Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 185: Chapter 168: I Need Love

The outside was dark and tranquil.

But inside, Lu Li was burning with heat.

He never imagined that Liu Kexin would take the initiative to invite him to bed, to share a pillow.

For a moment, Lu Li hesitantly asked, ”Are you asking me to come to bed?”

Liu Kexin seemed conflicted internally and didn’t answer immediately.

After a short pause, she softly hummed a ”hmm.”

It was clear that Liu Kexin was debating whether or not to sleep with Lu Li.

Or perhaps, her feminine reserve made her reluctant to become that intimate so quickly with Lu Li.

The reason Liu Kexin took the initiative to invite Lu Li to bed.

Was completely because she was afraid the air conditioner blowing directly would be too cold, and didn’t want Lu Li to catch a cold.

Lu Li could pretty much guess her thoughts.

Logically speaking, he should have been polite.

Or act like a gentleman, refuse righteously, and not take advantage of others in distress.

But he didn’t do that, instead, he jumped up from the floor and immediately was about to climb onto the bed.

Inside, Lu Li was burning with heat.

How could he think so much?

He couldn’t wait to sleep with her.

Liu Kexin suddenly stopped him and said, ”What are you doing?”

Lu Li paused and said speechlessly, ”Didn’t you tell me to come to bed? I’m going to sleep, what else would I do?”

Liu Kexin said grumpily, ”I told you to come to bed, but not to get into my covers, bring your own quilt and sleep, and you sleep at the other end.”

Lu Li haggled, ”My quilt on the ground is dusty, don’t want to dirty the bed, let’s just sleep with the same quilt.”

”No way.” Liu Kexin had a point, ”The quilt you put on the bottom might be a bit dirty from the floor, but the one on top hasn’t touched the floor, how could it be dirty? Don’t think of taking advantage of me.”

Indeed, a lone man and a lone woman.

The other party is a pure girl.

Requesting to share a quilt is excessive.

Lu Li was just trying it out.

Seeing her disagree.

He settled for second best, ”It’s okay not to share a quilt, but I have to sleep at the same end as you.”

Liu Kexin asked back, ”Why do you have to sleep at the same end?”

Lu Li blinked, ”I have smelly feet, sleeping at the other end I’ll stink you to death.”

Well, this was complete nonsense.

Smelly feet are generally caused by sweat from the tiny glands on the soles of the feet not being cleaned in time, containing water, salt, lactic acid, and urea, which stink when decomposed by bacteria or fungi in a closed environment.

His body has long since evolved.

He wouldn’t have this problem at all.

How could he have smelly feet?

The reason Lu Li said this was completely to sleep at the same end as Liu Kexin.

In his mind, saying his feet smelled.

Liu Kexin would definitely dislike it.

Letting him sleep at the same end.

However, to Lu Li’s speechlessness, Liu Kexin directly replied, ”Not afraid.”

Lu Li: ”...”

Helpless, he could only pretend to be pitiful, ”Fine, even if you’re not afraid, I sleep at the other end of the bed, with no difference from sleeping on the floor, I’m still facing the air conditioner, right?”

Liu Kexin was silent for a while, then took a deep breath and said, ”You can sleep at the same end as me, but you are not allowed to get into my covers.”

Take one step at a time, start by sleeping at the same end.

Lu Li agreed without hesitation, ”Don’t worry, I definitely won’t overstep.”

After saying this, he turned and grabbed his quilt, lying down right next to Liu Kexin.

Liu Kexin said quietly, ”Every time you say ’don’t worry,’ you end up being dishonest.”

Sweat!

You really know me too well.

Lu Li didn’t respond to her words.

He simply quietly felt the warmth and fragrance coming from beside.

Perhaps it had been a long time since he had shared a bed with a woman.

He glanced at the delicate face of Liu Kexin so close, and suddenly his heart raced inexplicably.

Suddenly, Liu Kexin hesitantly sniffed.

She curiously asked, ”What body wash did you use, it smells so nice?”

Lu Li had just taken a bath.

But he was sure Liu Kexin wasn’t talking about the scent of body wash.

It should be his stray thoughts, releasing pheromones from his body.

Lu Li teased her, ”Smells nice, doesn’t it? Want to get closer and sniff?”

Liu Kexin replied, ”No, don’t talk anymore, sleep.”

Finally, sharing a bed.

Lu Li surely needed to make an effort.

To see if any story could happen.

Well, even an accident would do.

Therefore, he deliberately found a topic, ”Hey, have you thought about what I mentioned before I went to Macau? I’ll sleep after you answer.”

Liu Kexin fell silent again.

Lu Li kept staring at her.

When he first went to bed, Liu Kexin had blushed.

But hearing this question, the flush faded all of a sudden, and her mood seemed somewhat heavy.

He felt bewildered.

Clearly, Liu Kexin liked him.

Why did she show a heavy expression when asked this question?

But since she didn’t say anything.

Out of respect.

Lu Li didn’t press further.

For a moment, the atmosphere became stagnant.

The whole bedroom was silent enough to hear a pin drop.

After about a minute.

Liu Kexin suddenly let out a long sigh.

Lu Li asked puzzled, ”Why the sudden sighing?”

Liu Kexin’s tone was slightly bitter as she gently said, ”Nothing, just sleep.”

The other party must have something on their mind.

But the human heart is separated by the belly...

Sigh, I have telepathy.

Why not just open it to know what Liu Kexin is really thinking?

Lu Li wasted no time in activating telepathy, wanting to hear the other party’s inner voice.

In the next moment, he indeed heard the inner voice passing from nearby.

Liu Kexin’s inner voice: ”How nice it would be if I were born into an ordinary family, then I wouldn’t have to consider so much, could be with whomever I wanted, but I was born into the Liu Family, this big family, many things really aren’t up to me.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Li’s heart stirred.

He roughly understood why Liu Kexin had been avoiding the question.

To speak frankly, she had taken the initiative to kiss him, proving there indeed was affection.

Therefore, asking if she’s willing to be together, the answer should not be hard.

Unless it’s the type of woman who deliberately keeps a man in suspense, only then after intimacy would she remain ambiguous without giving a direct answer.

Clearly, Liu Kexin being a virtuous virgin.

Definitely isn’t like that man-playing Sea Queen.

Thus, her not giving a clear reply definitely had reasons.

Previously Lu Li thought it was her reserved nature causing issues.

Upon hearing the inner voice now, he realized he misunderstood.

The main reason Liu Kexin didn’t answer was because of her family.

Lu Li remembered she once said, the young ones in the Liu Family don’t have the right to choose their marriage partners independently, otherwise, they would lose everything.

Yes, it’s hard for anyone to give up billions for some person.

Lu Li could understand this point.

What he couldn’t understand was, if unwilling to part with the inheritance, why keep me hanging? Just refuse outright wouldn’t it be better?

Thinking about this, Lu Li couldn’t help but frown, ”You haven’t been answering my question because you’re unwilling to give up the inheritance, right?”

”No...”

Liu Kexin, anxious, tried to explain.

But suddenly, she seemed to realize something, her tone turned calm, ”It is indeed like that.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Li was actually thoroughly disappointed with her.

If unwilling to give up the inheritance, just say so.

It’s not like I must have you.

However, as this thought arose, Liu Kexin’s inner voice came again.

”Sigh, if I were really unwilling to give up the inheritance, I wouldn’t have voluntarily taken the role to manage Vox in Huaxia in the future, wouldn’t it be better to stay in Ugly Country to please grandfather rather than showcase abilities?”

Liu Kexin was inwardly very bitter, ”I just want to escape that environment, which is why I came to Vox.”

Lu Li was stunned.

According to this, could it be he misunderstood her?

Since Liu Kexin doesn’t mind the inheritance, why hasn’t she given a response?

Lu Li continued listening to hear the answer clearly.

Liu Kexin’s inner voice came again, ”I really like you, and just like my cousin, I can give up the inheritance for love, but there’s a lot of uncertainty, what if you turn heartless in the future? Or if my family gets angry and harms you, what then?”

Upon hearing this, Lu Li’s thoughts turned heavy.

He was truly astonished.

Would Liu Kexin actually give up the inheritance for love?

Lu Li suddenly recalled an incident previously on TikTok.

A Russian girl posted saying she wanted to leave Huaxia.

Because she endured love’s bitterness during four years in Huaxia.

At this point, a netizen replied, ”Don’t go, marry me, I’ll give you a dowry, car and house.”

But the Russian girl only responded with a brief sentence: I need love.

I need love.

Such a simple phrase.

Placed next to dowry, car, house.

Seems so abrupt.

Yet so deafening.

Pure love.

This is something many don’t comprehend.

It’s rare yet cheap.

Because love is easily betrayed.

Sincere feelings don’t easily exchange for sincere feelings.

Don’t know since when.

Our subconscious idea of love.

Seems to rely on material support.

Without material support, love seems like fish out of water, quickly dying.

Lu Li never thought he would actually hear pure love from Liu Kexin’s heart.

For a moment, he didn’t know whether to continue pursuing this woman.

He surely couldn’t settle his heart.

If the other party truly gave up everything to be with him.

And later discovered him being unfaithful, wouldn’t she be terribly heartbroken?

Lu Li didn’t want to tarnish Liu Kexin’s pure view of love.

He simply chose not to respond.

Prepared to clear up his thoughts.

Then decided how to relate with her.

As for Liu Kexin’s inner worry that the Liu Family might harm him.

Lu Li didn’t take it seriously at all.

He had evolved for so long.

How could ordinary people hurt him?

Lu Li suddenly asked, ”Liu Kexin, if I can give you enough sense of security, would you date me?”

Liu Kexin was startled, for the first time directly answering such a question, ”I think... I probably would.”

Finally obtained a direct reply.

Truthfully, Lu Li was in a good mood.

Realizing a significant breakthrough happened between him and Liu Kexin tonight.

Now only a thin layer remains unpierced.

And the initiative to pierce this layer lies with him.

Lu Li believes, as long as he can provide ample security, she surely will follow him without hesitation.
