Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 164: Chapter 154: Setting Up the Game

The late night in Macau was still filled with dazzling lights.

Lu Li and Qin Liang walked down the street, smiles on their faces.

Earlier, after he won 264 million Hong Kong Dollars in one go, the people sent to monitor the game immediately contacted their bosses behind the scenes, all of which Lu Li noticed in time.

Using his spiritual power, he detected that those private bankers behind the scenes seemed unable to bear such a huge win and loss and showed an intention to end the game, admitting defeat.

Lu Li thought, how could that be?

He was aiming to win five or six billion.

How could it end with just two or three billion?

He had plenty of reasons to believe that if these private bankers stopped betting against him, the news would definitely spread, causing other private bankers in the VIP rooms of Macau Entertainment City not to gamble with him either.

This kind of thing is quite common in the industries of gambling and antiques.

As long as one place gets the news, others are sure to know as well.

For example, if an expert wins too much at a certain entertainment venue, they not only get blacklisted by that particular venue, but by all entertainment venues in the area.

Therefore, aiming for a long-term game, Lu Li slightly held back.

During subsequent matches, he continued to both win and lose.

In general, his wins and losses tonight balanced around three hundred million Hong Kong Dollars.

Perhaps seeing that Lu Li both won and lost, after those monitoring the game reported the situation, the bosses behind them sighed in relief, thinking that perhaps he just had good luck tonight, which is why he won so much earlier on.

So, Lu Li was not only not blacklisted by the VIP room but might continue to play.

But not tonight for sure.

He had to wait and come back tomorrow.

Simmer slowly, then boil down.

That was Lu Li’s strategy.

In other words, how much he could win tomorrow night was crucial.

Because it might be his last night playing at Macau Entertainment City.

Qin Liang also won quite a lot of money tonight.

He laughed loudly, ”Master Lu, you were deliberately winning and losing back there, right?”

Lu Li blinked and said, ”Why do you say that?”

Qin Liang replied, ”You helped Miss Zhao win a lot of money, and then you didn’t do much yourself; I’d never believe you couldn’t win more money.”

Lu Li smiled and didn’t respond.

Indeed, he helped Miss Zhao win a lot of money tonight and got her contact information.

Actually, he didn’t really care about whether he got a female singer’s contact.

It’s just that she was very warm, which made him feel accomplished, so he helped her win some money.

After all, Miss Zhao is currently one of the hottest female singers, plus she’s very beautiful.

Of course, Lu Li had a slight spiritual cleanliness and didn’t have much interest in women in the entertainment industry.

However, winning two to three billion Hong Kong Dollars tonight made him thrilled.

As Lu Li walked, he mused to himself, ”After deducting some taxes, the actual amount I got is about two billion nine hundred million, which is roughly equivalent to two billion six hundred and eighty million in Chinese Yuan. It seems I need to win around four billion Hong Kong Dollars tomorrow to achieve my goal.”

Alright, then win four billion tomorrow night!

Lu Li set himself a goal.

He actually wanted to win more.

But if he won too much, they wouldn’t want to play with him anymore.

This was evident from tonight when he won two hundred and sixty-four million Hong Kong Dollars in one go; those private bankers wanted to pull out.

...

Elsewhere, Cheng Rong didn’t expect Lu Li to win nearly thirty million just in the VIP room tonight.

Winning thirty million in the VIP room meant that his more than a dozen partners together lost nearly three hundred million.

Cheng Rong could imagine that his partners must be furious at this moment.

Although in the gambling industry, it’s normal to both win and lose, losing three hundred million in one night is honestly not common.

Thinking of this, Cheng Rong planned to comfort his partners, to prevent them from having any negative feelings.

After all, he still needed these partners to share the risk with him.

In the office.

Cheng Rong held the landline receiver to his ear.

He dialed the number of one of the partners.

Beep, beep-beep.

After two or three rings, the call was answered.

Cheng Rong tried to speak cheerfully, ”President Zhu, tonight let...”

”Damn it!” A rather angry middle-aged man’s voice came from the other end of the line, ”Cheng Sheng, is that guy cheating? Otherwise, how could he win so much money from us in one night?”

Cheng Rong could hear that President Zhu was quite displeased.

He frowned and said honestly, ”At first, I also thought that guy was cheating. While he was playing, I secretly investigated thoroughly, but unfortunately, there was no sign of cheating. So, him winning so much money tonight was purely due to extraordinary luck.”

President Zhu was a bit anxious, ”No matter how good the luck is, you can’t win so much money from us in one night. No, I need to get the money back.”

Cheng Rong frowned even more, ”President Zhu, what era is this? You’re still thinking about calling for violence? We lost, that’s it. Moreover, this person called Lu Li, I see he has a close relationship with Qin Liang, and you know well enough what Qin Liang’s father’s status is, I advise you not to bring trouble on yourself.”

”I’m not thinking about violence; I know we live in a society governed by law, and he has Qin Liang’s backing.”

President Zhu seemed to have a plan in mind already.

He shared his thoughts, ”I’m thinking of setting up a trap for this guy to make him spit back everything he’s won.”

Cheng Rong asked, ”Is this your idea or everyone’s idea?”

President Zhu said, ”It’s everyone’s idea.”

Cheng Rong asked again, ”What are you planning to do?”

President Zhu straightforwardly said, ”We’ve contacted a few skilled cheaters. We just need you to do us a favor, arrange for him to play Texas Hold’em or some other poker in the lobby tomorrow. As long as he agrees, my cheaters can definitely help us win back the money.”

Cheng Rong stayed silent for a long time, considering the pros and cons.

President Zhu knew that Cheng Rong was more worried, but he didn’t hurry to urge him.

He thought for about a minute or two.

Cheng Rong slowly said, ”My situation is different from yours. I have fifteen VIP rooms here in Macau, relying on reputation. If I cooperate with you to cheat, once the matter is exposed, I won’t be able to maintain my business here. So, I won’t participate in this, but I can help you set up the game. And if the opponent finds out that the expert you’ve hired is cheating, I’ll report it to the police immediately. I need to make this clear to you.”

President Zhu just wanted to win the money back; he didn’t care much about anything else.

He replied, ”I understand. Your VIP rooms should operate as they should, the rake is according to the rules, and everything else follows the rules. If the expert we hire is found cheating by the guy, you should handle it according to the rules.”

Only then did Cheng Rong smile, ”Alright, I’ll find a female agent to try and lure him to play, but tonight he won three hundred million; it won’t be easy to trick him to come.”

President Zhu said, ”You tell him, we have five hundred million prepared here. Once he hears this, he will definitely agree one hundred percent.”

Cheng Rong was quite surprised, ”You’re really preparing five hundred million to gamble with him?”

President Zhu laughed loudly, ”Of course, we need to prepare the money, but we never thought we’d lose to him. Isn’t this just a setup to trick him into playing, so we can win back the money we lost to him?”

Cheng Rong thought so too, ”Alright, tomorrow I’ll have someone find him, but there’s no guarantee it will work.”

President Zhu said, ”I know, just do your best over there.”

...

He slept soundly and had a restful nap.

When he woke up in the morning, Lu Li exchanged a few messages with the female singer Zhao Chun’ai.

It was just small talk, mostly about agreeing to go to the entertainment venue together tonight for a few rounds.

He lay in bed for about an hour or so.

Lu Li was just about to go out to stroll and buy some things to take back.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang ding dong, ding dong.

The footsteps didn’t sound like Qin Liang.

He specifically used his spiritual power to check the situation.

He found a beautiful, tall woman standing outside the door.

This woman was very pretty, even more so than a celebrity actress.

The key feature was her voluptuous figure, making her seem very attractive.

Lu Li detected the woman’s appearance, and he was momentarily startled.

Because he didn’t know this woman at all.

Feeling a bit curious, he still got out of bed and went over to open the door.

Upon opening the door, before he could say anything, the beauty quickly bowed and warmly said, ”Hello, Mr. Lu. I am sent by President Cheng to deliver the black card.”

Oh, someone from Cheng Rong.

Lu Li didn’t become suspicious.

Because when you reach a certain amount of play in Macau Entertainment City, they do indeed give out black cards.

And provide luxurious suites.

They may even send female agents to offer you the warmest services.

How enthusiastic this service gets depends entirely on your own capability.

Lu Li casually took the black card and said, ”Okay, thank you.”

The female agent quickly introduced herself, ”My name is Ye Xiaobing. President Cheng also asked me to bring a bottle of red wine for you. I’ve had someone go get it, and it should be delivered soon. Later, you can see if it satisfies you. President Cheng said, if not, you can have me replace it.”

Lu Li responded, ”Alright.”

Ye Xiaobing smiled and said, ”Sorry to disturb your rest. You can go back inside and continue your rest, I’ll wait outside for the red wine to arrive.”

Lu Li was already up.

Someone was proactively delivering things to the door.

How could he let her wait outside?

Lu Li gestured inside and said, ”Come in and sit.”

Ye Xiaobing thanked him and then followed him inside, closing the door after her.

Lu Li didn’t think too much about it and casually asked Ye Xiaobing about the functions of the black card.

Ye Xiaobing explained the benefits of this premium black card.

Reportedly, this is a top-tier privilege black card.

The holder of the black card can enjoy one-on-one services of a private butler.

They also have access to free rooms, meals, and various premium services.

These services not only include a variety of entertainment projects within the casino.

They also cover high-end travel services such as private jets and luxury yachts.

Lu Li didn’t expect such comprehensive services and put away the black card as the conversation progressed.

After chatting for a little while, Ye Xiaobing gradually steered the conversation towards gambling.

She casually mentioned, ”I heard that President Cheng is organizing some wealthy people for a big gamble tonight, are you interested, Mr. Lu?”

Lu Li originally wanted to win a bit more money tonight.

Upon hearing there’s a big gamble, he became interested.

He asked, ”How big is the game?”

Ye Xiaobing said, ”I’ve heard there are four or five wealthy patrons, each prepared with over a hundred million Hong Kong Dollars to play.”

Four or five wealthy patrons.

Each ready with over a hundred million?

Lu Li’s interest was piqued upon hearing this.

These four or five people together would make around four or five hundred million, right?

His original goal was to win four billion Hong Kong Dollars and then stop.

Now such a big game seems like it was custom-made for him.

Although he hadn’t shared his thoughts with anyone, Lu Li still felt it was too much of a coincidence.

He was pondering whether he had won too much last night and Cheng Rong couldn’t bear the loss, so he set up the game to win back the three hundred million Hong Kong Dollars he lost?
