Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

The players have been online for more than half a month now, and ”Cyber Realm” is a standard hell startup game, where the players who want to go solo or can actually do so are very few.

Every player has their own fixed team.

And Sister Ji’s task group only recruits elites.

The elites, or rather, the high-end players, have a very strong appeal.

Soon, a group of a hundred people was built up.

Looking at the chirping, chatting, water flooding, flame wars, key politics, and daily NSFW antics of the small players, I Love Eating Buns rubbed his temples, feeling a little headache.

First, he sent a free mute package to the excellent talents in flame wars, key politics, and NSFW categories.

Then he arranged several old acquaintances to manage the group.

Baozi hurried out the door; he needed to have a meeting with these twenty squad leaders in the game.

Although the boss didn’t say it outright, Baozi could see that he was planning to take action against the Welfare Gang.

The Welfare Gang, they’re a big gang with ten districts. There are dozens of level 10 sect leaders and over a dozen level 20 Double Flower Red Staff members, not to mention hundreds of gang members. He needed to figure out their specific distribution.

It’s time to play the espionage game.

Soon, three punk-dressed nitwits appeared, Red Flower Demon, Plane, and I am a Big Muscle Dominator, all with 3D tattoos, rivet leather jackets, electronic Mohawks, and a red headband tied on Plane’s head, with a crooked fighter jet drawn on it.

Baozi looked at the three’s attire and showed the ’old man, subway, phone’ expression, but thinking of the task, he took a deep breath and approached.

”What, play infiltration, do espionage, great,” Plane’s eyes lit up.

”A large task chain, is this task about busting yellow and black?” Red Flower Demon started pondering.

Compared to the other two nitwits, the seemingly brainless muscular Big Muscle Dominator thought a bit further.

”If the task fails, fine. But if it succeeds, won’t the Welfare Gang fall apart? If the Welfare Gang is gone, we won’t have a camp anymore. Our professional level and skill level won’t drop, right?”

Not every player is the troublemaking type; many orthodox players still like to level up and fight monsters step by step.

They’re actually unwilling to blow up their own camp.

Baozi also understood their thoughts. In fact, he was that type of player too, so on his way, he had already thought of a spiel.

”Muscle Dominator, the task has a reward, ’Hunter Camp’s clue,’ did you see it?”

”Hunter Camp?” I am a Big Muscle Dominator’s mind immediately conjured a picture of himself wearing animal skins and holding a spear.

That’s too low-class; I’m better off mixing with a gang!

Baozi saw through his thoughts and rolled his eyes, ”I just ask if you want to pilot a mecha?”

”Uh, what do you mean?”

Baozi didn’t say anything, but rather sent a private message with a link. I am a Big Muscle Dominator opened it to find it was a post by Gao Da, who was second only to Sister Ji in forum spamming.

This guy shone his bald head, playing mecha every day, or playing with lolis, making others envious and drooling.

Why is it that we’re in the hell startup, but you’re the one with the jackpot start?

But this guy is cunning too. No matter how he takes photos, he won’t tell you where he’s having fun.

”Did you see it?”

”The latest Cheetah V model is pretty cool, with an enhanced power system; is this an assault-type mecha?”

The reason players could tolerate Gao Da’s Versailles remarks was that every time after, this bald head would seriously analyze the mecha’s performance. Simply put, it’s actually a tech post.

Players could argue for hundreds of rounds about whether the War Bear type, Cheetah type, or Berserker type mecha is stronger.

”Look below.”

Below was a photo from Gao Da.

’Photo with my Hunter mentor.’

Beside the bald head was a cold and stern model, wrapped in green full armor, with at least eight blade slots on his body, and biological blades faintly visible in his skin.

Below was a series of comments.

’Whoa, Uncle Red Blade!’

’What Uncle Red Blade, it’s clearly the Three-blade Style!’

’This NPC is fine, I strongly demand the removal of the anti-creep system in the game, I’m really willing!’

’Did anyone notice this NPC’s profession? It looks quite badass!’

I am a Big Muscle Dominator looked up in shock, ”Are you saying that the Hunter Camp in this task chain is actually Gao Da’s mecha camp!?”

Baozi was confident, ”That’s right, based on my analysis, this task chain ultimately leads players who complete the chain to join a high-level hidden camp. I even suspect our boss is an important figure in that camp.”

I am a Big Muscle Dominator was convinced. He wasn’t persuaded by Baozi’s eloquence, but by the potential to pilot a mecha.

Can’t do NSFW? Fine, but I’ve gotta pilot a mecha!

The three undercover operatives quickly began their actions. They needed to determine the distribution of the Welfare Gang members within three days, especially the location of the Double Flower Red Staff. Such NPCs are clearly going to be taken down by a righteous mob.

...

Just as players were plotting their antics, Gao Gong leisurely appeared on the neighboring Red Leaf Street, now the Welfare Gang’s base camp, frequently seeing the gang’s exclusive lackeys wandering the streets.

Currently, the Welfare Gang is no longer a mere Fucheng Island indigenous gang; numerous external members have been absorbed, and their numbers have now exceeded four digits.

Gao Gong saw many familiar transformations, heavy cannon transformations, electronic mechanical failures, ballistic adjustment plugins, titanium gold plating.

Not particularly polished, but barely functional.

Sigh, the hunter has eventually been pecked by the geese. Has someone reverse-engineered my technology blueprints?

In front of a very luxurious restaurant, two henchmen blocked Gao Gong’s path.

Gao Gong smiled, and a data fluctuation flashed in his eyes. The next moment, the two henchmen voluntarily stepped aside.

Gao Gong strolled inside. There weren’t many people in the restaurant: Gao Jin, three Double Flower Red Staffs, and a girl dressed very in Japanese style. She wore a kimono embroidered with cherry blossom patterns, had long flowing hair, a pale complexion, a cold aura, and most importantly, a pair of mechanical fingers protruding from the long sleeves.

The reason they were referred to as fingers instead of hands was that below her wrists were not normal palms. Instead, there were five nearly half-meter-long mechanical fingers, each with a dozen or so joints, moving like flexible tentacles, very chilling.

Seeing Gao Gong approach, a trace of surprise and wariness flashed across Gao Jin’s eyes, while the female Prosthetic Doctor stared directly at Gao Gong, giving him the feeling of being watched by a dead person.

”Mr. Gao.”

”Miss Sakura.”

Seeing the intense aura between the two, Gao Jin laughed heartily, quickly trying to mediate.

”Master, you’re here. This is Miss Sakura, our new prosthetic consultant for the Welfare Gang, just like you, a professional.”

”Professional? If so professional, why hasn’t the Evil Gang been dealt with?”

Miss Sakura’s face turned cold and she said, ”That will depend on Mr. Gao’s skills.”

Gao Jin waved his hand, and soon, a corpse was brought over.

”This is a member of the Evil Gang we finally captured alive. We didn’t kill him, but strangely, his consciousness voluntarily dissipated. Miss Sakura checked him, and it seems his brain structure has been modified.”

Gao Gong examined the corpse, noticing numerous suture marks but no signs of implanted prosthetics. The skin was covered in strange tattoos—gears, pipes, idols, steam engines, all mismatched.

Gao Gong’s eyes flashed with mist, birthing a large amount of fog inside the corpse, reconstructing the pattern in front of its body, with the tattoos rapidly reassembling.

A golden, flaming triangle appeared before Gao Gong.

In the center of the triangle was a peculiar eye, filled with countless pupils, each pupil passing through the mist, staring at Gao Gong.

A chill ran down his spine.

Before most of the eyes could turn towards him, Gao Gong immediately shut down the Eye of Truth.

He knew what this was.

The Eye of Peeping, the collective entity of surveillance devices on this planet.

Also known as the High-tech Blood Wheel Eye.

Another Big Data Monster, equivalent to the Mother of Data.

But how did a low-level gang member get entangled with such a monster?

Noticing the odd expression on Gao Gong’s face, Gao Jin couldn’t help but ask, ”Master, did you find out anything?”

Gao Gong didn’t respond immediately, instead, he opened the attributes of the corpse.

Name: Evil Gang No. 13

AI Totem?

Gao Gong glanced at the skill description.

AI Totem: Creates an information processing mechanism through special data tattoos that can attract elementary AI to possess.

This thing is basically a high-tech version of Divine Strike.

Moreover, this method of manipulating artificial intelligence, Turing Sect!

Turing Sect, Eye of Peeping, Evil Gang.

Evil Gang, Utopia?

Gao Gong felt as if he could faintly see a web.

”Master, Master.”

Gao Gong snapped back to reality, glanced at the two, thought for a moment, and said, ”I have a rough idea of the principle of this street technology; it depends on what you want to do.”

Gao Jin’s spirits lifted, ”What do you mean, Master?”

Gao Gong briefly explained the principle of the ’AI Totem.’

”If you want me to reverse-engineer this technology or find a countermeasure to this street technology, it will take at least 2 to 3 months.”

Gao Jin frowned.

”If it’s merely to create a device that counters ’Divine Strike,’ that can be done quickly.”

”How long will that take?”

”Three days.”

Miss Sakura suddenly said, ”Mr. Gao, would you mind if I join to learn?”

Looking at the seemingly lifeless Miss Sakura, Gao Gong squinted his eyes, then suddenly smiled, ”Sure, no problem at all.”

”Hahaha, whatever materials you require, just let me know. I’m awaiting good news from both of you.”
