“Hmmm, that battle technique the War God Academy team captain just employed…

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it before, is this some new skill?” a spectator in the VIP second section mused, eager to pry answers from the War God Academy’s Dean seated few seats ahead of him.

However, the Dean was just as clueless as everyone else seated there, so he only offered a smirk and played the part of the enigmatic sage, though inside, he tried not to be surprised by Alec again but he still couldn’t help but wonder how Alec had managed to display such a martial skill, one that neither he nor the other academy Deans had ever encountered.

Which was weird as they were all old monsters that have come across thousands of spells and battle skills.

In fact, at the moment he had begun to attribute any unique thing Alec did to the Gordon clan.

As for the other Deans, who had been eagerly awaiting a reply, they soon realized that the War God Academy Dean would not divulge any insights into the battle skill, so they left him to enjoy the spectacle of the fight in peace.

After all at the moment Alec seemed to be tipping the scales of victory once again, leaving everyone in suspense if he would continue his myth or he would eventually be defeated by.

Dorian watched Alec from a distance, his eyes sharp as he tried to discern what had gone wrong.

He still couldn’t believe that Alec could keep pace with him at this moment.

After all, he was at the Tier 6 Mage realm presently, and he was confident that he would bulldoze his way through, but he now realized he had been overly confident.

He could feel his undead mana reaching its limit, which meant he wouldn’t be able to maintain this form for much longer, a troubling situation for him, as he planned to do something about it fast before he ran out of mana.

‘I just need to get rid of him quickly and from a distance,’ Dorian thought, although he felt he was still faster than Alec, but he hadn’t been able to land a single hit when he was in a close combat scenario with Alec.

Every time he launched an attack, Alec executed the Dempsey Roll to evade it, countering with precise strikes of his own.

To Dorian, it almost seemed as if Alec could predict his next move, as if he could see the future.

But that was a misconception; all Alec had been doing was shedding his weaknesses and fully utilizing his strengths.

He knew he was a bit slower than Dorian, yet he had complete confidence in his ability to defeat him in close combat.

This confidence was backed by the fact that the battle experiences and weapon mastery of his golems was being shared with him.

But to others, Alec exuded the impression of someone who had fought over a hundred battles, all these along with the fact that his mental force field allowed him to pick up on Dorian’s movements quickly, gave him a chance to evade at the right moment.

If there had been a considerable gap between them, Alec would not have been able to showcase such skill.

However, he had ensured the distance was minimal, allowing him to react swiftly the moment Dorian made a move.

The closer proximity negated much of Dorian’s speed advantage, as Alec’s mental acuity was significantly faster, giving the impression that he could read Dorian’s attacks even before they were launched.

Dorian’s unsettled mind only compounded the issue, drowning him in self-doubt.

As Alec glanced down at the Red Salamander armor encasing his body, a sigh escaped his lips.

Multiple cracks marred the surface, threatening to shatter at any moment, he knew that if the armor broke, he wouldn’t be able to keep pace with Dorian again.

Because despite it being merely a Tier 3 set piece, yet its extra stat bonuses had been crucial in keeping Alec in the fight.

“Old friend, you’ve been with me long enough; just bear with me a little longer,” Alec murmured, determination swelling within him as he resolved to end the battle swiftly.

While Dorian was bewildered by Alec’s ability to match him, Alec, in turn, perceived Dorian as just a stepping stone he needed to overcome in his journey.

The only reason Alec had felt so confident and calm while facing Dorian was because he had been clashing with numerous Tier 5 demonic beasts in the Beast Forest, all possessing Tier 6 battle power.

The key difference was that these beasts relied solely on their primal instincts, while Dorian was far more versatile, employing various spells and skills that made him far less predictable.

Being one of the top geniuses in first year circle only made matters more challenging for Alec;

While Dorian might exude the aura of a low Tier 6 mage, his actual battle prowess far exceeded that, especially with his undead spirit equipment further augmenting his power.

All of this combined was why Alec had found it difficult to keep up with Dorian or defeat him swiftly, although he still had some tricks up his sleeve, but he was being cautious, unwilling to reveal too much and risk becoming vulnerable without any cards left to play in the final showdown.

“I had saved this move for the final, but I guess if I want to squash you like the cockroach you are, I have no choice but to go all out,” Dorian’s voice broke through Alec’s deep thoughts, startling him as he realized he had been contemplating the same approach as Dorian.
