Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Gao Gong closed his eyes, and in an instant, countless neural bundles protruded from beneath his skin, intertwining and connecting to form several neural nodes, eventually assembling into a ’Brain-in-a-Vat’.

This was Gao Gong’s hidden brain zone, and Gao Yuanyuan was stored here.

Just like Ahong’s virtual machine, this was a hard disk unique to Gao Gong.

The next moment, the surrounding environment vanished, replaced by a beautiful landscape.

In his previous life, Gao Gong had traveled across the universe and seen various landscapes, so he replicated them according to the memories in his mind.

The dreamlike Pandora’s Flower, the radioactive nebula like an Immortal Realm, and the exotic plants growing on various high-gravity planets.

Gao Gong felt as though he had arrived in a fantasy world.

In the forest, Gao Yuanyuan was leaning against a unicorn, engrossed in a book. Upon seeing Gao Gong approach, she quickly put down the book and said softly, ”Brother, you’re here.”

”Hmm, are you getting used to this place?”

”At first, it felt like a dream, but then I realized I could actually do something, and that feeling became even more wondrous.”

With a gentle swipe of her fingers, a rainbow bridge appeared in the distance, sparkling under the sunlight.

Editing neural signals at will, huh.

Gao Gong opened Gao Yuanyuan’s attributes panel and, sure enough, her attributes had drastically changed.

Name: Gao Yuanyuan

Race: Electronic Life

Level: ??

Personal Attributes: ???

Professional Knowledge: Virtual Information Security lv9, Cyber Programming Language lv9, Neural Communication Technology lv9…

Skills: Advanced Neural Shuttling, Virtual Personality Editing, Darkened Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Electronic Control, ??, ??, ??

Gao Gong’s current level was 19, and only levels over 30 displayed question marks, meaning Gao Yuanyuan was at least level 49.

Most importantly, Electronic Life, as a type of Virtual Life, possessed the ability to invade electronic brains at will. Even the most advanced Electronic Defense Wall was ineffective against her. The reason was simple: the Electronic Defense Wall was also comprised of electrical signals, and as long as it was an electrical signal, it was ineffective against Gao Yuanyuan’s attacks.

Just like how the assassins wouldn’t die as long as they were in Cyber Space.

The relationship between the world of electrical signals and Gao Yuanyuan was like the ocean and fish.

Fish could never drown in the ocean.

”Brother, what are you thinking about?”

Gao Gong snapped back to reality and looked at his counterpart, noticing Gao Yuanyuan looking at him with concern. Her eyes were no longer empty like Zhenzi’s but bright and twinkling like stars in the sky.

’Absorbed part of the source code of the ’Fantasy Dance’, huh.’

Gao Gong smiled and said, ”You know about the Welfare Institute now. What are your plans next?”

Gao Yuanyuan’s eyes dimmed: ”I never imagined that the memories of all these years were artificially fabricated. The children of the Welfare Institute were not my students but my deceased companions.”

Seeing her eyes showing signs of hollowness again, Gao Gong thought for a moment and said: ”Actually, they might not be fake, just like Artificial Intelligence is still intelligence, and Memory Data is still memory. Thought patterns plus Memory Data are the way most intelligent lives exist.”

This might sound convoluted to others, but Gao Yuanyuan understood it.

”Brother, do you mean they can be resurrected?”

”If by resurrection, you mean restoring them to their state from ten years ago, that might not be possible. But if you mean allowing them to continue living in another form, then I can certainly say it’s possible.”

”Their neuron circuits and brain data have been stored in chips by me. If you can integrate the two, they can survive in another form, such as AI, Bionic Man, or Clone. As for the specific form and how much wisdom remains, that depends on your skill.”

”Brother, I’m willing to learn!”

”Very well,” Gao Gong smiled and, with a thought, copied a large amount of Memory Data into the hidden brain disc, transforming them into books that quickly piled into a small mountain.

”In here, part is the content of that experimental project, and part is my memory. If you can fully integrate them, there would be no problem resurrecting those ’deceased’ kids!”

Gao Yuanyuan eagerly dived into the sea of books.

Seeing Gao Yuanyuan immediately enter the learning mode, Gao Gong nodded in satisfaction.

In this life, by taking the carbon-based and mechanical route, it was destined that he couldn’t follow the old path.

Even after transitioning to a Cyber Hacker, it was the same. Hacker was a secondary profession, its cap was level 20, not level 30, Gao Gong couldn’t self-program and transform into a main AI, nor could he create another Virtual Realm.

So, he needed a successor.

And Gao Yuanyuan, who was transformed into Virtual Life, was the perfect heir.

She was very obedient, very talented, and trusted him immensely.

More importantly, she could always maintain a ’pure heart’, transforming her negative emotions into Sensory Data, absorbed by another personality.

This could significantly alleviate the pressure on the ’Virtual Personality’.

Virtual Life is hard to kill, but if ’death’ is defined as a drastic personality change, then the speed at which Virtual Life ’dies’ might exceed your expectations.

In his previous life, Gao Gong suppressed his ’backup personality rebellion’ no less than a thousand times, which greatly delayed his speed in climbing the Technology Tree.

Keeping a ’pure heart’ was equivalent to choosing ’easy mode’, and in Gao Gong’s veteran view, that was the best thing.
