Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 573: Chapter 106: Mechanical Descent

”Micro-level mechanical technology?”

On the space battleship, Gao Gong, or rather, the mechanical body known as Gao, spoke with a hint of surprise.

Is this the standard of a Skull Society member, casually pulling out a civilization weapon, and especially the troublesome microscopic weapon?

Aside from the ’Continent Plate Impact Device,’ this was the second civilization weapon the other party had revealed.

And undoubtedly, this was definitely not their trump card.

Generally speaking, even in a normal civilization, possessing a two-digit number of civilization weapons is a sign of a mature civilization, indicating that in a civilization war of the same level, you won’t easily suffer a defeat.

But as a corporate force within a planet, simply pulling out such a civilization weapon is a bit intimidating.

”Everything is within our plans,” said Miao Miaomiao, also known as Ms. Cat.

Gao Gong rubbed his nose, thought for a moment, and decided to slightly increase his regard for the other party.

Being able to develop civilization weapons of this level indicates that the other party has definitely mastered not just one knowledge chain, and it’s likely a type that they themselves don’t possess.

For monopoly-level corporations, the knowledge chain is the greatest capital for monopoly, newly grown branches of the technology tree, and absolutely not something to be traded.

But for members of the Skull Society, who knows, with these madmen, as long as the benefits offered are enough, they might even dare to touch the Mother City.

”Then, prepare for the 4th stage of the virus upgrade.”

Gao Gong closed his eyes, and several data lines shot out from the mechanical body, connecting to the laboratory of the mothership. A massive amount of experimental data was downloaded and simultaneously transmitted into the organism’s body.

Meanwhile, on Atomic City, now known as Atomic Island, the organism opened its eyes, and in her eyes were a series of ’illusory screens.’ A large amount of data combined with ground experiments, and under the full activation of a biological computer, began the fourth evolution of the virus.

This evolution wasn’t directed at the players; in fact, it was conversely a ’temporary enhancement’ for them.

[Congratulations to player ’Dida’ for unlocking the 50th layer of the secret realm and completing the third stage mission]

[Atomic Heart unlocks the ’4th Stage’]

”What?!”

The 39th layer’s Brother Umbrella, the 38th layer’s Sister Ji, the 31st layer’s Centaur General, including many resurrected high-end players, were astonished to receive the system notifications.

Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella’s face turned dark. Being the first to change profession at Level 20, the first at Level 30, and most likely the first player to complete Carbon Fusion, he had enough confidence that at least on this planet’s map, he was the strongest.

This suddenly appearing ’Dida’ was one of the few opponents he took seriously.

However, during the third stage mission, being an assassin profession with high burst and agility, his equipment’s durability naturally decreased quickly, so he naturally got hit by a ghost virus and died on the spot.

After finally waiting for a resurrection and managing to reach the 39th secret map again, the opponent completed the mission.

Didn’t they die? What a pain!

”Damn, Brother Umbrella, look at the fourth stage mission!”

On a nearby island, Baozi somehow pulled out an electronic megaphone, shouting at him.

Next stage?

Brother Umbrella opened the player panel, quickly furrowed his brows, and then lifted them again, revealing an excited expression.

’The liberation of Atomic Heart naturally attracted the covetous eyes of the era’s rulers, sending the most dangerous minions, civilization’s modifiers, the extinguishers of species, Tier 2 full-level lifeforms, Power Faction robots to seize the virus.’

’To ensure that this dangerous entity wouldn’t be exploited, Dr. Xie temporarily modified part of the virus attributes, and players are asked to inject the ’Virus Inhibitor’ obtained in the first stage, to stimulate the body and gain attribute enhancement.’

’Players without the ’Virus Inhibitor,’ please promptly head to coordinates 1311·4145 to trade with player ’Dida,’ exchanging mission points for the ’Virus Inhibitor.’’

’Task Reward 1: For every 1000 blood volume dropped from a ’Power Faction robot,’ you earn an equivalent amount of mission points.’

’Task Reward 2: Inflict permanent mechanical system damage on a ’Power Faction robot’ to gain +2,000,000 experience and 10 random blueprints.’

’Task Reward 3: Kill a ’Power Faction robot’ to gain +10,000,000 experience, +5000 regional reputation, 10 specialization points, Tier 2 custom weapon (Mas Sharpness) *1, Tier 2 custom prosthetic body (Mas Sharpness) *1’

Note 1: Against Super Mechanical Life, virus fragments within your body may yield miraculous effects.

Note 2: Dr. Xie temporarily modified the virus parameters of island organisms, allowing you to temporarily exchange mission points for assistance from NPCs and Radiation Beasts on the island.

Note 3: Failure of this stage’s mission will cancel all previous points, ending the Hell-level task ’Atomic Heart.’

”Damn!”

”What the hell? If I can’t beat the robots, aren’t all my days of grinding points wasted?”

”Team up! Team up! Prioritize recruiting remote and air combat type players!”

”Brothers with over 30% prosthetic body modifications, gather with me!”

”Does anyone have large area survey skills to support? I can handle the cannon!!”

Once the task was released, tens of thousands of players on the map were alarmed. It couldn’t have come at a better time, where the first batch of deceased players still largely remained, and the second batch of resurrected players weren’t long revived, making the island incredibly crowded.

As soon as they heard about taking on a boss, and a Level 60 full-level boss at that, all the players were stirred! Some wealthy players even announced on the spot that they’d purchase boss materials at high prices, leaving the price open-ended.

Many players even started livestreaming, preparing to share the event on the forum simultaneously—

’Brothers, slow down on killing, leave us a bit of soup to drink!’

’Ahhh, had I known, I wouldn’t have messed around. I want to hunt the boss too!’

’Damn, a Level 60 mechanical system boss, that’s amazing!’

As players were discussing and shouting, Brother Umbrella had already inserted a syringe into his shoulder.

A potent heat sensation rapidly surged through his body, and for some reason, Brother Umbrella suddenly felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.

[You injected the ’Virus Enhancer (Dr. Xie Special),’ Power +10 (temporary), Agility +10 (temporary), Endurance +10 (temporary), Intelligence +10 (temporary), Perception +10 (temporary)]

[Your organism efficiency +20%]

[Your blood volume +1000 (temporary)]

So many increases?

For such a level of mission, with this level of enhancement, how terrifying must the enemies be that they are up against?

Brother Umbrella furrowed his brows; just how strong must Hell-level monsters be?

However, the other players weren’t overthinking it, instead, they were exuberantly shouting.

”Damn, awesome, what kind of shot is this? I want ten shots!”

”Not scientific, this one shot is equivalent to me leveling up ten times.”

”Is this the legendary T-virus?”

”666.”

But apart from the silly players, the high-end players all showed solemn expressions. Nobody was foolish; for a Hell-level mission with such generous boosts, just how exaggerated must the opponent be?

...

At this moment, as the first player to complete the third stage task, Dida stood beside the projection of ’Dr. Xie,’ and frowned, ”Are the mechanical lifeforms of the Mother City so strong, requiring you to do this?”

Others may not understand, but as the ’distributor of medicine,’ she knew that these virus agents contained the flesh power of Mr. G. In other words, Gao Gong’s essence was already possessing these players.

’Dr. Xie’ chuckled, ”You’ll know soon enough.”

A Level 60 mechanical system boss, with the current player level, if he didn’t intervene, it would certainly be a one-sided slaughter.

Soon, a small black dot appeared in the sky, the black dot flashed, and the next moment, a violent gale descended, visible white waves burst directly from the air, forming a huge air dome. The entire sea, affected by it, began to concave downwards, causing the Atomic Island Group to drift. Many players, not even having seen the boss, fell into the seawater and died miserably.

It took a full ten minutes for the sea level to stabilize. After calm was restored, two mechanical giants abruptly appeared, hovering in the sky. The massive energy outlets gushed out terrifying heat, and the enormous mechanical shell was filled with the explosive power characteristic of carbon-based creatures. The dominating, yet seemingly tangible simulated vision swept across, and an electronic retina marked—

This was the number of ants to be cleared.
