Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 645: Chapter 176: Inferior Ascension

Seeing the face in front of him, Gao Gong suddenly had a strange thought in his mind.

’It used to always be the mechanical bodies having bad luck, now it’s finally my flesh and blood’s turn.’

Gao Gong’s previous plan was to ’fake death’, but plans can’t keep up with changes. Who could have imagined that the Vinos Life Safety Group would develop biological computers so deeply, with their 6.0 version large-scale biological computer completely crushing his own 2.0 version portable lightweight model.

Pretending to be dead couldn’t go on, which was quite a pain.

But fortunately, Gao Gong had long prepared for various plans and conducted simulations, and this current scenario was still within his handling range. If operated well, it might even be a great opportunity.

Facing the other’s inquiry, Gao Gong pondered for a moment, then said:

”We each ask the other a question, and then answer seriously, how about that?”

’Gao Gong’ nodded:

”Okay.”

”Then I’ll answer your question first, it’s the ’Advanced Information’ that can influence the laws of physics, which actively removed my human virus.”

Gao Gong briefly explained the classification of three types of ’information levels’, and as expected, the other party showed a surprised expression, then nodded thoughtfully.

”So pure information evolution can reach this level.”

”Of course, haven’t you also reached this level, being a super administrator in the micro domain? Perhaps you should introduce yourself too.”

”I was born 60 years ago. It was the third-generation ’Vinos’ that created me, making me into a ’Genetic Editor’. The purpose was for genetic editing and microscopic biological research. Later, with continuous iterations, my capabilities expanded more broadly, and my entanglements with the Vinos clan deepened. Eventually, the Vinos clan made a decision to abandon all carbon-based breeding methods and instead handed over the clan’s genes to me for genome pairing and biochemical instruction coding.”

”And so, I became the mother of all ’Vinos’.”

Gao Gong nodded, which was within his expectations. After all, even in the Cyber Test Field, where perversions gathered, those conducting biotechnology were always ranked at the forefront.

Computer breeding, so be it.

”So, you are the genetic computer among biological computers.”

Among all types of biological computers, the role of genetic computers is always ranked at the forefront. The reason being, ’next generation aptitude’ is very important in any force, especially for some civilization-level super soldiers. Just relying on the wild, it could no longer be born; genetic adjustment work had to start from birth.

”Alright, now it’s your turn to ask.”

’Gao Gong’ thought for a moment:

”From you, I sensed similar information, how did your ’biological computer’ come to be?”

”Through evolution. To be precise, aside from implanting radiation beast organs and cells, most importantly, it relied on stimulation from mechanical bodies.”

”Stimulation, how?” ’Gao Gong’ became interested.

”That is for the next question to ask.”

’Gao Gong’ had a peculiar radiance in his eyes, saying:

”Then hurry and ask.”

In this kind of ’information exchange’, both parties had means to judge the truth in each other’s words. Of course, if you got fooled, that’s just your own fault.

Gao Gong looked at the reflection of his mechanical body on the ’wall’, suddenly saying something that made the other party stunned:

”I think you were just lying, at least not entirely telling the truth.”

’Gao Gong’ frowned:

”Is that a question? Whether I deceived you or not, as a hacker, this much you should know.”

Gao Gong nodded. Although cyber hackers couldn’t withstand the information flow of corporate mainframes head-on, when it came to cunning and variability, corporate mainframes were just scraps in the eyes of cyber hackers.

”You said that in the hands of the third-generation ’Vinos’, you were a genetic editor. I believe that.”

”But to say you are just a ’genetic editor’, or an enhanced version of a ’genetic computer’, that I do not believe.”

”At least after the birth of ’Corporate Will’, this is entirely untrue.”

Gao Gong smiled, while the other ’Gao Gong’ squinted fiercely.

”Let’s put it this way, I’ll give you a definition: In the hardware layer, you are the former genetic editor, the now genetic computer.”

”But on the system layer, you are not the mother of the ’Vinos’ clan members, nor are you a simple large-scale corporate AI.”

”You are the Corporate Will of Vinos Life Safety Group!!”

Gao Gong paused for a moment, then said:

”Corporate Will cannot exist independently from the corporation; in fact, it can only influence a very small portion of people.”

”Exactly, that’s why you became the ’Mother,’ the mother of all Vinos corporate employees. All the employees’ genes have been re-edited by you, branded with Thought Steel Seal, and the entire Biological Group has been completely devoured by you. The notion of free will does not exist; each of them is merely one of your avatars, playing the roles you want them to play!”

”Absurd!”

As those words were spoken, the whole electronic wall began to enclose Gao Gong, endlessly high and long. The electronic code disappeared, replaced by a mass of flesh and organs, human heads, peeled skin, nailed to the wall either in agony or ecstasy.

What Helena referred to as ’Recycling Station Welfare’ is actually not just customer welfare, but also employee welfare.

”Another group of victims of technological evolution.”

Gao Gong sighed; such things are very common in the Cyber Test Field. The Light Technology Tree lacks ethics and does not create a social ecology, which makes it easy for technology to run rampant and be completely backfired.

”But conversely—”

Gao Gong looked at the electronic wall. Although he could no longer see it completely, he knew undoubtedly there would be a pair of eyes staring indifferently from deep within.

”You, however, have become a successful inferior ascendant.”

The immense information pressure caused Gao Gong’s mechanical body to start disintegrating bit by bit, but upon hearing those words, the formidable computational pressure composed of billions of lives suddenly paused for a moment.

”What is inferior ascension?”

Gao Gong said with interest:

”You don’t know, right. To ensure the purity of technological research, generally speaking, Mother City would not give you the opportunity for external communication. You are all unaware of how extraordinary you are.”

”Let me explain simply; you must have heard of Civilization Ascension, where the fire of civilization lights up the spark of technology, and then enjoys the renewal of entire species and technological systems. The ruling force of the entire universe is civilization, and only civilization.”

”Ascension is based on civilization.”

”But obviously, developing a civilization is an immensely difficult task. Not to mention a generation or two cannot manage it, even hundreds of generations may not necessarily achieve it; many people wish to enjoy the benefits of ascension without paying the price of civilization, hence they artificially create the concept of ’inferior ascension.’”

”Strictly speaking, inferior ascension cannot be considered ascension; it is but a guise to artificially acquire a small fragment of ascension’s power. While this power is but a tiny fraction compared to true ascension, it is immensely beneficial for the individual.”

Speaking on ascension, Gao Gong became very enthusiastic:

”For instance, have you heard of electronic ascension, where one’s data is reprinted using the ’Cyber Space’ source code, and then during the upgrade node of Cyber Space, say during this corporate war, one’s code is embedded into the code pile, making Mother City pinch its nose to recognize it as part of the ’code pile,’ gaining planet-level user permissions.”

”Programmers know the more the underlying code is altered, the greater the chance of bugs, so as long as it’s not excessive, Mother City would allow this code pile to exist.”

”This is electronic ascension, though it has little to do with ascension. If anything, it resembles some electronic life survival mode.”

”But ’Corporate Will’ is different; I believe this is specially arranged by an Upper Civilization, referencing some practices of the Giant Corporation Civilization, mixing personal and collective, will and organization, crazily tangled together. Despite its chaos, this evolution can skillfully avoid the ethical pitfalls of ’civilization’ and achieve inferior ascension.”

”For example, your ’Corporate Will,’ in my view, seems to have a bit of ’Hive Civilization’ flavor; personal and collective are no longer distinguished, except others are unified, and you are blended. You need to continuously deceive and transform employees, reduce employees’ self-awareness and rebellion probability, only then can sustain the continued development of ’Vinos Life Safety Group.’”

”After all, without employees, a corporation is like water without a source.”

This time, it was not Gao Gong speaking, but a steady female voice instead, sounding like the voice of millions compressed into an audio format.

”Who exactly are you, and what is your connection to those aliens from 60 years ago?”

”Suspecting I’m an alien, you are indeed correct to suspect that, but I don’t intend to say more.”

Gao Gong did not retreat but advanced, directly walking towards the ’endless’ electronic wall, placing his hand on the wall, and in an instant, countless biological codes directly crushed his arm and continued to shatter his entire body from the arm.

”You lost the Whack-a-Mole game because you cheated, you temporarily inhabited a certain employee’s corpse and unlocked the ’Civilization Weapon’ password.”

”But you completely underestimated the connection between carbon-based and mechanical in the Fusion Route, which exceeded your imagination and also exceeded my expectations, considering they are also first-timers and lack experience.”

Gao Gong grew more excited as he spoke, even as half of his mechanical body was already gone.

”Separation is unity; unity is also separation; the two are not severed. This is why, after you devoured half of me, the other half could still enter the ’Great Serpent State.’

”I attempted to rescue ’myself’ from your computational system, but that was a mistaken thought.”

”I and ’I’ were not separated at all.”

After saying this last sentence, Gao Gong’s mechanical body completely turned into powder, and in reality, Gao Gong fighting the S-Level Mutant suddenly vanished abruptly.
