Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 186: Chapter 189: Boss, You’re Way Too Generous

The next day, Lu Li got up early.

He glanced at Liu Kexin, who was sleeping like a child, and couldn’t help but smile knowingly.

Something happened last night that seemed to trap the relationship between them in a quagmire, but in reality, it was a big breakthrough.

Lu Li didn’t wake her up. After getting dressed quietly, he left the room.

He went downstairs.

Lu Li greeted Aunt Huang.

Then, he sat at the dining table, took out his phone, and called Peng Erping.

Ring, ring.

After six or seven rings, it connected.

Peng Erping’s voice came from the other side, ”Good morning, Mr. Lu.”

Lu Li said, ”Morning, Old Peng.”

Peng Erping asked, ”Is there something urgent that you called me so early?”

Lu Li responded with a hmm, ”Yes, there’s something.”

Peng Erping said, ”Go ahead.”

Lu Li said, ”I’m planning to develop an engine, so I definitely need to establish a company. Additionally, I may develop other products in the future, so I’m considering whether to buy an office location, like an office building or a factory. But I’m not familiar with these things, so I wanted to ask you.”

After chatting with Qin Liang, Lu Li had been pondering how to spend money and improve his social status.

There are many ways to improve social status.

For example, leveraging his extraordinary abilities to associate with wealthy and powerful people.

However, this method ultimately relies on others’ status and can’t truly improve one’s own social position.

After careful consideration, Lu Li quickly realized that he had to build his own influence.

To build his influence, first, he needs sufficient funds.

Therefore, after much thought, Lu Li decided to prioritize engine development.

Developing an engine definitely requires space.

Not knowing the ins and outs himself, he naturally needed to chat with Peng Erping.

After listening, Peng Erping immediately laughed and said, ”It’s simple. First, buy a factory, then set up a laboratory. As for office buildings, usually only large enterprises or multinational companies establish them as headquarters, and some service agencies or financial industries as well. If you only want to develop products, I personally think there’s no need to buy an office building for now. A suitable factory will do.”

Lu Li found this reasonable and immediately asked, ”Do you know of any suitable factories for sale in Su City?”

Peng Erping said, ”You’re asking the right person. Didn’t I promise to co-found a new company with you and the Aerospace side? I’ve been looking for factories for sale and recently saw a few good ones in Wujiang.”

Lu Li asked, ”What size are they, and what’s the price?”

Peng Erping recalled briefly and said, ”There are big ones and small ones, with various prices, but I particularly remember a factory in Southern New City. It’s about forty acres and 90% new, priced at eighty-six million.”

Wow, forty acres is quite sizable.

Although it’s priced at eighty-six million, Lu Li was very interested.

After some thought, he said, ”Could you contact the seller for me? Let’s find a convenient time this morning to meet. I’ll check the factory’s environment first, and if it’s indeed good, we can sit down to negotiate details.”

Peng Erping smiled wryly, ”I had intended to use this factory as an alternative for the new company, but since you’re interested, Mr. Lu, I’ll talk to the agent and message you later.”

Lu Li said, ”Alright.”

He hung up the phone.

He sat thinking for a little while.

Then dialed another number.

Before it rang once, the call connected.

Lu Li chuckled, ”Xiaozhao, you answered pretty fast.”

The long-awaited voice of Xiaozhao came from the other end, and he chuckled, ”I have to answer the boss’s call immediately!”

Lu Li blinked and asked, ”Are you still working at Vox?”

Xiaozhao said helplessly, ”Yes, if I don’t work at Vox, I have nowhere else to go. In this economic environment, finding a good job is too difficult.”

Lu Li lightly tapped his fingers on the dining table, making a soft ”tap tap” sound.

He asked, ”Interested in working for me?”

Normally, someone would ask about compensation.

But Xiaozhao didn’t ask at all and said with surprise, ”Sure, sure.”

Lu Li laughed, ”You agreed without even asking how much I’d pay?”

Xiaozhao replied candidly, ”Boss, to be honest, even if you don’t pay a penny, as long as I can hold onto your coattails, I’d be there in no time.”

Lu Li said, ”Okay, send me your address, and I’ll pick you up later.”

Xiaozhao hurriedly said, ”I’ll send the address right away.”

After hanging up the phone again.

Lu Li didn’t wait for the message but immediately dialed another number.

Soon, the call connected,

Lu Li immediately asked, ”Brother Cheng, I have a job, would you like to help out?”

Brother Cheng sounded a bit hesitant, ”I’m doing well at Vox, leaving just like that...”

Lu Li shook his head, ”Well, then keep working at Vox. I have to make another call, and we can chat some other time.”

He intended to find Xiaozhao and Brother Cheng because he wanted a few trusted people to watch over the new company he was about to establish.

For this kind of supervisory work, it’s not necessary to find highly skilled people, but they must be trustworthy.

In Lu Li’s mind, he trusted Xiaozhao, Brother Cheng, and Xiaoqing among his old colleagues.

Just that Xiaoqing is a woman.

And there were some small sparks between them before.

He feared hiring her would cause personal matters to interfere with work.

That’s why he chose Xiaozhao and Brother Cheng.

Hmm, because we need a balance of power, Lu Li decided to recruit two people, instead of choosing just Xiaozhao or Brother Cheng alone.

Otherwise, if one person held too much power, it’s possible they could develop ambitions that might harm the company’s interests.

Xiaozhao didn’t ask anything and agreed right away.

As for the attitude Brother Cheng showed, it was clear he didn’t want to help.

Lu Li had a good idea why.

When he left Vox, he recommended Brother Cheng to Liu Kexin for the position of deputy head of the e-commerce sales department.

He probably got promoted, and didn’t want to give up the deputy head position, so he was unwilling to start over again.

Actually, if Brother Cheng followed him, the salary and benefits he could earn would definitely be better than those at Vox.

But everyone has their own ambitions, and since he wasn’t willing to work under him, Lu Li couldn’t force him.

He chatted with Brother Cheng for a bit, then called the backup, Xiaoqing, to see if she was willing to work under him.

As it turned out, Xiaoqing, like Xiaozhao, didn’t ask about salary and benefits, and immediately said she was willing to come.

This made Lu Li feel grateful, recognizing the drive young people have.

He had just finished the call.

There was the sound of footsteps coming from the staircase.

Lu Li looked up.

He saw Liu Kexin coming down in business attire with high heels.

He greeted her proactively, ”Morning.”

”Morning.” Liu Kexin replied, a little confused, ”I thought I heard you mentioning Vox just now, is there something going on with the company?”

When it came to this matter, Lu Li felt awkward.

Speaking of which, what he just did was trying to poach people from under Liu Kexin.

He instinctively felt a bit guilty, timidly saying, ”It’s somewhat related to Vox, I poached a few people from over there, you... won’t be mad at me, right?”

Liu Kexin: ”...”

She looked speechless, ”Can’t you recruit people from the job market?”

...

In the morning.

Lu Li drove the Cullinan to pick up Xiaozhao and Xiaoqing.

”Boss, where are we going?”

”I’m planning to set up a company, building a factory from scratch takes too long, so I want to buy an existing one, and there’s a factory up for sale, we’re going to check it out.”

”Wow, you’re ready to open your own factory?”

”Boss, it’s only been a bit over a month, and you’re getting more amazing!”

Xiaozhao and Xiaoqing immediately looked at him with admiration.

Lu Li chatted with them casually.

Heading towards Longda Machinery.

Then, they picked up Peng Erping.

Following his directions, the four of them headed towards Wujiang.

Around 9 a.m., they arrived at the destination.

When Lu Li and the others got out of the car, several young men and women in professional attire were already waiting there.

Through Peng Erping’s introduction, Lu Li learned that this group were agents.

If an agreement is reached, they would arrange for the seller to sit down for negotiations.

Since the purchase involved over eighty million, the agency’s boss showed up in person.

The agency boss’s surname was Jiang, and after a brief introduction, he smiled and pointed inside, ”Mr. Lu, shall we go inside and take a look?”

Lu Li nodded, ”Sure, let’s go see the environment.”

A group of people headed towards the factory grounds.

From the outside, the factory looked quite new.

It also covered a large area.

Matching the roughly 40 acres that Peng Erping mentioned.

Inside.

The first to catch the eye was the administrative building by the entrance.

As Boss Jiang walked, he introduced, ”This factory occupies 40 acres, with a construction area of about 20,000 square meters. The administrative building is six stories high, and the dormitory accommodates one to two thousand people, all have certificates, the factory has a good appearance, a 1000KV power supply, and outside there’s a subway and bus station, making transportation convenient. Feel free to look around and verify my words.”

Lu Li casually asked, ”What kind of structure does the factory have?”

Boss Jiang replied, ”Frame structure, brick-concrete, and steel-concrete structures, with spacious floors about nine meters high, suitable for most industrial productions.”

Listening to the introductions, Lu Li toured the administrative building, factory space, dorms, cafeteria, and other areas, observing carefully for a while.

During this, to prevent any hidden issues with the factory, he deliberately used his superpowers to check it out.

After all the observation, he found the factory remarkably good.

Lu Li was very satisfied and immediately asked, ”The sale price is eighty-six million, right?”

Boss Jiang nodded, ”Yes, the seller is asking for eighty-six million.”

Lu Li decided, ”Alright, get in touch with the seller, and I’ll sit down with him to discuss the details.”

What?

An eighty-six million deal.

The boss settled it with just a few words?

Xiaozhao and Xiaoqing exchanged a glance, somewhat incredulous.

They really hadn’t expected that after not seeing Lu Li for over a month, he would have become so bold!
