As the undead army retreated and Alec’s teammates moved back, a clear space opened up for him and Dorian to engage in their battle.

As Dorian’s long sword lunged toward Alec with such speed that the crowd gasped, seeing him aim for a vital spot on his very first move.

Just when the tip was mere inches from its target, Alec raised his hands and slightly drew his Changdao from its scabbard, just enough to defend against the attack but not fully unsheathe his weapon.

Bang!

A small shockwave erupted as Alec defended against the thrust, but he was sent skidding backward about ten steps before managing to stabilize himself skillfully.

“Don’t even think of underestimating me; that could lead to your downfall.

I didn’t become captain of one of the Great Eight Academies for nothing,” Dorian declared as he kicked off the ground, showcasing an impressive foot technique as he advanced on Alec.

With his head bowed, Alec made it difficult for the audience to see his expression, but he paid no mind to Dorian’s statement, as he began to weave around Dorian’s strikes effortlessly, evading each attack with minimal effort, while keeping a certain space between them.

“I’ve never underestimated anyone since I stepped onto this stage.

In fact, it seems I’ve been the one who is greatly underestimated,” Alec replied, shifting his stance.

Without much hesitation, he lightly stomped the ground twice and moved forward this time instead of retreating and defending like he had been doing since the duel between them started.

What truly captivated the audience, however, was the sight of two massive rocks rising up from the ground due to Alec’s stomp.

This display from Alec sent the crowd into yet another frenzy, cheering wildly.

Though Alec might have been using a low-rank skill, as it had been a long time since he last practiced it and his level seemed stagnant, but the crowd perceived his display as infatuation drug, as his prowess was purely for their entertainment..

He tilted his body slightly, preparing to slam his leg into the first rock still suspended in mid-air.

“Ah, what stance is that?

It looks so unbalanced.

Is it true what the rumours say that he’s being hyped and has no real skills?” Dorian thought as he saw Alec’s unbalanced stance as he braced himself for a counterattack.

But before he could react, Alec had already kicked the first massive rock toward him.

The speed at which the boulder curved and flew through the air towards Dorian startled him, as he scrambled to evade it.

However, Alec wasn’t finished; he lifted his body off the ground, rotating in mid-air to gain momentum before slamming his right leg onto the second stone, as if attempting to score a volley goal.

Bang!

While Dorian managed to narrowly escape the first boulder, he was less fortunate with the second, which targeted the location he was evading too, and sent him flying into his undead army.

The stone crushed against his chest, causing him to spit out blood.

“Hmmm,” Alec murmured, feeling that this shouldn’t be the end of the battle; if it were, he would be quite disappointed.

He expected the level of the eight captains from the great Academy to be all top-notch, and so far, aside from Dorian’s exceptional summoning abilities, he hadn’t found anything in terms of combat skills that intrigued him.

This was why he was eager for Dorian to get back on his feet.

Seeing Dorian struggle to get up, Alec sighed.

“I guess I had higher expectations, his summoning abilities are already top-notch, placing him among the elite.

It’s just me who imagined a climactic final battle in my head,” he murmured, lost in thought, his gaze unfocused on the ground.

Then the Draugr, one of the Undead commanders, began to slowly approach Dorian, and no one could discern its intentions.

But as it got closer, it dissolved into what appeared to be a black fog and surged into Dorian’s body, which was still pinned to the ground by the massive rock.

At that moment, an eerie dark aura began to emanate from Dorian, prompting Alec to lift his head, as his eyes flash with interest again.

The rest of the crowd also observed Dorian with newfound intrigue; having never seen anything like this before, as they noted the remaining seven members of the undead commanders advancing toward Dorian’s motionless form.

“Alec, we can’t let that happen!

I don’t know what he’s planning, but judging by that aura he released from just one entering him, we can’t allow the other undead commanders to assimilate with him!” Agnes shouted urgently.

Alec’s brow furrowed as he went into thought, all while he locked his gaze on her before sprinting forward towards Dorian.

However, he was still a bit slower, as Dorian had been crushed into the midst of the undead army by the boulder, making him closer to the undead commanders than Alec was.

As Alec charged forward, the commanders erupted into a cloud of dark smoke and entered Dorian’s body, followed by an ear-splitting scream that echoed through the arena.

As a shockwave erupted from the arena following that scream, a black aura surged forth with Dorian as a center figure.

The energy he emitted was so powerful that it forced the rest of Alec’s team to step back, while even the undead army near him began to crumble under the weight of the shockwave.

Alec, who was the primary target of Dorian’s attack, pressed his hands against his ears but still felt blood streaming from both sides.
