Warhammer Divine Throne

Chapter 441: Chapter 188, The Knight’s Battle_2

After chatting for a while, the two of them ate some dry food and enjoyed the authentic taste of grilled fish and roasted rabbit.

Outside, the moon reached its zenith, and the cold deepened.

Laine signaled that it was time to move. Veronica nodded in agreement. The witch changed out of her beloved coat and dress into fiery red battle-leather and pants, while Laine donned his Spiritual Masterwork Power Armor: ”Such exquisite armor. Was this bestowed upon you by your Lady?”

”No, it was given to me by my father.” Laine finished putting on the Masterwork Power Armor, which emitted a bright glow under the drive of spiritual energy. A strong Spiritual Shield appeared inside the armor. Then Laine strapped the one-and-a-half-meter-long Goddess of Revenge on his back and raised his Griffin Warhammer as he led his steed out of the cabin.

Outside the house, all the villagers gathered silently, watching the Holy Grail Knight and the witch beside him depart.

Everyone held a candle in their hands. They chanted the name of the Lake Fairy, placing their hopeful gazes on Laine.

This was expectation, responsibility, and pressure. The Holy Grail Knight embodied the Eight Virtues of Chivalry and was the last hope for the people of this country.

Moonlight covered the ground, an autumn chill enveloped the sky, and the once-soft earth gradually hardened as Laine and Veronica led their horses forward. Laine cast a distant glance at the small grove and suddenly chuckled: ”Doesn’t it feel a bit unfamiliar?”

”Things have changed now, my Great Knight,” Veronica walked in front of Laine without turning back: ”You have become a Great Noble.”

The witch looked beautiful under the moonlight, but Laine had no time to admire her, as he quickly discovered traces of the Blood Knight.

Or, rather, the traces had been left deliberately by the opponent to make it easier for Laine to find.

He was looking for the Blood Knight, and the Blood Knight was also seeking the Holy Grail Knight.

Following the path, Laine and Veronica entered the southwestern part of Charon Forest. Here, they weren’t far from Laine’s territory, and it would only take three or four hours at full gallop to reach there.

The dense forest trees had mostly shed their leaves in autumn, leaving behind a ground full of fallen leaves and withered branches. The Black Forest grew increasingly oppressive, and the chaotic undergrowth and eerie atmosphere weighed on the nerves of Laine and Veronica.

”Do the Blood Knights hate the Holy Grail Knights so much?” The Legendary Witch was a bit displeased with traversing the forest in the middle of the night. She initiated the conversation: ”Is it advantageous to confront a Holy Grail Knight in the forest?”

”No, my dear, firstly, the Blood Knights are vampires. Even they aren’t foolish enough to feed by the roadside. As for the Holy Grail Knights...indeed, the Blood Knights are very strong, but they are essentially still vampires. Like normal vampires, they also suffer from strong cravings for blood, so they must seek their blood sources.” Laine advanced through the forest, answering Veronica’s questions along the way: ”However, they firmly believe, just like their leader Alboim Wallace, that they too can suppress their bloodthirst through ascension and strength.”

”In fact, some Blood Knights have successfully overcome their bloodlust by ascending to the Holy Sanctuary, such as Alboim Wallace, who is known as the Ancestor of the Blood Dragon. He ascended to the Holy Sanctuary by personally slaying a Red Fire Dragon and drinking its dragon blood to lift the curse of the Master of the Undead Nagash and gain greater power. Thus, Alboim Wallace disbanded his following of Blood Knights, sending them on their separate quests. If they elevate themselves to the Holy Sanctuary on their journey, they will forever rid themselves of the vampire curse, and Alboim Wallace will re-summon them to his ranks.”

”Mission Knights regard Blood Knights as prey and foes, while Blood Knights view Holy Grail Knights as prey and foes. Sometimes that’s just the way it is, the hunter becomes the hunted.” As Laine finished speaking, he and Veronica both halted.

There was movement up ahead.

Under the faint moonlight, on a clearing in the woods, a blood-red glowing figure holding a Long Spear and giant shield stood in the Black Forest, confronting a fully armed Ranger Knight from Brittania.

The Blood Knight was clad in black armor, covered in various death and slayer motifs. He wielded a corrupted weapon, with dark runes engraved on the ancient weapon, emitting a red glow. The giant shield in his hand still bore the knight’s emblem from the Blood Dragon Knight Order, with the crest and helmet now shaped like an Evil Dragon with dragon wings.

The Nightmare Horse spewed foul-smelling green flames in the chilly autumn air, staring down the young Ranger Knight before it. Across from the Blood Knight, the Ranger Knight appeared very young, donned in chain armor with guards and an armet, raising a cavalry lance as he challenged the Blood Knight: ”I am Cybot Le Shanggel, come in the name of the Lady to eradicate evil and for Brittania’s sake! Mount your steed, lift your cavalry lance, and face the judgment of justice! May the Lady of the Lake grant me victory!”

After speaking, the young Ranger Knight lifted his cavalry lance and challenged the Blood Knight. The Ranger Knight was quite nervous, with a slight sheen of sweat on his forehead, and his raised lance wavered slightly.

After several seconds of awkward silence, the Blood Knight spoke. Unlike many undead, the Blood Knight’s voice was filled with confidence and calmness: ”Step aside, young man, you are not the one I’m looking for. I have no interest in such an unequal battle. You’re quite fortunate, Brittania Ranger Knight. I’ve just had my fill of blood, so move along, child.”
