Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 647: Chapter 178: The Vote

Cain stared blankly at the decorative mirror,

and the reflection of himself in the mirror looked equally astonished, with an indescribable something in his eyes.

Soon, the facial features in the mirror returned to their original appearance, as if everything that just happened was merely an illusion.

”Go get a body check!”

Judy made a swift decision, signaling to the security department personnel. Two S-Level mutants, the Skinny Monkey and the Giant, grabbed hold of his arms simultaneously.

Two special S-Level superpowers, ’Physical Absorption’ and ’Energy Absorption’ were activated at the same time. In this situation, even if he were Mr. G, he wouldn’t have any choice.

Cain quickly calmed down and said, ”The remaining plan will be arranged by Rogers. Raise the confidentiality level of the meeting to the highest, and after the meeting is over, all unrelated persons, including myself, will undergo memory deletion surgery.”

”Yes, Boss,” a large black man in a suit nodded solemnly.

A crowd of people surrounded Cain as he left, nearly half of whom were S-Level mutants. Without a doubt, the previous fight had opened the eyes of these arrogant individuals.

Layer upon layer of security mechanisms opened, and ultimately, the two of them arrived in front of a massive ’Nest’, its massive Gate of Flesh exuding an indescribable aura.

The Nest, a Level 3 Civilization Architecture, a culmination of incubation chamber technology. Any injury could be repaired, even if only one cell remained, it could reconstruct the body.

It didn’t even need cells; as long as a genetic sequence and memory storage device were left in the Nest, it could reconstruct a ’living person’ as needed.

Besides repair, its greatest function is digestion, cleansing the ’patient’ of all carried bacteria, toxins, and even some implantation software left by cyber hackers.

”When you return, you will preside over the situation again.” Judy operated the system, not turning her head as she spoke.

Cain nodded, not only looking not tense but also relaxed and comforting the others, ”It’s just a small matter, no need to worry too much, wait for my return.”

”You two also had contact with him, you go too!”

Judy looked sternly at the Skinny Monkey and the Giant. The two were taken aback, and after a moment of silence, reluctantly nodded.

For S-Level mutants like them, even for the ’Nest’, reconstructing their form takes a year or more. In this situation, at least, this corporate war has nothing to do with them.

”Hey, you’re just the head of the Electronic Network Department, don’t be so rough with our President!”

Helena said discontentedly to Judy.

Judy was frightened and took a step back.

”Hmph, now you realize you were wrong.”

”You go in too!”

”What?!”

Moments later, on the holographic screen projected by the monitor, Helena, who just spoke, had her facial feature lines transform directly into those of a man.

”If Helena didn’t have contact with Cain, then this ’transmission’ isn’t through physical contact, saliva, breath, or the more troublesome pheromones, biological magnetic field?!”

Judy felt her head was going to explode. In the conference room just now, almost all the executives involved in the corporate war were gathered. If these people got ’infected’, what should be done?

”Arrange mechanical guards to oversee the employees present. Level 5 and above managers enter the Nest for reset, employees below Level 5 undergo live dissection.”

”Also, send me in ten minutes later.”

Judy hesitated for a moment and said,

”If I don’t return in ten minutes, initiate the high-level clone plan.”

As soon as she said this, the voice of the Artificial Intelligence sounded without any emotion.

”The clone of high-level officials needs the signature of all board members. You only have the power of proposal, not the authority to decide.”

”Then submit it to the board!” Judy shouted irritably, ”We are a biological corporation—don’t they understand the harm of this biological virus? Aren’t they worried the enemy will take over, replacing all the executives?”

”Understood, proposal has been submitted to the fast track.”

In the next moment, a small accessory on Judy’s ear, which looked like a decoration, began to transform. A Network Implantation Chamber rapidly materialized. This model of Network Access Chamber isn’t sold on the market at all, its level is exceedingly high.

Almost instantly, Judy broke through the physical layer, the transport link layer, and the network layer, reaching the application layer of Cyber Space.

This kind of speed was unimaginable in past Cyber Space; furthermore, without a specific online device, most people logging onto the net would go crazy.

Now, connecting to Cyber Network is no different than accessing the internet.

Judy’s virtual shell quickly formed amidst the accumulation of digits, and she looked out across the scene. The underlying protocol had turned crimson, and the Sea of Data had disappeared, replaced by a boiling pot filling the entire space.

The Primordial Soup of life, the nurturing mother of planet creatures.

Life particles in the air were so dense it seemed like someone was chattering by her ear.

”Oh, it’s Judy, our network builder.”

”So, what should we call you, Big Sis, Auntie?”

”Judy, there seems to be something different about you.”

”Judy, when can I have a temporary body? I also want to go down and play.”

”Quiet! I’m here to see Mother!”

With Judy’s shouting, all the voices stopped abruptly.

Before the digital signal could fully form, Judy pulled out the faintly visible skin, with its target code not fully stitched, and rushed deeper in.

She could vaguely sense that besides the ’Life Soup’, other large-scale transformations were also taking place in the Cyber Space.

”Mother, mother!!”

”My child, why are you here?” a loving voice rang out.

Finally, Judy reached the deepest part, and when the digital signals had become so intense that they spawned indescribable, unviewable illusions, she finally found her target.

It was a pregnant woman, her face plain and unremarkable, but upon closer inspection, every line on her skin was as numerous as endlessly dividing cells.

She was not tall nor had any aura, but apart from her children, no one could look directly at her.

Because, looking at her would lead one into the abyss of cell division.

”Mother!”

The closer Judy got to her, the smaller her stature became, her features turned more childish, eventually transforming into a little girl.

”Good child, why are you here? Do you want some candy?” she asked gently.

”Mother, when you consumed the other party before, did you completely eat them? Is there no virus residue?”

”Good child, why would you ask such a thing?”

”Because Cain, Helena, and even possibly I have been infected by some ability of theirs. I’m not sure if it’s some kind of illusion or what.”

Judy paused and said, ”But we are a biological enterprise, and our defenses against bioweapons are the most stringent. If he could penetrate layers of defense and interfere with us, that means a big problem has arisen! Genetic Lock? Cell Controller? Or some Consciousness Sensing Controller?”

”Child, don’t scare yourself. That Mr. G is completely and utterly dead, no doubt about it.”

’Mother’ shifted her tone,

”However, you make a good point. I will descend my will to assist you in inspection, preventing any fish from slipping through the net.”

”I investigated, and some time ago, a power used some unknown means to hire countless powerful hackers in the underground world. It seems that this mysterious power is the Du Gao Group.”

Judy continued,

”Mother, if you sense signs of a hacker attack, be sure to notify me immediately. Our Electronic Network Defense Department is here to deal with this scum.”

”Okay, okay, mother listens to you.”

Judy then gave many other instructions, all of which ’Mother’ nodded in agreement with. It was only then that Judy felt relieved, saying with a hint of reluctance:

”Mother, after entering the Nest, I fear I won’t be able to see you for a while, but rest assured, another version of me will take care of you.”

”Hehe, then hurry back, mother will miss you.”

After Judy’s virtual shell dissipated, ’Mother’ slowly looked towards the sky, as if she could see the starry sky beyond the Electronic Grid.

And her gaze was a live demonstration of countless cells self-dividing.

She looked down at her slightly swollen belly, speaking lovingly to herself:

”Oh you, why won’t you come out.”

...

In another meeting room that had been completely disinfected, Cain, Judy, Helena, Rogers, and another executive were gathered to discuss matters.

The scene seemed like ten minutes ago.

The people were still the same few but also not those five.

To be precise, they were Genetic Clones.

The Clone Executive Plan, one of some corporations’ most guarded strategies.

The theoretical basis is that once anomalies like assassination, brainwashing, or betrayal occur at the top levels, prepared 100% clones are activated to completely renew the leadership.

In fact, every super corporation will have similar backup plans.

But truth be told, not many are used.

One executive is assassinated, then promote another executive.

One executive attempts rebellion, directly remove them, then send your own corporate assassin to erase them.

One executive sells out company interests, first control them, then punish based on the amount of bribery.

Unless absolutely necessary, there won’t be scenarios where an entire leadership is rooted out.

The reason is simple: would you hand your wealth, status, wife, and children over to a complete stranger?

You wouldn’t, let alone those bigwigs far above you in status, wealth, and enjoyment.

So, generally, the super corporations capable of preemptively renewing all leadership before a crisis are extremely rare; only those with a very strong Corporate Will can suppress the various intrigues and interests entwined at the executive level, forcibly renew the bloodline.

And Vinos Life Safety Group is such a company.

Because its Corporate Will is not only a ’Biological Computer’ and ’Artificial Intelligence’, but more importantly, she is ’Mother’.

At this time, ’Cain’ with a trademark smile, spoke, ”Then, according to my proposal, let’s launch a regional Corporate War in advance and unify this area as soon as possible. Let the voting begin.”

One by one, arms slowly rose.

No one opposed.
