Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

After the surgery, the PP Boss left with a thousand thanks, smiling foolishly with a slightly flushed face as he walked away.

”This boss is not only handsome but also considerate, didn’t even charge me. Could it be that he fancies me? Ahem, I shouldn’t think wildly, he’s just an NPC…”

Baozi noticed the two seemed to have something to say and gave a dry cough: ”Well, boss, you both seem busy, I’ll go mind the store up front.”

”Don’t rush, place this blade in the glass cabinet.”

Gao Gong beckoned with his hand, and from the corner, a long package suddenly flew over. Gao Gong caught it and unveiled the cloth wrapping to reveal a very sinister Samurai Sword, with three metal snakes on the hilt that were hissing.

As the blade was revealed, a chill ran down the spines of the two players, making them feel as if they were standing in a pit of snakes surrounded by dangerous serpents.

Baozi took the sword with trembling hands. After a glance at its attributes, his eyes turned red.

”Whoa, an excellent grade top-tier weapon, and it’s an intelligent blade! Boss, how much does this thing sell for?!”

”Just set a price that no one can afford.”

”But what if someone steals this treasure when it’s outside?” Baozi asked nervously, as brawls often broke out on Hanging Street, leaving it here feels quite unsafe.

”The store has an alarm system, and the glass case is bulletproof, no worries.”

”No, I’m worried I won’t be able to resist taking it myself.”

Gao Gong cast a sidelong glance at him and sneered, you think I’m not prepared? Look at what’s above your head, it’s a big Prey Mark.

”Ahem, boss, I’m off.”

Baozi hurriedly slipped away after letting that slip.

Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella’s gaze was glued to that blade.

As a tool enthusiast, Brother Umbrella loved all weapons, especially blades!

”That’s a quest reward,” Gao Gong said nonchalantly: ”As long as you complete the final task, I can give it to you.”

Brother Umbrella took a deep breath, almost having the word ’grind’ written on his face.

”What do I have to do next?”

”Go to this address,” Gao Gong handed over a note; it was the contact point of the Assassination Alliance in Nightless City, known to every assassin, including those who betrayed the organization, like Miyamoto Sanzang.

”You’ve got a month to become an Intermediate Assassin. By then, I’ll contact you again with your next phase of tasks.”

Gao Gong thought for a moment and concocted a ’Difficult’ level task to throw over.

As for the reward, let’s give him an assassin’s transformation big package.

”If you can’t complete the task within a month, then don’t bother coming to see me.”

Gao Gong bore a businesslike serious face.

Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella’s expression tightened, immediately understanding that this task was quite challenging.

”I understand!”

After the other left, Gao Gong handed the shop over to Baozi, casually tossing him a task to watch the store.

Watching Baozi’s face beam with joy for receiving the temporary task, Gao Gong couldn’t help but click his tongue.

Early-stage newbie players are easier to manage, unlike the later stages where everyone feels like they’re out for revenge against society.

Gao Gong walked for fifteen minutes to the welfare institute, but this time, he didn’t stand far off from the perimeter; instead, he walked right to the door.

”Hello, may I ask if Gao Yuanyuan has finished work? I’m here to pick her up.”

The security guard gave Gao Gong a dazed look, those sallow eyes obviously belonging to someone who stayed up too late for many years.

”Who are you looking for?”

”Gao Yuanyuan.”

”Gao what?”

”Gao Yuanyuan.”

”Yuanyuan what?”

Gao Gong showed a brilliant smile, and in the next moment, a virtual invasion was launched, directly drilling into the other’s brain.

It was terribly stuck!

If a normal person’s brain were the Windows 7 system, then this security guard’s brain was Windows 97, causing awful lag in today’s context.

Gao Gong quickly understood why the other was so laggy; these guards’ bodily hormones were stimulated with drugs, meaning that while on shift, they’d be a hundred times more excited, but once off duty, they’d experience various withdrawal reactions, akin to an addict deprived of drugs.

Such low-level workers obviously came from big companies.

How could such a person be guarding the gate of a normal welfare institute?

As Gao Gong walked past, any security guard who met his gaze became vacant-eyed, like a puppet with strings.

This is where the cyber hacker’s greatest bug lies: no matter how advanced the prosthetic body or powerful the modifications, if they can’t prevent hacking, those weapons and people will become things for the hacker to control.

This is also why every advanced Transformer has an electronic defense wall.

As Gao Gong walked through, the entire welfare institute was silent; though it was as big as an elementary school, during what should be the noisiest time, there wasn’t a sound.

Gao Gong walked to a building resembling a school building.

A middle-aged woman blocked Gao Gong’s path.

”You must be Yuanyuan’s brother, right?”

The Dean smiled, her smile was strange—the facial muscles moved very healthy, but the expression looked like the cheapest implanted skin on the market, very creepy, like an unrealistic robot expressing emotion, full of the uncanny valley effect.

”Hello, Dean.”

Gao Gong smiled too; inside his clothes, the Reproductive Soldier Body quickly covered most of his body, while the reactor in his chest started operating.

Energy jets extended, creating slits.

”Yuanyuan is currently teaching the children, why not come in and wait?”

Gao Gong glanced at the person behind him, it was clearly dusk, yet it seemed like a veil of night shrouded behind them, making it hard to see clearly.

Data Brain, Virtual Invasion, Eye of Truth.

Three peering skills were activated simultaneously, and the teaching building before him vanished, replaced by a terrifying torrent of data, torrents linked together forming a massive maze.

Data Maze!?

The Data Maze, a dangerous existence located in both the Deep Net Layer and the Bottom Net Layer.

If data nodes represent the order of Cyber Space, then the maze symbolizes chaos.

No matter how powerful the AI, or how skilled the hacker, once inside the maze, no one dares to claim they’ll surely survive.

’Damn, it was the right decision not to come in earlier, which bastard created such a thing in the Welfare Institute, even major corporation firewalls aren’t up to this level.’

Gao Gong squeezed out a slight smile, ”It’s okay, I’ll just wait here then.”

”No need to be polite, please come in, come in.”

The dean wanted to pull the other person, but after two steps, her figure suddenly stiffened as if feeling the cold stare of a prehistoric beast, knowing that any movement would lead to instant annihilation.

’This person is so strong!’

The dean didn’t expect that Gao Yuanyuan’s cheap brother would turn out to be such a dangerous Transformer.

The two were locked in this stalemate.

This stalemate lasted until Gao Yuanyuan happily walked down from upstairs, waving upward as she descended.

”I’m leaving now, Little Hua remember to eat your meal, Dahu don’t bully Little Hua, don’t take her meat...”

Gao Yuanyuan’s eyes brightened when she saw Gao Gong outside the stairs, and with a cheerful smile, she bounded over in two jumps.

”Why did you come to pick me up today?”

”It’s not just on the way, I came specifically to pick you up.”

Gao Yuanyuan rolled her eyes, her face flushed slightly as she playfully punched him, then said to the dean, ”Dean, this is my brother, he’s called Gao Gong.”

”Mm, we just had a little chat,” the dean showed a stiff smile.

”Then we’ll be on our way.”

”Be safe on the road.”

Gao Gong smiled at her while throwing a Hunter’s Mark at her.

However, after walking just a few steps, Gao Gong’s expression darkened, and when he turned around, the female dean was nowhere to be seen, and his Hunter’s Mark also lost its connection.

’Beep beep beep——’

...

The night was deep, and watching the girl sleeping peacefully, Gao Gong quietly closed the door.

After thinking for a moment, Gao Gong pressed his hand against the door.

The next moment, countless flesh and blood gushed from his palm, covering the door and the walls, enveloping the entire house.

This way, if his cheap sister made any moves, he would know immediately.

He went downstairs, entered his shop, took out a communicator, and dialed a number.

Soon, the projection of a youth with kidney deficiency appeared.

”Who’s calling this late, don’t you want people to sleep?” Ahong complained.

Gao Gong scrutinized him from top to bottom, especially that pair of black circles under his eyes.

”You’ve been overworked lately?”

Ahong’s spirit lifted, he chuckled, ”The fan club’s sensory simulation machine is nothing, nowhere near as good as the Human Sensing Module I developed myself, not to brag, but ah, ah, ah——okay, okay, I’ll stop talking, geez.”

Ahong muttered as he rubbed his butt, ”Shouldn’t have installed that electric shock module, thought it was a bedroom divine artifact, who knew it’d be a domestic violence divine artifact.”

”So what do you want from me?”

”I’d like to order a batch of hacker plugins from you, I need them urgently.”

Ahong’s face changed, full of suspicion.

”You’re not a Cyber Hacker, what do you need those for?”

Gao Gong didn’t waste words, he launched a Virtual Invasion directly, and the next moment, Ahong’s image turned into a mass of green dots, although this intrusion was quickly counteracted by a similar invasion, when Ahong returned to human form, his face couldn’t hide the astonishment.

”You’ve really become a colleague? Where’s your Network Implantation Chamber?”

Gao Gong frowned, ”Cut the crap, hacker plugins!”

”What’s in it for me?”

”Don’t you want to know what happened that day in the Cyber Network?”

”And what else?”

”I won’t report you to Aidolu’s management company.”

”Deal!” Ahong quickly agreed.

After hanging up, Gao Gong thought for a moment and turned on the cyber networking device, this welfare institute is really a bit eerie.

He needed to find another helper.
