Once the copying work at the Library started, time seemed to fast‑forward a bit, and in the blink of an eye a month and a half had passed.

During this month and a half, Gu Xi was practically living in the Library.

Every night around ten he went down the mountain, spent the night inside the Holy Silver Evil Coffin, then went back up around six the next morning.

The first thing he did after going up was summon fifty Necromancers and open the gate leading to Yalidu City, letting Eve and that group of Undead under her command out to search for books and copy them.

The reason it was such a hassle.

Was because Gu Xi himself wasn’t really Undead; he needed to eat and rest.

And Eve also needed to go back every day to sort out that day’s gains.

After all, there were many things that weren’t settled just by copying them down.

Eve had to arrange for people in the Magic District to run experiments on what had been copied that day, and adjust the issues left over from earlier.

Once that kind of processing started, it usually took up the whole night. By the time the next morning came and Gu Xi had slept his fill, they had to come out again to continue searching for books and copying.

This was why those Undead never had anything like ”being worn out.”

If it were anyone else, they would have smashed the copying papers right into Gu Xi’s face long ago.

Today was the same: after Gu Xi finished breakfast in the Holy Silver Evil Coffin, he jumped down from it and headed toward the little hill with the Library on it.

His Holy Silver Evil Coffin was parked right by the main road at the foot of the hill.

The reason he left the Holy Silver Evil Coffin there was because he wasn’t the only one with the idea of using a house‑car as a dwelling.

All sorts of houses were parked at the foot of the hill; if Gu Xi put the Holy Silver Evil Coffin away, that parking spot of his would be taken over by someone else in no time.

When that happened, if Gu Xi wanted to find a place to live, he’d probably have to go somewhere a bit farther from the Library.

Gu Xi had no intention of wasting his time on walking.

Just climbing the hill every day was already troublesome enough for him.

Having to walk even farther on top of that—forget it.

But today there was also something different. Gu Xi had only just reached the first‑level platform by the Library when he saw a lot of Players putting down what they were doing and squeezing toward the Library’s book‑tower on that level.

”Brother Liu, what’s going on?”

Seeing the scene in front of him, Gu Xi was a bit speechless. He tugged over a Player he knew and asked curiously.

”Brother Gu, it’s you. You don’t know? People from the city hall just came over. They’re looking for manpower to go explore the Outer City District.

The requirement is Players who signed up for Creation and at the same time possess a large amount of knowledge.

They’re signing people up and doing interviews in the Library right now.”

”Outer City District?”

Having stayed in Ancestor City for a while, Gu Xi naturally knew where the Outer City District was.

Back when the original Ancestor City was still called White Deer Field, it was a small city that could house fifty million people.

At the time, the game was already very popular in White Deer Field, and many Players were already able to bring some powerful equipment out of the game and into the real world.

When White Deer Field was thrown down into the deepest part of the game.

That city of fifty million people almost got destroyed in the process.

Although White Deer Field ultimately remained, it could no longer be lived in.

So apart from some stronger Players who stayed behind back then, the other Players all dispersed outward and built the first city outside Ancestor City—Changzi City.

As time passed, the new Ancestor City turned into what it is now.

And the place where White Deer Field had originally been became the Outer City District.

All Players in Ancestor City knew where the Outer City District was.

They also knew that when that very first batch of Players left, they definitely hadn’t taken everything inside with them.

There were even many ancient Players who died in the city when it was thrown into the depths of the game, or Players who had already grown old and were unwilling to leave the city.

They left behind a lot of things in this Outer City District.

There was even a rumor that the reason White Deer Field got thrown into the depths of the game was because a Player was in the middle of upgrading his Orange Armor.

He was preparing to upgrade the Orange Armor into Red Equipment.

Only no one knew what went wrong, and in the end White Deer Field was dragged into the deep game along with it.

Although no one had ever seen that piece of Red Equipment, this rumor was extremely widespread.

So widespread that many Players hearing about it for the first time all wanted to go to the Outer City District to have a look, to explore that ancient city.

However, Ancestor City did not forbid ordinary Players from entering the Outer City District.

In their words, the Outer City District was far too dangerous.

Without someone leading the way, and without enough strength, out of ten teams that went in, at most one would come back.

As for scattered individuals who snuck in, there were simply no precedents of anyone coming out alive.

Any Player with a normal brain should understand the danger.

Knowing it’s death and still charging in—if that’s not stupid, what is.

So forbidding them was useless.

The Outer City District is there; if you want to go in, we’ll just count that as you acting of your own accord.

But this time was obviously different—if they were coming all the way to the Library to recruit people.

It meant this was an operation organized by Ancestor City.

For Players temporarily living here, that was quite attractive.

Leaving everything else aside, right now jobs in Ancestor City were few while people were many; unemployed Players had to rely on themselves for food, clothing, housing—everything.

When they couldn’t withstand the pressure anymore, Players would choose to join the Guilds they had originally looked down on.

And now, going to explore the Outer City District had become another opportunity in their eyes.

”Well? Are you going or not?”

Hearing the question from the Player surnamed Liu, Gu Xi hesitated for a moment, then still shook his head.

”Forget it. I still have a lot of things I haven’t copied down yet.”

”Brother Gu, why are you so stubborn? The Library’s right here; you can come copy books anytime you want.

But a chance to enter the Outer City District together with a big organized group—that doesn’t come often.

If you don’t go this time, who knows how long it’ll be till the next chance to enter the Outer City District.”

But Gu Xi still shook his head.

”I’m not going. The Outer City District is right there, and there aren’t any signs forbidding entry, yet none of the Players in Ancestor City are willing to go.

Just thinking about it, you can tell how dangerous it is.

In this kind of situation, someone suddenly wants to ’explore’ the Outer City District—just hearing that, you know there’s something behind it.

They probably need a huge amount of cannon fodder to go in.

I’ll pass. I came to take part in Creation, not to be cannon fodder.”

After spending this period of time constantly copying and reading, the restlessness in Gu Xi had gradually been washed away. Now when he thought things over, he started considering them from all angles.

He no longer rushed off to act the moment an idea popped into his head like before.

Listening to Gu Xi, the Player surnamed Liu just shook his head.

”Fine, if you’re not going then forget it. I’m going to take a look. Even if I don’t find anything good in the Outer City District, the daily pay alone is enough to let me stay in Ancestor City for quite a while longer.”

With that, he stopped talking to Gu Xi, turned around, and squeezed his way to the door of the Library. From the look of it, he was getting ready to sign up.
