”What do you think of it, Withered Bones?”

Upon understanding the situation in the Maze Demon City, Gu Xi immediately asked.

On the surface he was asking the Lord of Skeletons, but in fact, he was using the Lord of Skeletons to connect with Eldest Princess Anna behind him.

In military matters, Gu Xi was more inclined to trust some of Eldest Princess Anna’s judgments.

”Dominic’s brain works very well.”

After a moment of silence, the Lord of Skeletons finally conveyed Eldest Princess Anna’s judgment.

”The situation outside the Maze Demon City is somewhat difficult to assess, but from the size of the maze in front of us, it’s clear that such a large maze can swallow up anyone who enters, no matter how many people there are.

Attempting to break this maze using a human wave strategy is unlikely.

Although the Shadowy Squad in the north has a large number of troops, their levels are not impressive. In contrast, the enemy in the south, that hero is smart, they know they are besieging the city.”

Knows they are besieging the city?

What does that mean?

Gu Xi was confused, redirecting his gaze to the enemy in the south.

At this time, the Lord of Skeletons also immediately operated to enlarge the battlefield arrangement of the enemy in the south.

Seeing the Shadowy Squad moving forward in a squared battle array, Gu Xi couldn’t discern anything at first.

But as the image enlarged, Gu Xi began to notice the difference here.

This Shadow Hero over here is truly conducting this battle as a siege.

Behind his troops, there were over a hundred special catapults and crossbow cannons.

From the arrangement of these catapults and crossbow cannons, it can be seen that this Shadow Hero understands sieges.

He is very aware that a siege is not just about sending as many troops forward to swarm and attack.

To siege a city, various siege machinery is a must.

Catapults or cloud ladder vehicles, at least one type must be present.

If there’s no siege machinery, relying on human lives to swarm is just providing target practice for the guard team on the city walls.

And when using siege machinery, two points are crucial; one is ballistics, at the very least, it must be accurate.

Otherwise, after several deployments, if they can’t even hit the city walls, or if they hit but can’t damage the walls, what use is it?

Catapults aren’t omnipotent.

The goal is to destroy the city walls in a short time to allow follow-up troops to storm in.

Of course, the tactic of throwing stones into the city, using them to flatten the city, won’t be discussed here.

The other point is to protect the catapults well.

After all, catapults are of great importance in siege warfare.

This point is understandable to both attackers and defenders.

Thus, there will be various small-scale skirmishes surrounding the catapults,

like cavalry destroying catapults, aerial attacks on catapults, and other tactics.

Normally, when facing an opponent without aerial forces, destroying catapults first is the primary choice.

Without catapults, the opponent can’t breach the city walls.

Relying solely on infantry, they can’t even cross the moat.

Therefore, this Shadow Hero specifically left a formation to protect the catapults when deploying.

Previously, with the image not enlarged, Gu Xi hadn’t paid much attention.

But now that it’s enlarged, Gu Xi understood the meaning in Eldest Princess Anna’s words.

This hero has brains, knows he’s besieging a city.

And Dominic is also smart, he knows the hero in the south is the more important enemy, directly maneuvering troops to this position.

If it weren’t for those mud dragons in the west, he would even consider deploying the Giant Dragon Corps here.

Currently, over half of Maze Demon City’s troops are amassed here; Cave Dwellers, Harpies, Medusas, Minotaurs, Scorpion Lions, Hydras, and Nightmares are all arranged on this side.

But the north side’s situation is different.

Here, Dominic set up the Evil Eye Corps and Gu Xi temporarily supported him with Frenzied Beast Skeleton Soldiers.

The reason for placing these two troops here comes down to two points.

Frenzied Beast Skeleton Soldiers don’t require command; once the enemy approaches, they will act on their own.

As for the Evil Eye being arranged on the north city wall, it’s because their range is the furthest.

Most importantly, their attacks over a certain distance do not drop in damage.

Moreover, they have anti-air capabilities.

This method of direct eye ray attack is effective even without someone commanding.

These two types of units together, plus the mysterious maze outside the city, maintaining the defense here is still doable.

Once the Giant Dragon Corps deals with all the mud dragons outside, the Corps will come to support the north city wall.

In Dominic’s estimation, the Giant Dragon Corps should defeat the mud dragons within one or two hours.

By then, the enemy might still be far from reaching the city walls.

The current setup isn’t problematic.

But Dominic never expected that plans can’t keep up with changes.

Just after Gu Xi and Eldest Princess Anna finished evaluating Dominic as a smart Leader, an unexpected incident happened.

The north side, always underestimated by Gu Xi and Dominic, suddenly erupted with a special tactic, and at the very start of the battle, they actually reached the north city wall.

Gu Xi noticed this side’s situation only after hearing the explosion from the north.

The hero in the north wasn’t actually brainless; he just focused his thinking elsewhere.

He never intended to siege the city by conventional means.

On his way here, he planned to use bizarre abilities to siege the city.

Although his plans didn’t account for the mysterious maze outside the city.

But this didn’t really affect his actions.

As he led his troops to the front of the city wall, this Shadow Hero summoned a group of Deceitful Shadows on his side.

All these Deceitful Shadows were low-level, as they emerged, they curled themselves into tight balls, seemingly afraid of accidentally being stomped to death.

Approximately three thousand Deceitful Shadows crammed together, pressing against each other, packed closely.

Then the Shadow Hero raised his arm, pushing towards these clustered Deceitful Shadows.

With an explosion sound, all the Deceitful Shadows were blasted away.

The direction they flew was naturally the north city wall of Maze Demon City.

However, they were all launched out, with the utmost speed.

The Evil Eyes stationed here reacted quickly.

But there were only a few of them.

In their first response, they shot laser-like ranged attacks towards the sky, only managing to shatter over forty Deceitful Shadows.

The remaining Deceitful Shadows mostly fell into the mysterious maze, with a major portion landing on the city walls.

Thus, on the north city wall, before the south city wall even started fighting, more than eighteen hundred Deceitful Shadows had already been placed there.
