The Golem Mage

605: Flaming Swordman.

The Ancient Blaze Clansmen who had come to watch the match in disguise couldn’t help but think of Rae when they looked at Alec.

It was as if a rush of locked-up memories came flooding back to them as they observed Alec with his spiky hair, now dyed in the blood-red colour that signified the members of the Ancient Blaze Clan.

“Hope you’re ready to lose?” Yama said, staring at Alec, his Naginata poised and ready to strike at any moment.

“Bring it on, and stop trying to do the referee’s job,” Alec replied, glaring back at Yama, his remark clearly annoyed Yama, as it was a subtle jab at Yama’s excessive talking.

Wasting no time, Yama swung his massive weapon behind him and launched himself off the ground, as he shuffled toward Alec, his afterimage trailing behind.

Seeing Yama finally make his move, Alec responded in kind, as he stomped his right foot into the ground and shifted into a stance as he moved his whole body forward.

As if answering his call, three enormous earth boulders levitated behind him, as though they had been uprooted from the ground.

The eyes of the audience were all on Alec, eager to see how he would counter the rapidly approaching Yama, who was lunging at him with his Naginata spear aimed at his midsection.

It was clear that Yama’s weapon was targeting Alec’s torso, intending to pierce through his stance with a thrust attack.

“Fall!” Alec commanded, dragging his right hand downward as if pulling something unseen.

And in the next moment, the crowd watched in awe as one of the boulders behind him seemed to respond to his command, hurtling towards the charging Yama as if being pulled by invisible hands.

Yama, who was on the verge of attacking Alec, was caught off guard by the boulder sent at him in the last split second.

As Yama had charged towards Alec, he wore a smug smirk, assuming he could catch Alec off guard before Alec even thought of attacking.

However, as Alec finally made his move, Yama realized why Alec had delayed his actions.

Because if Alec had sent the boulder hurtling towards him earlier, Yama could have easily evaded it with his speed, tilting to the side to avoid the attack and swiftly returning to his mission course of thrusting towards Alec and he would have done this without losing any of his momentum.

But now, with the delayed impact from Alec, Yama found himself in a difficult position as he was too close and had used too much speed while lunging for Alec, leaving him little room to evade or dodge the attack, and now he had to face the attack head on.

Yama dug both legs into the ground and rotated his weapon, creating a circular golden shield force in front of him just in time, to serve as a last line of defense for him.

Bang!

A resounding sound reverberated as the boulder collided with the hastily created defense.

Though Yama was pushed back about ten steps, his efforts eventually paid off as he successfully deflected the enormous projectile by persistently rotating his Naginata in front of him.

Just as Yama thought he could catch his breath, his attention was drawn to Alec who was now dragging both hands down, and behind him, the remaining two boulders followed suit, seemingly propelled by an invisible force towards Yama.

They hurtled towards Yama at an even greater speed, flames licking their surfaces due to both their velocity and Alec’s manipulation.

But this time around Yama was prepared for the attack, having learned from his previous surprise, he braced himself in anticipation.

He swiftly slapped his right palm forward twice, summoning two colossal golden palms in mid-air that soared towards the incoming boulders.

Bang!

A thunderous collision occurred as the golden palms and the boulders clashed, triggering yet another explosion and shockwave.

The opposing forces cancelled each other out, leaving the situation at a standstill.

“Hmm, it appears that even now they remain evenly matched, despite their occasional advantages over each other, both of them must realize that they cannot win if they continue fighting in this manner.” Mused the Grand Elder of the Marionette clan, as she continued to observe the intense duel.

Alec frowned as he witnessed the boulder strike that he had twerked being neutralized, his spell options were dwindling, and desperation crept in.

“I suppose there’s no other choice,” Alec muttered to himself, shifting into a stance.

Retrieving the Changdao from his waist, he grasped it loosely with his left hand while keeping it sheathed.

His right hand hovered only inches away from gripping the Changdao’s hilt, yet he refrained from doing so.

Instead, he turned the blade upside down so its cutting edge faced towards the sky.

As Alec assumed his stance, he began exhaling long, deep breaths, after the moment, he tapped into the blood-killing intent , it resonated with the Bloody Changdao and the blade thirst for blood just seemed to heightened than previously after all it’s been long Alec slashed or killed a lifeform.

The hunger emanating from the weapon threatened to overpower Alec’s rationality, however, through his training, he had learned to remain in control.

Taking these deliberate breaths allowed him to maintain his focus and preserve his state of mind.

Yama continued to stare at Alec with a perplexed expression, trying to comprehend his actions.

And not only Yama, but most of the onlookers believed that Alec was wasting precious time instead of launching another attack, hoping to catch Yama off guard.

However, Alec, who has faced Yama, understood that even with a slight advantage, he would not be able to defeat Yama, as Yama would just simply be matching the same power for each spells he sent out.

Yama’s extensive arsenal of spells proved his proficiency in magical combat.

Which made Alec come to a conclusion, that he would need a completely different approach, if he was serious about wanting to defeat Yama.

He needed to do something that Yama would not anticipate, something unique to him that would give him an edge and ensure that Yama’s tactics and spell can’t counter attack.

“This is pointless, if you won’t attack even after I’ve given you the chance, then it means you’ve forsaken that opportunity as well,” Yama declared, leaping in front of Alec, raising his weapons high with both hands tightly gripping the blade of the Naginata.

The blade emitted a radiant glow, reflecting the excess Ki energy that Yama had pushed into that region.

With a loud cry, Yama finally let the Naginata fall down, precisely at that moment when Alec’s eyes opened.

“Now, it’s my turn,” Alec muttered under his breath, a sense of determination evident in his words.
