great Demon, was snatched away by the Knight Kingdom beyond the mountains?

Carl Franz thought to himself, forget about a Baron, if Laine Macado was willing to come, he would even give him a Viscount!

(Brittania does not have Viscounts. Above Baron is Count; the Empire has no Marquis. Above Count is Duke, then Prince-Elector.)

Was the head of Nord filled with paste and stones to miss out on such a talent? What the White Wolf Archbishop was doing? Were those wolf pups only busy with drinking and fighting? Carl Franz’s expression was very unsightly. The Empire and Brittania, both human nations, have similar worldviews, and are the only two relatively reliable allies (the other being the Dwarfs) under the Empire’s surrounded by enemies on all sides situation. Although this alliance is relatively loose, at critical moments, the Empire has only the Dwarven brothers and Knight compatriots to rely on.

Now, others have already made him the Divine Chosen Champion of the Lake Fairy. Could he still appoint Laine as the Divine Chosen Champion of Charlemagne?

”By the way,” Carl Franz suddenly thought of something and called in a courtier from outside: ”Your Majesty, you called for me?”

”Later, deliver this message to Griffin Duke Ivan. I need to meet with him soon. Also... how about the formation of the new Pistol Cavalry?” Carl Franz continued to ask.

At the same time, in Brittania, Crona, at the embassy of the Imperial Envoy Boris Prince-Elector.

The Prince-Elector was discussing with his trusted White Wolf Knights.

”Carl Franz is nothing but a cowardly little dog!”

Boris’s discontented voice rang out in the inner chambers of the embassy: ”He is afraid, afraid that the White Wolf Knights will steal his glory, afraid that we will take credit for his achievements, so he dispatched us to this place on a diplomatic mission. He led his army, his knights, and artillery to win such a brilliant victory, yet there was no sign of the White Wolf Knights. This is simply the Empire’s humiliation! One of the greatest humiliations since the establishment of the Empire!”

The Prince-Elector held the latest news in his hands, knowing that the Emperor himself had won a glorious victory in the Drakwald Forest. Yet, the Prince-Elector felt no gratitude, only shame and anger. For Yurik’s followers, missing a war is a great disrespect to Yurik.

”He is our Emperor, Prince-Elector!” a Cheetah Knight objected.

”Yes, he is our Emperor, but he is also a cowardly little dog!” Boris shouted angrily, his red beard adding to his imposing presence. After venting his fury, the Prince-Elector added helplessly, ”Alright, I admit he can still fight battles, but that’s it. Yurik witnesses everything.”

This is the system of the Empire. The great and glorious Empire is a nation of great regional differences, and its military evidently reflects these differences. In the affluent southern regions, modern military equipment like cannons, muskets, and even war machines are used extensively. Meanwhile, in the cold and barren north, soldiers rely on their long spears, arrows, and faith, fighting in the name of the White Wolf War God Yurik.

The Prince-Elector holds full military and political power over his territory. Although all Prince-Elector’s territories are technically part of the Empire, they are practically independent countries. Only when faced with external invasion does the Emperor convene the Imperial Council to discuss war. In peacetime, the Emperor’s political decrees’ efficacy hinges on his personal prestige and talent. Otherwise, a weak Emperor would find his decrees ignored by the Prince-Electors, with orders not extending beyond his direct Rick Territory.

This is no nonsense. Carl Franz’s father, the late Emperor Luitpold, also experienced this. In his later years, when he was bedridden, almost no Prince-Elector listened to the Emperor’s commands. However, things were different with Carl Franz. The new Emperor embarked on a series of military campaigns, achieving successive victories. His outstanding success brought basic respect from the Prince-Electors, who rejoiced in having a strong, talented Emperor, but were also wary of him possibly interfering with their governance.

”This diplomatic mission to Brittania wasn’t entirely fruitless. This war with the Nurgle Demon Army brought the fame of the White Wolf Knights and Cheetah Knights to this side of the mountains. The combat at the outskirts some days ago showed all races of the world not to underestimate the name of Yurik. I can feel Our Lord’s satisfaction with this battle,” a Priest Yurik said.

”Yes, we did not disgrace Our Lord. Long live Yurik! Praise Yurik!” Boris proclaimed with satisfaction.

”Praise Yurik!” came a chorus of shouts from the room. The White Wolf Knights and Cheetah Knights raised their drinks together, chanting despite the Empire’s southern regions also producing fine wines. Compared to Brittania’s, the Empire’s wine was merely horse urine.

This was a statement from Boris Prince-Elector himself.

”The benefits of this mission are not limited to these. I have successfully reached a verbal trade agreement with King Richard and Duke of Connet, Lorne. Brittania can provide us with the quality grains, fine wine, olive oil, and fabrics we need. In return, we can export a large amount of furs, ores, and that endless wood from the Drakwald Forest!” Boris said from his main seat, the Prince-Elector wiping his Holy Sword. Leg-Slicing Bite reflected the fireplace’s glow: ”Speaking of which, it’s strange. Lately, this sword has been restless. I keep feeling like it’s at the Imperial Council, listening to its brothers talk to it, hahaha!”

”Hahaha! Surely that’s because the Holy Sword drank much of the Great Demon’s blood, making it overly excited!” said Coniel Rizfield, captain of the seventh company of the White Wolf Knight Order. The young White Wolf knight looked very regretful, having missed the battle on the Kulona Plains due to an injury from a duel. The Champion Warrior of Yurik felt both shame and helplessness, as Yurik’s teachings emphasize courage and boldness, but also the cunning of a wolf.

As Coniel changed the topic, the White Wolf Knights became lively again. They loudly recounted how many demons they eliminated in this war and how many Chaos Warriors’ heads they offered to Yurik.

The Imperial Envoy’s residence was lively, and within Crona, there was another place equally bustling.

At the Lion Ring Racecourse, the largest racecourse in the Old World, tens of thousands of spectators shouted in unison as the Kingdom Army band played music, with the sound of drums thundering.

The champion of this knight tournament was born here.
