Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Sister Ji groggily woke up, her whole body feeling limp and weak, like she had been... by a dozen handsome strong men.

As for why she was so familiar with this feeling, duh, that’s the plot of every spring dream she has.

’I must file a complaint, if there’s no compensation, I’ll pretend to be a student’s parent and report this!’

Sister Ji raised her hand, which had disappeared, replaced by a tentacle. As her eyes opened wide in terror, the tentacle began to split, one into ten, ten into a hundred. In an instant, countless implant threads swayed with Sister Ji’s emotions, just like a ’Shamate’ youth shaking his head — you could see how intense this female player’s emotions were.

”Holy shit!!! I’ve turned into a tentacle monster!”

Sister Ji sat up abruptly, her long hair flinging out and piercing the ground, leaving tiny puncture marks.

”Crap, even my hair!”

With a thought, the wire-like hair swiftly retracted back into the artificial scalp, quickly changing her from Tentacle Girl to Bionic Nun.

Shivering, Sister Ji lifted the cloth cover over her lower body, and sure enough, there appeared a pair of tiny steel-thread wrapped feet, a bit cute, but more so bizarre.

”Ahhhhh, who wrapped my feet like this? Death to all feudal remnants and rites!!!!”

As Sister Ji’s emotions reached their peak, her head full of ’hard hair’, the tentacle-like arms, and the two steel-thread little feet all burst open, turning into countless threads flailing about. For a moment, it was as if Sister Ji had turned into a cyber version of Fu Jiang and a punk version of Kayako, the scene was extremely terrifying.

Hearing the commotion, Miss Sakura floated in, looked at the blood-stained, flexibly moving ’steel wires’, and nodded with satisfaction.

”Looks like the modification was a success.”

Sister Ji was furious, countless steel wires stabbed toward the other like raindrops, but Miss Sakura remained calm, her figure retreating a step back and disappearing behind the door as the hair approached her.

”Although the surgery was successful, I suggest you avoid intense movement, your ’implant threads’ still need some time to adjust.”

Sure enough, after the ’outburst’, Sister Ji immediately felt extremely exhausted, her ’Physical Strength Value’ hit rock bottom, reverting to her nun form, leaning against the operating table, panting heavily.

”Damn, don’t make me gather three thousand players to tear down your crappy club.”

Unfortunately, these words were just a string of gibberish to Miss Sakura’s ears.

”I thought you would be satisfied with this modification.”

Miss Sakura said somewhat confused, in the underground world, everyone was chasing power, now with the advanced modification done, it seemed the other was not satisfied?

”Of course not, I wanted an E, and you gave me an A, do you think I can be satisfied?”

Sister Ji’s emotions finally calmed down, only then did she realize she was in a game, an unsatisfactory modification could be redone, and if not, she could always kill herself to change accounts.

’It’s all because this damn game is too realistic, it scared me into thinking I got randomly modded in real life.’

But once Sister Ji opened the player panel, she was immediately excited.

Name: Sister Ji

Race: Implanted Person

Profession: Implanter lv2

Personal Attributes: Power 10, Agility 13, Endurance 9, Intelligence 12, Perception 15

Skills: Implant Thread Control lv5, Memory Implantation lv4, Human Body Implantation lv2, Network Implantation lv2 (grey)

Implanted Person (Note): A very niche type of modified human, possessing hidden transplantation talent, very suitable for professions like Prosthetic Doctor, Prosthetic Developer, Intelligent Manipulator.

All four attributes over two digits, usually this only happens after level 5 or 6 of an official profession, plus four skills, one hidden profession, one hidden bloodline.

Seems like being Tentacle Girl isn’t so bad after all.

Binding, whips, implanting loyal dog memory...

Soon, Sister Ji showed a Fu Jiang-style perverted smile.

...

”Go on, Alita, destroy him!”

”Ah, Xiao Yu little angel, my light of life, fire of desire, my sin, my soul...”

”Master Xiao, attack his lower part, yes, right between his legs.”

Xiao Yu’s gaze was calm, unmoved by external things, but Red Flower Demon couldn’t help it, turned and shouted angrily: ”Damn, whose side are you on, are you still doing this mission!?”

”When the heart is calm, the wind does not move; when the heart moves, the machine moves too.”

Xiao Yu suddenly appeared beside Red Flower Demon, leaping gently, the long leg marked with ’Heaven and Earth are Useless’ curved and fluctuating, suddenly slammed into Red Flower Demon’s abdomen, particularly the knee, slammed into the abdomen, ’shock damage’, ’blunt damage’, ’energy wave impact’, three layers of damage hit immediately.

Red Flower Demon’s eyes rolled back, falling to her knees on the spot.

Xiao Yu gracefully landed, shaking her little butt.

”Oh oh oh, the little angel did beautifully!”

”Ah, I also want to be stepped on by the angel.”

”It’s my turn! My turn!”

”Idiot, only the modified can participate, you’re in the wrong queue!”

The arrival of players, especially after the dead ones resurrected, the desolate, painful, and sorrowful Red Rain Street, suddenly felt like a pack of Huskies ran in.

A hundred players, that’s a hundred huskies, or rather, geese.

Xiao Yu smiled as she watched this scene. She really liked these strange people. Although their behavior was peculiar, they had a strong sense of curiosity and justice. After all, not everyone was willing to care for the ’cyber patients’.

Especially after Xiao Yu, following Gao Gong’s instructions, turned the mission reward into her own signed photograph, that sense of ’justice’ grew even stronger.

It’s just that the poses she struck for the photos were a bit odd. Whenever she thought about those poses and expressions, Xiao Yu felt a little embarrassed.

But this was all a necessary sacrifice for justice!

Thinking about the justice project that the boss talked about, Xiao Yu felt her blood boiling, clearing out all the gangs in the Outer City and turning the whole area into a peaceful district, what a wonderful thing!

With this in mind, Xiao Yu’s teachings became even stricter.

For a while, the players were in both pain and joy.

The joyful part was that after being beaten up by Little Angel, their skill experience increased really fast.

The painful part was whether they could still continue the main mission after this?

Red Flower Demon walked out dejectedly, just in time to see Baozi returning from a side mission.

Baozi was surprised, ”What kind of expression is that? Getting knocked out by Little Angel is normal, did you think you could win?”

Red Flower Demon sighed, extended a finger, and with a thought, eight spring blades popped out between the fingers.

Wolf Claw Blade (Whiteboard): Spring blades implanted in the palm, +1 Power, -1 Agility, +20 Attack Power

”But the problem is, I didn’t even have the chance to use my modified weapon before getting knocked out. I queued for a whole hour.”

Baozi sighed as well and patted the other’s shoulder.

”I told you to complete side missions to gain experience first, but you insisted on competing with those dead people. Was it worth it?”

Under the merciless slaughter of the Mechanical Blade Master, only thirty or forty out of a hundred players managed to reach Red Rain Street, while the rest met gruesome ends in various ways.

Red Flower Demon looked at him gloomily, ”You’ve forgotten, I’m also one of the dead, and it was you who asked me to scout that bush with my face!”

”Uh—hahaha, the weather’s nice today. Come, let me walk you around Red Rain Street.”

There were many players like Red Flower Demon. After resurrection, Red Flower Demon’s professional level and skill level were reduced by 20%, but his identity remained unchanged, still a Bionic Man.

Coming out from various strange respawn points (for instance, Red Flower Demon woke up in a human body parts junkyard), the players hurried to Red Rain Street, collected the previous stage mission rewards, and after a Whiteboard level prosthetic modification, they quickly proceeded to receive Little Angel Xiao Yu’s beatings of love.

What Xiao Yu didn’t know was that she was quite the hot topic among the players on Mechanical Split Star.

Firstly, she was one of the few high-level NPCs willing to interact with or even guide players.

Secondly, a cute girl, mechanical girl, and swordsman; these three points hit a lot of players’ kinks.

Thirdly, Xiao Yu’s ’bold and ambitious statements’ were secretly recorded and uploaded to the forums. From the players’ perspective, it was just shy of her pointing her finger at them, saying she had loads of quests and impressive background, prompting them to come dig deeper.

Cyber Realm had been operating for almost a month, and in the eyes of most players, apart from the sky-high difficulty of the missions, everything else was top-notch, or rather, from a virtual realm perspective, infinitely close to perfection.

However, for a small group of storyline-oriented players, putting themselves in the Cyber Realm NPCs’ shoes would immediately send chills down their spine, plunging them into deep despair.

Thus, when this ’bold and ambitious declaration’, or rather mission proclamation emerged, these storyline or imagination-driven players immediately realized it could very well be a herald of the main storyline.

This might not be just a planetary main storyline, but the main storyline of the entire game.

After all, what kind of good game doesn’t involve world salvation?

Is there anything more thrilling than saving the world?

Yes

Saving the universe!!

...

Nowadays, in Red Rain Street, there are two places with long queues.

One is the dojo of Justice’s Little Angel Xiao Yu.

The other is this temporary surgery room before Justice’s Security Manager.

The reward for the second ring mission, a free prosthetic modification, is to be claimed here.

”It’s finally my turn.”

Justice’s Security Manager let out a long breath and pushed the door open.

’Welcome to our facility,’ a soothing voice suddenly sounded.

The Security Manager looked around. The surgery room wasn’t big, nor was it crowded. It contained a surgery table, a holographic TV, and a row of surgical racks with a variety of surgical tools, many of which were still stained with blood.

The holographic TV’s voice continuously played—

’The Evil Gang has been wiped out. Welfare Gang’s Dragon Head Gao Jin claimed responsibility for the incident and publicly announced that Welfare Gang has annexed Evil Gang. The former Evil Gang’s territory is now under Welfare Gang’s control...’

’Thousands of people experiencing headaches and fevers—in the Outer City District of Nightless City, a widespread illness is spreading. Experts name this disease ’Dream Syndrome’, reportedly showing symptoms like insomnia, excessive dreaming, and intermittent memory loss...’

There’s a side door in the corner of the surgery room, leading to a compartment. However, the small door is tightly shut, so it’s impossible to see what’s inside.
