Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 559: Chapter 92: Recruiting Talent

Large sum of money?

For Director Du to refer to it as a large sum, it definitely isn’t a small amount.

Gao Gong glanced at the ’electronic invoice’ and found that the remittance was from the Other Shore of Freedom. The project was named ’Beautiful Youth Heaven,’ which doesn’t sound like a legitimate name.

However, Gao Gong immediately made a sound of realization, understanding who it was. Capsule Man H and Sister Ji, one an electronic shut-in among NPCs, the other a butter master among players. Back in Nightless City, in order to make money, he gave these two a task to promote the ’Sensory Handsome Man’ series he developed in his past life in the most urban areas of this planet. It seems they did well.

But it was inconvenient to tell Director Du this, since Du was so righteous. If she knew he was dabbling in adult games, he might be censored. So, he vaguely introduced it to Director Du, merely saying it was the work of his subordinates and that she need not worry.

Director Du wasn’t suspicious, quickly accepted it, and proactively brought up another matter.

”The things you asked me to prepare, I’ve mostly got them ready. Rushing to build the Earth Crust Engine is really for this level of transformation surgery, which requires a lot of resources. But time is tight, some materials haven’t been acquired yet. I’m mobilizing company channels to find substitutes...”

Gao Gong listened seriously, for no other reason than that it concerns his job change.

Although Gao has completed Carbon Fusion and reached Tier 2, don’t forget, he hasn’t changed jobs yet.

For players, changing jobs is naturally foreseeable: brush up alliance favor, join the alliance, then automatically change jobs.

When Gao Gong first traversed worlds, it was like this, directly becoming the ’Mechanical Hunter,’ later ’Slaughter Hunter,’ ’Planet Hunter,’ essentially upgrade versions of the same profession.

As an alliance leader, however, he couldn’t act this way. Firstly, at least on this planet he’s already a major player, with no superior to rely on. Secondly, as an alliance leader, he should naturally exhibit the highest technological level of his alliance, necessitating the opening of a new professional system, a responsibility befitting the leading boss.

For an ordinary player, this would naturally be confusing and completely uncertain how to proceed.

But as an experienced individual who’s established civilization before, he’s done ample preliminary preparation.

”...since you’ve already obtained those magical abilities, bring over the experts we’ve recruited from various places.”

”Now?”

”Of course, efficiency is key.”

”...Alright.”

Gao Gong rubbed his waist and leg, sighed, and directly activated his ’space travel’ ability, disappearing without a trace.

Space travel requires energy consumption, but not related to distance. In other words, traveling 1000 meters and 10000 meters modifies the same space parameters.

The bumps during ’travel,’ however, are the actual sources of energy consumption.

For instance, if in one space there’s a fully operational Earth Crust Engine, the violent energy changes the surrounding space parameters. Even a change of 0.0001 will interrupt the ’dimensional line,’ causing energy consumption to increase exponentially.

Iron Sand Desert, once the Central Desert, is now lush, with various small animals running around, completely unrecognizable from a year ago as the Radiation Beast’s paradise and home to man-eating monsters.

Deep within the forest, an ancient rebuilt research institute seems to have gained quite a few new members. A clearly malfunctioning bionic being with one hand holding a stack of documents awkwardly walked through the gate.

Its left arm module clearly had issues, forcing the arm to move mechanically, while the right leg was missing a knee, walking like a wobbling toy.

As the pneumatic gate opened, more and more bionic researchers appeared, each with body issues, giving a ’uncanny valley effect,’ upon first glance.

These odd bionics, from a human perspective, are ’disabled.’ As per the bionic factory’s designation, they are unqualified products, needing destruction.

No one knows where Professor Han recruited these talents.

In the top floor laboratory, Professor Han was writing at his desk, clearly showing signs of aging. This aging wasn’t visible on his skin as bionic skin can be replaced at any time, rather it was evident in his eyes and movements.

For example, from time to time, data flashed across Professor Han’s eyes, a sign of ’brain unit’ data redundancy—layman’s term for early dementia. His writing hand also hesitated, though infrequently, seeming more machine-like without oil than human.

Upon hearing footsteps, Professor Han spoke without lifting his head: ”Help me extract the materials of the human bionic series, I want to take them with me.”

”Professor Han, what are you busy with? Come have tea together when you have time, eh?”

Upon hearing the familiar voice, Professor Han suddenly raised his head, instantly seeing an acquaintance—a tall figure with wild and handsome features, and an increasingly strong biological aura.

”Are you here to fetch me?” Professor Han exclaimed, ”I thought it was the special plane in three days.”

”Three days is too slow, so I came,” Gao Gong smiled. ”By the way, loads of bionics outside, what’s going on?”

”Factory rejects, up for destruction; I used some connections to get them over.”

”Professor, when did you become so benevolent?”

”Probably because I’m dying, so doing a good deed for once,” Professor Han said calmly, then, before Gao Gong could respond, continued: ”You come just at the right time, the materials are ready. Look, a total of 73 orders, 4214 categories, a third of this planet’s known Radiation Beast species are classified. However, this is just part of the organism section. Some biological data has been verified, others have not.”

Verified data naturally refers to implanted biological chips, successful transformation into biological hunters. Unverified, on the other hand, are failed biological transformations or yet to undergo transformation.

As a backstage boss, Gao Gong nurtures these inferior subordinates largely for hunter experiments. Each new biological hunter sequence validates one biological transformation possibility.

You could call these inhumane human experiments, yet on a willing basis. Compared to other alliances, the hunter provides reasonable retirement benefits.

At least it’s better than those treating people as expendable, uploading thought boxes even in overwork deaths, continuing work as ’thought models’ for major corporations—here it’s quite favorable.

”Alright, discuss these later, let’s leave now.”

”How to—”

Before Han completed his sentence, his sight blurred. En route, he seemed to see a purple thin line extending into the void.

Upon snapping back to reality, he was already on an island.

”Welcome to the Northern Hemisphere, Professor,” a Mechanical Guard said.

”...”

In another place, above the seas of the 9th District of Mechanical Split Star, the sky suddenly exhibited a transparent giant funnel. Surrounding clouds vanished. As the funnel contracted, it gradually revealed a human form, meanwhile, the clouds beside it reappeared.

”Another space crease?”

In Gao Gong’s field of view, two ’dimensional lines’ were intricately entangled, indicating the place he just traversed definitely had space parameter changes.

Gao Gong shook his head helplessly, it was fine going to Iron Sand Desert, but coming to the 9th District, this was already the third time.

This suggests beneath the sea or in the sky, there must be a hidden Tier 3 architecture, though unknown to which enterprise.

For corporate war, everyone’s holding out their big moves.

Glancing at the Advanced Energy Pool within ’Purple String Space,’ originally filled with 100,000 energy grids now reduced to double digits, with a few breaths returning to triple digits, then quadruple, all within five seconds, refilled.

Advanced Energy Body isn’t a perpetual motion machine, yet, as for space system energy, merely staying in physical space ensures automatic energy recovery, the speed of which exceeds imagination.

This highlights the bug aspect of the ’Destruction Form.’

When Gao Gong reappeared, he was already on Fucheng Island.
