Not Being a Trainer This Time

During the entire afternoon, Naoki received five or six Trainers coming to challenge the Gym.

By four o’clock in the afternoon, all the previously accumulated Trainers had finished their battles.

Throughout the process, Naoki handed out three Gym Badges, while the rest decided to go back for some targeted special training before returning for another challenge.

Of course, there were also a few Trainers who thought the strength of Levincia Gym’s Leader was too strong for them to handle.

So they decided to continue traveling, challenge other Gyms first, and come back to battle the Levincia Gym Leader again at the end.

Lono said, the job of a Gym Leader is like this, busy at times, and completely free at other times.

Just like now, as those Trainers left, the entire Central Square emptied out, leaving Naoki nothing to do.

He glanced at the time, it was already 4:07 PM, just a few more minutes until he could clock out.

“There shouldn’t be any more challengers today,” Naoki was ready to go back to the Gym to rest for a while, and then take everyone back to the ranch at quitting time.

Looking at the few Pokémon around him, Naoki grinned at them: “Everyone, you’ve worked hard today!”

Pikachu was very happy: “Pika~!”

Jolteon, exhausted from the day, lay on the ground, looking completely drained: “Bui…”

Zapdos proudly raised its head, these Pokémon were too weak.

“Well, that’s it for today then.”

Naoki called for the Rotom Phone, ready to turn off the live stream.

But at that moment, he suddenly received a message from Anya saying that a new Trainer had just signed up to challenge the Gym.

Hmm? A Trainer at this hour?

Seems like no rest after all.

Naoki sighed, spoke to a few Pokémon, then stretched his muscles and returned to his position as Gym Leader.

Meanwhile, Naoki also received the detailed information of the Trainer.

[Name: Riot, Hometown: Unova Region, Number of Gym Badges collected: 0, Background: League Competition Champion from the Unova Region]

“0 Gym Badges…” Initially, Naoki thought it was another greenhorn Trainer, but when he saw the text on the resume behind that, he was stunned.

Champion? The Champion of the League Competition in the Unova Region?

Incredible, a competition Champion came to challenge his Gym; if Geeta were here, she would surely bribe them without hesitation.

If so, then let him do Geeta a favor!

Quickly, a figure slowly walked out from the entrance opposite the square.

It was a young man dressed in fine clothes, about fifteen or sixteen years old, with long golden hair, a proud demeanor, a noble appearance.

The young man named Riot squinted at the Gym Leader.

Naoki noticed his bizarre gaze, sensing something odd, paused briefly before speaking as usual:

“Welcome to Levincia Gym, I am the Gym Leader, Naoki, the battle rules for this Gym are…”

Naoki wanted to say 6v6, but thinking about the strength of his own Pokémon, he finally changed his mind: “3v3, each person is limited to using three Pokémon, until…”

But before he could finish his sentence, the boy across interrupted him.

“No need for 3v3, let’s have an all-out 6v6 instead, show me your full strength, let me see what the so-called number one Gym in Paldea is like!”

Seeing this situation, Naoki couldn’t help but have a string of question marks pop up above his head.

???

The newcomer isn’t friendly!

Meanwhile, the comment section exploded.

[Isn’t this guy the one who boasted about challenging Levincia Gym?]

[Just arrived, need explanations, what on earth is happening?]

[In simple terms, this person didn’t believe the Gym Leader’s strength was great. After being doubted by netizens, they couldn’t stand it and decided to personally challenge the Gym, proving to those who doubted and insulted them online.]

[I recognize him! He’s the Champion from the Unova Region years ago!]

Someone sharp-eyed in the comments recognized Riot’s identity.

Others quickly asked what was going on.

[His strength is strong; five years ago, in his first year of travel, he swept all opponents in the League Competition with his Pokémon, becoming that competition’s Champion.]

[Competition Champion? Doesn’t that mean he has Champion Level strength?]

[Probably not, I’m from the Unova League’s internal staff, there’s gossip that he challenged Champion Alder five years ago, but failed. However, now that five years have passed, his exact strength is unknown.]

Seeing this information shocked the netizens.

Doesn’t that mean this person’s strength reached Elite Level? After all, to challenge the Champion, you must first defeat the Elite Four.

[A person with Elite Level strength challenging the Gym Leader, isn’t this a bit bullying?]

[Hey, hey, hey, don’t underestimate Mr. Naoki! Mr. Naoki isn’t an ordinary Gym Leader; his real strength, I guarantee you’ll be scared if you hear it!]

The boy across maintained a proud expression.

“During the battle, you can freely switch Pokémon, there’s no need to send out those weak Pokémon around you like before to deal with me, that’s an insult to me!”

Listening to these words, Naoki remained silent.

So, this person is definitely here to stir up trouble, right?

The spectators around the square also noticed this strange scene.

The crowd fell silent, leaving only soft murmurs.
