Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 1136: Chapter 1134: Ancestor City Library

In Ancestor City’s library, just like the barracks, a large complex occupied an entire mountain peak.

On the winding mountain path, there were seven platforms of varying sizes.

Each platform had a large library and many small houses.

Gu Xi had a feeling that this mountain had already been hollowed out, and countless books were hidden within the mountain’s belly.

Upon entering the library’s main entrance, there were two paths leading up the mountain, with several players acting as guides before them.

Gu Xi already knew that these players were essentially just idle guides.

They were arranged there specifically for recruitment.

If not, why would the library even need guides?

Most people just directly searched for the books they wanted.

The few guides appeared utterly bored.

Gu Xi wasn’t planning on asking these guides anything either.

After parting ways with Eve, Gu Xi headed up the mountain along the right path.

While ascending, Gu Xi wasn’t as anxious as the others.

At the moment, he noticed the scenery of the library before him.

Although this library had seven platforms of varying sizes, and there wasn’t much scenery on the surface, stepping out from the path’s steps, Gu Xi noticed that the knowledge recorded within the library wasn’t necessarily all in the archives.

Nor was it necessarily all within the mountain’s belly.

On the mountain trees, there were traces of left knowledge.

Each large tree had a small signboard hanging on it.

At first, Gu Xi thought these were recording the tree species and when they were planted.

But upon closer inspection, one would find that wasn’t the case.

The boards recorded various book titles.

Gu Xi just glanced at it and could see titles like ”Ten Common Dark Magics,” ”Holy Light and Darkness are not opposed.”

With a single turn of thought, Gu Xi understood the situation here.

Every tree before him must possess some kind of wonder.

Perhaps reading corresponding books under these trees would yield better results.

As Gu Xi walked up the mountain, he quickly scanned the book titles on these trees.

Though you couldn’t tell much just from the book titles, you could surely define a range.

Gu Xi decided to memorize these titles first and would come back to experiment once he found the corresponding books.

Ascending all the way, Gu Xi soon reached the first platform level.

As soon as he stepped up, many players gathered around.

”Brother, are you looking for someone to help transcribe books?”

”I transcribe quickly and for a reasonable price.”

”Hey comrade, do you need a scribe? I have professional certification.”

Gu Xi shook his head directly, ”No need, I brought my own people to transcribe the books.”

Having said this, Gu Xi glanced at them again, ”What, can’t I bring my own people to transcribe books?”

With Gu Xi staring at them like that, these players stepped back a few steps.

”No, you can bring whoever you want to transcribe your books.”

”Then must I use the paper and pens you provide to transcribe books?”

Gu Xi asked another question.

These matters were best clarified in advance.

Although Gu Xi didn’t believe that Ancestor City’s library had other issues.

There was nothing to fear, except the unexpected.

”No, our paper and pens are self-provided.”

This made Gu Xi chuckle, ”That’s good. I’ll arrange my own team to transcribe books without disrupting your businesses, but please don’t disrupt my matters either, alright?”

When Gu Xi said this, these players retreated to the side.

They all noticed that Gu Xi was someone who had a clear plan in his mind.

Even if they gathered around, it wouldn’t work.

Thus, they dispersed.

Gu Xi glanced at them and didn’t say much.

In truth, Gu Xi also realized this was all fate.

If he didn’t have the backing of Yalidov City, he too might have been among these people, scrambling to help others transcribe books.

Realizing this, Gu Xi sighed, and his mood dipped instantly.

He first entered the archive present before him to inquire about the situation.

Just as Gu Xi initially suspected, the archive merely served as a facade.

Most of the library’s books in Ancestor City were hidden within the mountain’s belly.

Aside from the forbidden books on the top platform level that only players Level 30 and above could borrow, all other books could be borrowed and transcribed as long as one found them and held them.

Of course, all books couldn’t be taken outside the platform’s boundaries.

If you’re done, you simply place the books at the return point outside the archives.

The books would fly back to their rightful positions by themselves.

But because there were no librarians here, coupled with the direct elevator connection to the mountain’s belly within the archives.

Trying to find books here was quite a troublesome task.

Even if someone stayed here for ten to eight years, they wouldn’t dare claim they knew where all the books were.

Thus, those attempting to make a profit at the library would only take on transcription work, but wouldn’t assist others in finding books.

Regarding the various trees planted outside the library, none of the players in the library have heard of anything particularly magical.

Nor has anyone specifically searched for corresponding books to read under the trees.

This left Gu Xi, who wanted someone to experiment, quite speechless.

After leaving the archive on the first platform, Gu Xi headed towards the platforms above.

At each archive of the platforms, Gu Xi thoroughly inquired detailed information.

In the seven archives within Ancestor City, apart from the top level holding only forbidden books.

Each archive on every level held different categories of books.

Their classification wasn’t based on spell branches.

Instead, they were categorized as magazines, data books, magic books, scientific research results, eerie books, and other books.

Among the other books, Gu Xi was most familiar.

This included fairy tales, history, stories, novels, and some background introductions to the game world perceived by people, etc.

One could say these books were the most chaotic.

The eerie books section contained books that could lead to mutations or changes after reading.

On this level, the scribes were noticeably fewer.

Only scribes with relatively strong abilities dared to work here, but even so, they couldn’t transcribe continuously throughout the day; they could at most transcribe for one to two hours daily, and needed to transcribe by scheduled time slots.

After touring the platforms throughout the library, Gu Xi reconvened with Eve on the platform of the Forbidden Book Area.

”Sir, I would like to request you to have some mages from the Magic District undertake tasks.”

Upon seeing Gu Xi, Eve immediately said.

Before, Gu Xi still planned to deploy necromancers to transcribe books.

But with Eve’s suggestion, Gu Xi had new thoughts.

Given that their duration in the library would be rather lengthy, relying solely on the undead mages summoned through Gu Xi’s Death Witch Summoning ability for book transcription seemed insufficient.

He needed more personnel responsible for transcribing and finding books.

”Deploy fewer corpses, additionally, they will only handle book transcription; other matters are to be done once returning to Yalidov.”
