Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Every cyber hacker has their own hacker alias, like he’s called Ahong, and Senior Master is called Paradise Bird.

These are not their real names.

Senior Brother also has his own nickname, a very delicate and feminine hacker alias—Xiuyue.

”Senior Brother, why are you here?”

Xiuyue smiled, pulled out two cigarettes, and tossed them over, ”Consider it my treat.”

”Senior Brother!!!”

”Alright, I’m here because of orders from above. Haven’t you heard, I work for the Mother City now.”

Xiuyue opened his collar, revealing a bronze skull badge surrounded by an iron fence.

”Machine Consciousness Department!”

Ahong’s expression suddenly grew complicated.

Cyber hackers are naturally inclined towards chaos and bear an innate resentment towards the Mother City. When Second Senior Brother insisted on going to the Mother City, Ahong thought he was planning something big.

Who would have thought he’s aiming to join the organization!

The Machine Consciousness Department, one of the core six departments of the Mother City, is responsible for AI rebellion incidents, dealing with all types of ”ai.”

Simply put, whenever artificial intelligence revolts, it’s their job to intervene.

This department is also one of the few capable of mobilizing the ’Black Wing Killers’ at the core.

To join this department, one must be branded with a ’Thought Steel Seal,’ making rebellion absolutely impossible.

”What’s with that look? Didn’t I tell you before that I planned to join the Mother City?”

”Senior Brother, it’s a blessing the old man is gone, otherwise he might have disrupted his program and spewed code.”

”Isn’t this a good thing,” Xiuyue laughed, ”Back when we used to get beat, we always wanted to implant a counter-education virus in him, opening a backdoor in his virtual personality.”

”But how did you end up here?”

Ahong asked suspiciously, ”Where exactly is this place? Deep Net Layer, Bottom Net Layer, surely it can’t be your Mother City’s core database?”

Xiuyue shook his head, ”You’re still as reckless as ever, barging into someone else’s Metaverse without a clue.”

”Metaverse!?”

The Metaverse, the inner world, is not unfamiliar territory for such cyber hackers.

In fact, creating a world with physical laws closely mirroring reality isn’t particularly difficult; his virtual machine is such a little world.

But the challenge lies in how to accommodate vast sensory data like the cyber network and create living entities.

If ordinary consciousnesses are simply uploaded like the ancient internet, they would eventually become cold strands of code, rapidly disintegrating without maintenance.

This is an exceptionally difficult technical challenge.

Hence, there’s only one Cyber Space.

But the Metaverse rivals the Cyber Space, where logged-in users can populate the virtual realm without needing to awaken hidden personalities, and live like normal people.

”No wonder this place feels so real.”

”Is it the Data Concept Body? Looks like we’ve come to the right place,” Ahong muttered.

Only legendary Big Data Monsters can support the transformation of such vast sensory data.

”Which Data Concept Body are you tracking? ’Deep Web Bridge,’ ’Sensory Queen,’ ’Data Sanctuary,’ ’Eye of Peeping,’ ’Hider’?”

Ahong mentioned some well-known Data Concept Bodies, even among Big Data Monsters, they’re a fierce bunch.

”Don’t ask what you shouldn’t,” Xiuyue’s expression gradually turned calm, calm enough to make Ahong feel a bit unfamiliar.

”Senior Brother, are you planning to confront a Big Data Monster on another monster’s turf?”

”Of course, I wouldn’t act without utmost certainty,” Xiuyue laughed, ”In some aspects, these monsters are omniscient and omnipotent.”

...

Gao Gong tilted his head to look at his counterpart; as Miss Cyberpedia, she was quite buggy in certain aspects.

For instance, dispersing one’s consciousness into sensory data and uploading it to the Cyber Network.

During this process, as long as she’s willing, she can easily search all his past memories.

Gao Gong didn’t believe she hadn’t done it.

So the question arose, could she see his ’previous life’ memories?

The answer seemed to be no.

If she truly could see his memories, she definitely wouldn’t be so calm now.

In this sense, although he reincarnated as an NPC, in a way, like players, he’s protected by a mysterious privacy shield.

Gao Gong was deep in thought.

Seeing this, Eliza smiled and stretched out her hand.

Gox suddenly jumped forward, covering Rich Lady Love Prototype’s cheek with his hand.

”Mine, all mine!”

Eliza looked at him discontentedly, ”What’s wrong with pinching it a couple of times? I’ll give it back!”

”No, absolutely not!”

Watching the mother-daughter duo arguing because of him, Gao Gong had an epiphany, being the little wolfdog for so long, he almost forgot his real job.

Clinging to the Rich Lady!

”Sister G, I want Data Enlightenment.”

The Unparalleled Shota looked pitifully at the crazy girl, his big eyes sparkling.

[Gox’s affection towards you +100]

[Gox’s affection towards you +100]

[Gox’s affection towards you +100]

...

Gox immediately betrayed, while rubbing the Shota’s face, viciously said to Eliza, ”Hey, old woman, would it kill you to help a little!”

Eliza rolled her eyes, ”Is this how you ask for help?”

”I helped you chop so many people, did I complain? Now why are you being so stingy? Keep this up and who will help you with anything!”

Eliza laughed angrily: ”So, turning you into such a form was all for nothing?”

’You guys, mm, no, woo oo, want, woo oo, to argue.’

Gao Gong had his face pressed, mumbling.

The crazy girl Gox truly was, even facing her godmother, swearing up a storm, directly cursing her ancestors up to eighteen generations.

”Fine, fine, I’ll help you, alright?”

Eliza sighed helplessly, looked jealously at the Unparalleled Shota being toyed with.

”I never do unprofitable business, you help me with a little favor, I’ll help you with a little favor too.”

”Some cockroaches have shown up on my turf, you take care of them for me, and I’ll give you some Data Enlightenment.”

[Task: Cyber Engine Assessment]

Difficulty: Normal+

Mission Brief: Mother of Data is moved by your looks, decides to lend you a hand, but you need to give her a reason to help

Mission Objective: Expel the Red Wing Assassins that came upon hearing, remove the Deep Net positioning of the Mechanical Mother City, and let Mother of Data enjoy sufficient leisure time

Mission Reward: One Data Enlightenment

”Hahaha, old woman, this time you finally showed some loyalty, show loyalty to others and they’ll return the favor!”

Gox pulled up Gao Gong, eyes excited and crazy: ”Let’s go, call Old Hei, let’s go cut them! This time, I must squash these cockroaches until not a trace of code is left!”

Gao Gong was half dragged and half pulled, rushing wildly down the streets.

Nearby pedestrians pointed and whispered upon seeing.

”It’s that crazy girl from the Gao Family again!”

”Be careful, this girl is not to be messed with.”

”Always waving knives and guns around, how can she ever get married!”

”Fuck you!”

Gox very friendly flipped a middle finger to the two gossiping old ladies.

’Memory Illusion, is it? Memory people pieced together from living memories and ancient data, looks like this generation of Eliza has been quite influenced by the Civilization Era.’

The big guy at the back spoke helplessly: ”Sister G, we don’t even know where those cockroaches are, how are we supposed to cut them?”

Gox’s little nose sniffed around, giggling weirdly: ”What do you know, I deliberately left a string of code in Virus City, hidden in the code is a Trojan virus I planted, if they dare come, I’ll find them.”

The big guy was startled: ”Sister G, you actually let those things in, if godmother finds out, she’ll skin you alive.”

”Relax, if we don’t bring them in, how can we take them out? Running every day, running every day, Sister G is already sick of it! This time on our turf, let’s see how these stinking cockroaches come back to life!”

The underlying structure of the Metaverse is different from Cyber Space.

Here, once a Black Wing Killer is taken down, it truly cannot revive.

”Ha, found them!”

Seeing an elderly couple walking toward them, chatting and laughing, Gox without hesitation pulled out a machine gun and riddled them full of holes.

Blood splattered on Gao Gong, the scent was pungently bloody.

”Did we get the wrong people?” The big guy hesitated.

Gox stomped hard on the corpse’s head, brain matter splattering everywhere.

”Come out, get out here, get out for me!”

The next moment, a mercury-like arm pierced out from the corpse, grabbing Gox’s ankle fiercely.

”Trash, finally came out!”

Gox kicked hard, smashing the two bodies into the wall, their surfaces quickly restored, transforming into two red-clad women with sunglasses.

”Actually dare to come!”

The big guy roared in rage, his figure rapidly swelling, furious black data spraying from his surface, quickly transforming into a three-meter-tall black data body, pouncing savagely, smashing in one red-clothed woman’s head with a punch.

”Black Code,” Gao Gong squinted his eyes, observing for a moment: ”This guy actually is a bug too.”

This bug, though not the most dangerous type, was remarkably effective against human hardware.

This bug was called ’Display Blackout.’

Every punch the big guy landed, the opponent’s body surface would blacken a spot, the Red Wing Killer’s usually infallible recuperative ability gradually losing effect under his fists.

The Red Wing Assassins, who would have thought, just invaded and were immediately pounded savagely by these two fiends.

”So this way, there’s nothing for me to do, huh.”

Gao Gong took a deep breath, savoring the taste of freedom, the taste of a Rich Lady.
