Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 633: Chapter 164: Target: Undead City

Not just the ’Futureist’ settlement.

In fact, after concluding the meeting with the ’Brain-Machine Developer’, Gao Gong visited ten settlements within three days.

The results are not promising.

More than half of the ten settlements show signs of being infected, indicating that the ’Brain-Machine Virus’ has spread beyond the city and is expanding across the continent like wildfire.

In this situation, even if Gao Gong destroys the three infected Mechanical Cities and kills all the external executives of the Vinos Life Safety Group, the problem still won’t be solved.

Furthermore, with issues like water circulation and biological circulation, not only will the entire pharmaceutical district become a virus zone, but the ’Brain-Machine Virus’ will spread globally.

By then, not only will the Foundation’s plans be ruined, but his own schemes in the Corporate War will be ruined as well.

With the gale raging, Gao Gong sprouted a pair of wings from a B-level Flying Radiation Beast from his back and flew north.

As for the ’Host Brain’, Gao Gong was holding it in his hand.

”Boss, cough, cough, where are we headed now?”

”There are six Mechanical Cities; the Du Gao Group occupied one, the Neuro Editing Group occupied another, and the Vinos Life Safety Group infected three, which means there’s still one Mechanical City that’s unharmed, right?”

”Yes.”

”Why?”

”Uh, what do you mean why?”

”Why did the ’Brain-Machine Virus’ infect three Mechanical Cities but specifically spare that one.”

The Host Brain was about to explain when it suddenly froze, right, why indeed?

It’s known that the ’Biochemical Brain Machine’ doesn’t require massive forced transformation of Mechanical Species like normal tech route Brain-Machines, and it can rapidly spread just by inserting an ordinary infected.

If the attack on Hive City and Puppet City was to avoid conflict at the outset of war to gain as much ’artificial data’ as possible, then why not target the last Mechanical City?

It’s very likely that there’s something within that Mechanical City that restrains the ’Biochemical Brain Machine’.

”What’s the background on the last Mechanical City?”

A huge amount of data instantly refreshed on the face display of the Host Brain.

”Undead Mechanical City, that name is quite unique,” Gao Gong raised his eyebrows.

According to the data, the Undead Mechanical City is the death Garbage District within the pharmaceutical area, specially designated for accommodating ’patients’ who are on the brink of death due to failed drug use.

These individuals are slated to die within 10 days, 100 days, or even a year, and to prevent these ’terminal patients’ from despairing, they are forcibly sent there to be received by the ’Undead City’.

”Boss, according to the data, there might be real undead in this Mechanical City,” the Host Brain stated excitedly.

”Do you believe that?” Gao Gong countered.

”Of course, I’m a theist.”

”Well, I wouldn’t have guessed.”

”Boss, do you think what’s written in the data is true?”

”Not sure, maybe some lethal drug’s effects dissipated midway through, or possibly some unique factor caused a temporary suspension of life signs resulting in a pseudo-death phenomenon, or perhaps it’s purely human fabrication.”

Gao Gong had some unspoken thoughts, there’s also the possibility of some information residual phenomena.

If it’s the latter case, then things might get a bit complicated.

...

The Undead City is located at the northernmost end of the pharmaceutical district, bordering the sea. From Gao Gong’s current location, it would take approximately half an hour to get there at normal flight speed.

During the flight, Gao Gong maintained Radiation Invisibility.

Of course, Gao Gong could use Instant Teleportation to appear inside the northern city instantly.

However, Gao Gong didn’t want to reveal his ability so soon, as all surveillance satellites operate round the clock during the Corporate War, monitoring without dead angles. Playing any hand will lead relevant corporate departments to establish a ’Crisis Response Team’ to counter your move immediately.

And Gao Gong was sure that there are more than one surveillance satellites currently overhead.

Suddenly, Gao Gong’s face slightly changed as he looked up at the nearby sky. Amidst the clear sky, dozens of small black dots suddenly appeared.

’Missile attack on me?’

’Who has such poor taste?’

In a violent sonic boom, a white line suddenly appeared behind Gao Gong, the flight speed instantly breaking the sound barrier.

However, the missile speeds are evidently faster than twice the sound speed, and the distance between them continued to close rapidly.

Gao Gong frowned, contemplating accelerating further, but his peripheral vision caught the Host Brain’s face refreshing with countless ’help’ icons.

If he accelerated further, the Host Brain would likely crash completely.

Gao Gong shook his head, extending his arm. Surface skin erupted with hundreds of energy jets as golden light shone from the entire forearm.

The relationship between the alliance and the Alliance Leader is mutually reinforcing.

A powerful Alliance Leader benefits the alliance greatly.

The reverse is true as well.

The earliest version of the Energy Ion Beam had an Attack Power of only 3000 and an extremely short range, not exceeding a hundred meters.

After undergoing dozens of updates, adopting the most advanced ’Body-Carried Energy Weapon Design’ on the market, its Attack Power has long surpassed 15,000, with range utilizing compressed energy design reaching 10 kilometers, rivaling some weapons of the Mother City in parameters.

More importantly, drawing inspiration from ’Mas Sharpness’ some abnormal designs, corporate weapon designers unexpectedly devised a gadget called ’Curved Beam’.

This amusing device enables frequency adjustments to produce a ’deflection effect’ for the Energy Beam.

Modern missiles have installed intelligent modules, instinctively climbing in the face of dense energy showers. Yet, among them, nearly half of the Energy Beams abruptly veered upwards by 90 degrees in mid-air, with the missiles too late to turn, resulting in a chain of explosions as numerous metal fragments blossomed into brilliant fireworks.

”Boss, someone’s targeting us!”

Once on the ground, a garbled mess appeared on the Host Brain’s face, shouting once code was restored.

”You’ve noticed, so clever,” Gao Gong retorted while staying vigilant toward the sky.

”No, boss, how are others aware of our destination when only you and I know about this operation? More importantly, haven’t we been invisible the entire way.”

”Indeed, how could we be discovered so quickly? As I recall, Vinos Life Safety Group’s satellite monitoring technology isn’t this advanced.” Gao Gong muttered.

”Or is there a radar on the ground that counters invisibility I haven’t detected?”

”Or perhaps——”

A vivid memory surfaced, showing Gao Gong’s flesh transforming into a ’White-eyed Crow’ during surveillance.

Later on, the crow returned, carrying a ’skin-colored stripe’ on the back of the head.

Interpreted as an embryo of the Biochemical Brain Machine.

Brain-Machines require data cables, but they can work wirelessly too.

Developed by ’Vinos Life Safety’, their Biochemical Brain Machine likely includes wireless networking.

This potentially explains why they were instantly discovered.

”Let’s go,” Gao Gong wiped out the faint smoke from his arm. ”The more they try to deter us, the more it proves we’re on the right track.”

The Host Brain got up in haste, trailing behind Gao Gong, muttering grumpily.

”Boss, why do you want me, a logistics staff, to frontline with you? I can assist you from the rear.”

”Mainly because you’re smart enough to offer some good on-site advice.”

”Boss, I didn’t expect you to value me like this!”

”Of course, you’re the future backbone of our Du Gao Group.”

As they bantered, advancing towards the Undead City, seemingly unaware of tree, ground, and sky watching them with many eyes.

Meanwhile, in the Brain Gully Mechanical City, numerous Biological Computers were assembled, a cold voice echoed from the host system.

’Brain-Machine Local Area Network, Biological Management System, activated.’
