Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Baozi thought for a long time before he spoke, ”PP, no, PP Boss, please open the forum, there’s a small group at the bottom, take a look at the chat history first.”

PP Boss hesitated for a moment, opened the forum, scrolled to the bottom, and indeed saw a small group, then his eyes widened.

”We, we know each other!?”

”Do you remember the game content from yesterday?” Baozi asked.

PP Boss shook his head, ”As far as I remember, I was just doing some neural programming tasks at the company.”

”Alright, the only way now is for you to log off first.”

For these strangers, PP Boss was still very cautious and said directly, ”This game has a wolf prevention system, you guys know that?”

Baozi choked for a moment, couldn’t help but roll his eyes and said, ”Then please go log off at the company, we’ll be waiting here, okay?”

”How do you guys know I—”

PP Boss paused, if he really knew the other party, then it was perfectly normal for them to know his spawning point.

But this thought was really terrifying.

”You guys, wait here!”

PP Boss jogged into the company, and the two prosthetic body security guards at the entrance looked at the few people with hawk-like eyes.

”What’s going on now?” The roughest Big Muscle Dominator was still in a daze.

”This kind of memory loss won’t happen in reality, right?” The most jumpy Red Flower Demon was unusually frightened.

”We’ll find out in a while.”

While they were waiting, a group of protestors soon surrounded the entrance of the ’Beautiful Interconnection’ company.

”Oppose moral chips, oppose man-made shackles.”

”Oppose corporate expansionism, oppose human commodification.”

”Defend human ethics, defend the freedom of crime!”

Soon, a group of fully armed prosthetic body security guards appeared, wielding water guns to spray the protestors away.

In the friends list, PP Boss went offline, and in the small group on the forum, PP Boss logged in.

’Sorry, sorry, sorry, I don’t know what’s going on either, we were supposed to log in for tasks, but as soon as I logged in, I forgot everything!’ PP Boss

’Do you remember anything when you log off?’ Baozi quickly asked.

’Yes, yes, yes, as soon as I log off, I remember everything!’

Baozi finally breathed a sigh of relief, if logging off still meant forgetting everything, then this game would be too scary.

’So what do we do now?’ Plane

’@PP Boss, how’s your physical condition now, any headache, fever, nausea?’ I Love Eating Buns

’Brother Baozi, those are symptoms of pregnancy,’ PP Boss replied with a sweating bullets emoji.

’So you’re okay physically?’

’Yes, I’m fine.’

’Shall we continue with the tasks?’

’What if she forgets again as soon as she logs in?’ Hei Bing No. 2

’...’

As someone who, while not a high-end player, was at least a seasoned player, Baozi was uncharacteristically silent.

How should this be handled?

’Actually... I have a way,’ PP Boss

’I’m going to tell you guys a secret, a secret I haven’t told anyone else in my life, something I’m planning to take to the grave, just tell my logged-in self, and she’ll know you’re not lying.’

’What secret?’ Plane sent a lecherous emoji.

’Is it necessary to go this far?’ Baozi sent a sweating emoji.

’It’s okay, Brother Baozi.’

PP Boss sent a take-a-deep-breath emoji.

’Actually, the couple I’m into is not Ann Qixuan and Li Chengji, but Li Chengji and the male second lead Bai Zhenghe!’

’...’ Baozi

’...’ Hei Bing No. 2

’...’ I am a Big Muscle Dominator

’You all sent ellipses, so I won’t, what the heck is this!?’ Red Flower Demon sent a questioning-life emoji.

PP Boss replied with a shy emoji.

’In any case, as long as you say this, I will definitely believe you, alright, no more questions, I’m logging in!’

As expected, after logging in, PP Boss forgot about them again.

But once the chat history and CP pairing appeared, PP Boss indeed believed them, with a face full of unwavering belief.

”So I really know you guys, that’s great.”

Plane commented, ”It’s just that there’s no ellipsis in the game, otherwise I’d definitely give you one.”

On the way back to the city, the always straightforward Big Muscle Dominator suddenly spoke, ”Continuing the task is fine, but what about the memory, are we just going to keep forgetting?”

Hei Bing No. 2 thought for a moment and said, ”Check your game panel, is there any negative state?”

PP Boss opened the task panel and made a small noise, ”There really is, there’s a negative state of memory data loss.”

”Then that’s easy to handle.”

”Brother Hei Bing, do you have a way?” PP Boss asked excitedly.

”Yes,” Hei Bing No. 2, wearing sunglasses, patted his waist and said coldly, ”Give you one shot to change your account, this negative state will just disappear.”

”...”

After a moment of silence, PP Boss barely squeezed out a smile, ”Actually, I think the memories with Brother Hei Bing aren’t that important.”

”Good roast, killing without spilling blood!” Plane laughed heartily.

Just then, Sister Ji spoke up.

’Where is everyone, what a mess of CP shipping, I’ve sent you the address, hurry and get in place!’

...

An hour later

Outer City District, Outer Ring Street

This was a necessary route for smugglers entering Nightless City.

Dressed as ordinary people, Baozi and Big Muscle Dominator were wandering along the road.

They quickly discovered a corpse.

The corpse was soaked by the puddle on the ground, swollen face, but the two had long been accustomed to such R-rated scenes.

Big Muscle Dominator made a small noise, ”Why doesn’t this corpse have any signs of modification?”

Baozi glanced at it and said, ”It’s the Low-tech Race.”

”What’s the Low-tech Race?”

”The Low-tech Race is a group of people who don’t believe in any scientific modification technology and advocate a return to primitive life. They’re not uncommon on the outskirts of the city, often organized in tribes.”

”Holy crap, they don’t believe in technology, how have they survived, with slash-and-burn farming?”

”Why do you care so much?”

Baozi found a camera on the street, which was likely an ancient remnant, only due to years of disrepair, it was uncertain whether it could be used.

Baozi had been running a store for some time, though he hadn’t yet mastered prosthetic body repair technology, he had unlocked ’basic repair’ skills.

He climbed the electric pole, and in no time dismantled it, replacing the battery.

’How is it, can it be used?’ he asked in the small group.

’Yeah, no problem.’ PP Boss replied.

”Damn, it’s amazing, how is a human brain able to invade a camera?”

Meanwhile, in another street’s gas station, Hei Bing No. 2 was smoking a cigarette, sitting at a hot dog stand, watching the surroundings with caution, with PP Boss beside him.

At this time, PP Boss’s head was spinning with streams of code on the network implantation chamber.

Neural signals were converted into sensory data, which was then amplified by the implantation chamber to invade other electronic products.

However, compared to the real-time invasion skills of a Cyber Hacker, she appeared much slower, taking ten minutes on average for PP Boss to invade the lowest level electronic device, i.e., a camera.

Her limit was five.
