Warhammer Divine Throne

”...My champion, this matter is extremely troublesome, please listen to me slowly.” The Lake Fairy sighed lightly: ”The Red Duke of Musillon was the last Duke of Aquitaine. He knows many of the burial places of the Holy Grail Knights. My champion, although I am a deity, I cannot repeatedly interfere in mortal affairs, especially when the opponent’s strength is no weaker than mine. You know of Nagash, the Master of the Undead, and certainly the Battle of the Rick River, right?”

”Yes.” Laine nodded. He knew about the Battle of the Rick River, where Nagash and Emperor Charlemagne had their final confrontation on the Rick River. Charlemagne used the Divine Hammer Gail-Malaz to blast Nagash’s head, defeating the Master of the Undead. But that battle was actually extremely perilous.

”It is well known that Nagash lost his physical form in that battle and became a wisp of undead spirit. However, his powerful spirit did not die, and after a thousand years, Nagash awakened again from the Black Pyramid, plotting his return.” The Lake Fairy sat beside Laine and sighed lightly: ”Nagash’s power is beyond your imagination. His weakness lies in his lack of proficiency in close combat, but neither do I excel in it. Under such circumstances, neither of us can do anything to the other.”

Laine felt very strange at this point. Listening to the Lake Fairy’s words, she seemed somewhat reluctant to become foes with Nagash? Could it be she decided to condone this evil? To allow the undead of Musillon to desecrate the tombs of the Holy Grail Knights?

”My Lady?” The wavering and dissatisfaction in Laine’s tone were conspicuous, but the Lake Fairy immediately extended her delicate jade hand to rest on Laine’s face, signaling him to calm down: ”I once had a plan. My champion, how much power do you think a Holy Grail Knight could retain if revived by the undead?”

”Perhaps they could retain seventy to eighty percent, but that’s not the point. The important thing is, my Lady, aside from facing Chaos or the Green Skin, I don’t want to fight alongside the dead.” Laine shook his head vigorously, but he immediately thought of the Lake Fairy’s intention: ”Wait, my Lady, you’re suggesting that when a strong enemy appears, you would use the revived undead of the Holy Grail Knights as a last resort?”

The Lake Fairy nodded repeatedly: ”I used to think so; otherwise, how else can mortals face the Chaos Army?”

”I don’t think that’s a good idea! My Lady!” Laine frowned and argued, but he was immediately dumbfounded.

The Lake Fairy gently hugged his arm and whispered a string of words in his ear, then sharply said: ”For this reason, I changed my mind. Given this, the undead that desecrate the graves and souls of the Holy Grail Knights must be severely punished!”

”I am very pleased to reach an agreement, my Lady.”

”Me too, my champion.” The Lake Fairy smiled charmingly, gently tapped Laine’s hand, and continued: ”I will instruct Mogiana to gather the Holy Grail Knights and move those remains, properly preserve them. As for the undead of Musillon ...my champion, tomorrow, I will unleash my wrath! Then, I will greatly need your power.”

”Alright!” Laine nodded in agreement.

Seeing this, the Lake Fairy extended her jade hand towards Laine: ”Then I shall go back to make preparations, my champion. See you tomorrow!”

”See you tomorrow!” Laine lightly kissed the back of the Lake Fairy’s hand.

After deciding on the grand plan, after staying up all day and night without sleep, Laine also felt extremely fatigued. Upon leaving the Prayer Room, daylight had already brightened the sky outside. Outside the Prayer Room, Ollica in a black and white maid outfit and Surya in her winter coat were already waiting. Seeing Laine come out, the maid and the duke’s daughter almost spoke simultaneously.

”Master!” ”Laine? Why did you rush back overnight?”

Laine’s expression slightly eased as he said deeply: ”I dealt with the Blood Knight, but discovered an astonishing secret. I have prayed to the Lady and received her response. I won’t speak about this for now; you need not ask. After tomorrow, you will have the answer.”

The duke’s daughter was very discerning. Seeing Laine did not want to say more, she did not press further. After confirming Laine’s safety, Surya bid farewell: ”Then I will return to Helunhilde first, Laine, you are welcome to visit anytime.”

”I will. Goodbye, dear Surya.” Laine bid farewell to the duke’s daughter and her maid, even Amelia reluctantly followed the Marchioness back to Helunhilde — the academy’s courses hadn’t ended yet. It would be until two weeks before the Winter Festival in early December before the academy begins its vacation.

”Master.” The sound of high heels clicked, and Ollica, the Dark Elf, walked behind Laine: ”I’ve prepared hot water; after returning from the battles, have a good bath and rest!”

”Alright!”

The next day, Brittania, Duchy of Connaught.

This is a cursed land. Surrounding the entire Duke’s domain are numerous Brittania troops, sentinels, and Rangers. Even in the coldest winters or the hottest drought summers, the troops firmly guard the borders of the Duke’s domain but rarely attack proactively. Besides the difficulty in unified command due to the independence of the duke’s armies, the strong defense of the Undead Army is another reason.

Only today, the situation was slightly different.

Under the gloomy sky, clouds gathered, thunder rumbled, and the guards whispered.

”It’s rare, isn’t it? Even in winter, such thunderstorms are happening.”

”Indeed, I wonder what’s going on?”

”Perhaps the Lady is infuriated, wanting to punish those undead bastards?”

While the guards were chatting, the river — Grismere River, originating from the Arden Forest — suddenly began to undergo some dreadful change.

In winter, the dried river began to surge furiously and turbulently. Then, with the gloomy weather, torrential rain poured down, soaking and battering this cursed land.

Grismere River began to flood.

The fury of nature, the colossal river waters lashed onto the riverbanks, trees made way for it, and the water level continuously rose — until it overflowed the riverbed, broke the dam, disregarded natural rules, and the clear river water gradually turned into a torrent breaking everything in its path, with large foams rising into the sky.

It’s the Lady! It’s the Lady’s power!

The riverbank collapsed, the dam shattered, the horrifying torrent swept through the entire lower Grismere River. Not even the hardest boulders could withstand the torrent’s destruction. An indescribable flood erupted, blanketing the land, rolling towards Musillon.

The flood rushed into the Duke’s Domain of Connaught, surged out of the forest, charging into the crisscrossed fields. Countless farmlands were swept by the flood, countless houses were swept away on the spot, the villages painstakingly built by those escaping slaves, the checkpoints defended by the undead, the affluent trading posts and various villages were completely submerged by the flood. The firmest houses were ground to bits, the sturdiest stone towers collapsed thunderously, and the sky-filling flood turned decades and centuries of undead and human efforts into history, utterly destroying everything the Red Duke had painstakingly managed.

The rising water level advanced continuously upward, tumbling and rolling over the shattered earth. The emerald green energy belonging to the Lake Fairy rampaged wildly as the land, corrupted by vampires, touched the clear floodwater and emitted a burned smell; this was the confrontation between the Lady’s divine power and the Midnight Nobles. Graves and tombs teeming with undead were utterly destroyed by the surging flood. Any undead that touched the flood was burned to ashes, leaving nothing behind.

As the water level rose even higher, even the tallest Ghoul King was swept away by the torrent, undead fled scattered in shrieks.

The flood rushed past Brittania’s army outposts without causing any harm to the Brittania Army. All the cavalry and infantry knelt, singing praises to the Lake Fairy, lauding her greatness and supremacy.

The flood stopped abruptly when it reached the massive walls of Musillon, for even such a frightening flood could not harm the high walls of this Cursed City. Except for this city, the entire Duchy of Connaught was almost completely submerged by the flood.

In the air, a sharp and mad laughter from a female lingered in the hearts of humans and undead, persisting long after.
