The Golem Mage

628: Tired.

628: Tired.

After Alec finished drawing the runes on the first stone golem, its body began to shine golden light, though not as brightly as when he used the system to automatically evolve his golems.

But still, it indicated that the real evolution process was commencing, as it started to glow and levitate.

Observing this development, Alec quickly moved to the second golem; as he didn’t want to waste any more time.

Delaying at such a crucial moment could be fatal and lead to the destruction of both golems, so he hurriedly added the finishing touches to the second stone golem, causing it to levitate into the air also and emit a similar radiant light like the first.

Once the rune engraving was complete, Alec felt a bit fatigued and opened his status tab to check his remaining mana.

“Shit!” Alec cursed as he saw what little mana remained after the time-consuming engravings.

He had tried his best to ensure that Agnes would receive nothing short of perfection in the breakthrough of her golems.

However, in his focus, he had overlooked a vital aspect of his plan: his mana was what powered the one-time-use rune pens, which had now run out after serving their purpose.

And from what he observed, he would only be able to support the breakthrough of one of the golems, with his current mana, his mind raced as he sought a solution, determined to fulfil the promise he had made to Agnes.

“Agnes!

We’ve reached the final and most critical stage of this evolution, and I’m going to need your help!” Alec called, turning to face her.

“What is it?

As long as it’s within my power, I’ll provide it,” Agnes replied, causing Alec to realize she had misunderstood him, likely thinking he needed something expensive, so he quickly decided to clear the air.

“All I need is a little bit of your mana, it seems I’ve overestimated myself a bit when I decided to take the breakthrough of two Mid rank golems at once , and right now, to make sure there’s no mistake in the final stage of crafting your golems, I need you to send me all the mana you can,” Alec explained, still focused on the task at hand, without looking back at her.

Agnes nodded in response, understanding his request.

As she stepped behind him and gathered her raw mana into her palm, pressing it gently against Alec’s back, sending the energy into him.

The moment her hand made contact, Alec flinched slightly but quickly regained his composure.

Due to their frequent work with arrays and mana transfers, his team had become quite skilled at sharing mana without causing any harm, after all, this wasn’t the first time they’d done something like this.

As Agnes’s mana entered his body, Alec didn’t bother refining it.

Instead, he immediately directed it toward the two levitating golems in the air.

His gaze narrowed as he focused on reshaping them, using the dotted image provided by his inspect skill as a guide to ensure the golems were crafted into their correct forms.

For the first time, Alec was witnessing a golem’s evolution first-hand, not as a bystander, but as the one actively shaping their transformation.

As he carefully poured his mana into the two golems, compressing their large forms into the proper state that matched the dotted outline from the inspect skill instruction.

#Five minutes later,

Alec finally completed the full body reshaping of the golems.

As he stopped the flow of mana, exhaustion overcame him, and he collapsed to the ground.

The golems erupted in a blinding light, much brighter than before, forcing both Alec and Agnes to raise their hands to shield their eyes.

After a few moments, the light receded, and earth element particles swirled around the two golems, as their feet returned to the ground.

Bang!

Agnes stared in disbelief as her two golems knelt on one knee, saluting her with one hand across their chests.

Unlike the clay golems Standing at the side, which needed her direct commands to act, these golems exhibited a rare level of intelligence.

But that wasn’t the only thing that stunned her, their intimidating new forms and powerful aura were overwhelming.

“Rise!” Agnes commanded, and the golems obeyed, standing tall.

As they did, she finally took in their full appearance.

The Stone Guard Golem stood at an imposing six feet, its body no longer the bulky, chubby form it used to be, instead, it now had a powerful, robust physique, resembling a heavily-armoured warrior.

Its stone exterior was shaped like iron armor, though it was entirely made of rock.

In its left hand, it held a large, legionary-style shield, so wide that Agnes felt it could easily cover her entire body if she held it; in its right hand, a broad stone sword pointed downward, crafted with precision and designed for battle.

The golem radiated the aura of a heavy-armoured knight.

Turning to the Stone Gunner Golem, Agnes noted that it also had a robust humanoid form, though it lacked the armor-like appearance of the Stone Guard Golem, but its overall design seemed simpler, more utilitarian, except for its hands, which were far from ordinary.

—

Its two hands were massive from the elbow down, cylindrical in shape, to Alec, they resembled large gun launchers, with the areas where fists should be left hollow, revealing ominous black voids.

Although Alec wasn’t entirely sure about the golem’s specific abilities, he guessed it could shoot projectiles from both hands.

He hadn’t expected the golems to evolve this way when he followed the instruction from his skill, but regardless, he had successfully helped both golems ascend to Tier 4, unlocking possibilities he hadn’t previously considered.

Alec smiled as he lay on the ground, trying to rest and recover enough mana to assist with the evolution of the remaining three clay golems.

When he checked the system notifications, he felt a sense of pride.

Although the points he received for creating the golems were insignificant compared to his total system points he currently had, but the real satisfaction came from accomplishing the task himself.

Though he had experimented with the evolution of his golem, Legion, but this time, he had applied knowledge to help others.

What he had just done opened up new possibilities, as Alec realized he could potentially increase the battle power of all his clansmen by aiding their golems in breakthroughs, especially those who had given up on their golems’ evolution as they weren’t sure which path they could evolve their golems.

Now that he understood another way to earn system points, Alec felt eager to further explore the evolution of his own golems by himself without the system’s help, as he was certain there was more to it than just a few simple rewards.
