Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 160: Chapter 149: Underwriting

City of Dreams.

The noise was overwhelming, countless gamblers were gambling with excitement.

Some were sitting in front of slot machines.

Others were shouting around the gaming tables.

Most people here share a common characteristic.

Six or seven out of ten looked haggard.

But their facial expressions were very excited.

As if they had taken stimulants.

Lu Li could feel that the air here seemed fresher.

He didn’t care about those gamblers.

Nor did he care if the air was fresh or not.

Lu Li was thinking about what game could quickly make money since the Macau Casino is legal and gambling is involved.

Qin Liang was introducing the casino situation to Lu Li, ”Most of the tables here start at three hundred, electronic tables at a minimum of fifty, slot machines at least five cents a bet, well, I mean Hong Kong Dollars, gambling is legal here, so you can play without worry.”

Lu Li listened carefully to the introduction and couldn’t help but nod slightly.

Qin Liang continued, ”In here, we generally use Hong Kong Dollars, for small chips exchange, you can directly exchange them with Hong Kong Dollars at the table, but if it’s Renminbi or other currencies, you need to exchange for chips at the designated place before you can go to the table.”

Lu Li said helplessly, ”I came here in a hurry, and didn’t bring Hong Kong Dollars, looks like I can only use my card.”

Qin Liang fawningly said, ”No problem, I exchanged some Hong Kong Dollars, if you need you can take some.”

Lu Li thought that he originally came to Macau to win money, as long as he had some chips, who would still use their own money?

He nodded and said, ”Alright, then lend me a thousand Hong Kong Dollars first.”

Qin Liang thought he wanted a million Hong Kong Dollars, frowned, and said, ”A million Hong Kong Dollars, I don’t have that much on me at the moment, but no worry, I will...”

Lu Li looked over speechlessly, ”I said a thousand Hong Kong Dollars, not a million.”

Qin Liang couldn’t help but laugh, ”Misunderstanding, misunderstanding, a thousand Hong Kong Dollars is not a problem, I have four to five hundred thousand Hong Kong Dollars on me, don’t you want to take more?”

Lu Li waved his hand and said, ”No need, a thousand Hong Kong Dollars is enough.”

Qin Liang immediately took out a thousand Hong Kong Dollars from his bag.

Lu Li took the money.

Now that he had money, what game should he play?

He couldn’t help but look at the slot machines.

Qin Liang was very good at observing.

As soon as he saw Lu Li seemed a bit interested in the slot machines, he immediately introduced, ”Mr. Lu, slot machines are not worth playing, and it’s easy to get addicted, in the end, you get carried away and lose everything.”

Lu Li asked puzzledly, ”A slot machine is just that, how could it be addictive?”

Qin Liang carefully explained, ”Most slot machines here accumulate jackpots, it’s not uncommon to win millions or even tens of millions at once, wouldn’t you say that’s addictive?”

Lu Li asked curiously, ”Cumulative jackpots?”

Qin Liang said, ”That’s right.”

Lu Li blinked and asked, ”Even with cumulative jackpots, how much can one machine accumulate?”

”Some machines accumulate their jackpots independently, the amount won’t be too high.” Qin Liang smiled, ”But most here are networked cumulative jackpot machines, a big prize comes out every one or two years, the biggest prize I know of is someone winning 21.12 million Hong Kong Dollars on a slot machine, the minimum bet for a slot machine is five cents, five cents per line, generally fifty to one hundred lines, meaning pressing the button costs around two and a half to five bucks, hmm, odds are generally not high, beginners usually lose, in a minute a hundred bucks are gone.”

A few bucks with a chance to win hundreds of millions?

No wonder Qin Liang said it could be addictive.

Imagine, dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of machines sharing one jackpot.

If you really win the big prize, it would be at least hundreds of thousands.

If more, as Qin Liang said.

Hundreds of millions aren’t impossible.

Unfortunately, slot machines are pseudorandom.

Even if you traveled back from the future.

Knowing what award should be opened in the next round.

Then you bet, affecting the payout probability.

Then, slot machines might not produce that result.

Moreover, the ceiling for slot machines is very low, not easy to win big money sustainably.

Lu Li didn’t want to play pseudorandom.

This is playing against a machine.

He’s not necessarily going to lose to the machine.

It’s just that playing is a bit too troublesome.

Thinking, Lu Li asked, ”Mr. Qin, what game is simple and straightforward, and can win more?”

Qin Liang recalled and said, ”Simple and straightforward, play Sic Bo, it’s easy to learn, just need to bet, as for winning more, you can find someone to underwrite.”

Lu Li asked, ”Underwrite?”

”Table underwriting, as the name implies, is an off-table betting transaction.” Qin Liang carefully introduced, ”Simply put, when a gambler is gambling on the table, an off-table lever style, to enlarge the amount of gambling. For example, a one-on-one underwriting, a gambler wins a million on the table, also a million off the table; a one-to-ten underwrite wins ten million on the table, the off-table private banker has to pay the gambler a hundred million.”

He paused and continued, ”I know a person who likes to underwrite one to twenty, which means, every bet he places three million, wins three million on the table, but has to win sixty million off the table, this is winning the VIP hall master, and vice versa, table wins and losses are multiplied by twenty. Of course, such gameplay is accepted by Macau’s legal casinos, and if you let a junket find someone to underwrite, a 1.7% commission must be paid.”

Lu Li originally wanted to win a bit more ”research funding,” so naturally, he wanted to play bigger.

He thought for a moment and said, ”Get me a somewhat powerful junket, I might play a bit big today.”

Qin Liang, without hesitation, said, ”Sure, I’ll call a licensed legal junket to come over.”

At this moment, Lu Li walked to the Sic Bo table.

He first exchanged a thousand Hong Kong Dollars for chips.

Lu Li slightly understood the rules.

Macau’s Sic Bo replaced dice pips one to six with symbols.

Fish, red, is one pip.

Shrimp, green, two points.

Gourd, blue, three points.

Money, blue, four points.

Crab, green, five points.

Chicken, red, six points.

The three dice weigh the same, perfectly balanced, and each pair of opposite sides add up to seven points.

Before the players place their bets, the dealer must cover the dice cup with a glass cover, secure it with a clasp, and then press the lever three times, making the dice jump inside the glass cover. When the ”Please Place Your Bets” sign lights up, the players can start placing their bets.

Before unveiling the dice, the dealer rings a bell to stop bets from being placed and signals with the word ”Open” in Chinese to show the game is about to reveal results.

When unveiling the dice, the dealer opens the clasp, removes the cover, announces the results, and lights up the winning sections.

If the dealer finds that the dice are stacked or leaning unbalanced after unveiling, they may declare the round void and initiate the next round and accept new bets, while original bets cannot be canceled.

The payout rule for big or small is one-to-one.

Four to ten points is small, eleven to seventeen points is big.

You can also bet on the total points of the dice.

That is, the sum of the points on the three dice.

The payout odds for four to seventeen points vary.

The minimum is one-to-six.

The highest can reach one-to-fifty.

There are also various other ways to play, such as betting two-dice combinations, pairs, specific numbers, and all numbers.

The highest payout is for specific numbers.

The maximum payout is one-to-one hundred fifty.

Lu Li roughly figured out the game rules and stood there waiting for the female dealer to finish pressing the lever.

Well, since gambling is legal in Macau, he doesn’t have to worry about any trouble.

When the ”Please Place Your Bets” light turned on, he tossed a one-thousand Hong Kong Dollar chip on nine points.

A group of people nearby each placed their bets.

Including Qin Liang, who was on the phone next to him, also placed a thousand on big.

A moment later, the female dealer rang the bell to stop bets and then crisply said, ”Open.”

The female dealer opened the clasp and removed the cover.

Inside, the three dice showed a surprising one, two, and six.

Adding them up totaled nine points.

”Haha, I’ve won the bet!”

”Tsk, it came up small again, how boring.”

”Oh, someone hit the number, although this round is one-to-six, getting the number right is pretty impressive.”

The gamblers showed various expressions.

Meanwhile, someone noticed Lu Li hit the number and couldn’t help but glance over.

Qin Liang was initially unfocused, on the phone with a chip pusher.

Suddenly, he saw the female dealer paying Lu Li six thousand in chips.

Qin Liang was momentarily stunned and cheerfully said, ”Mr. Lu, you’re really lucky, hitting the number on your first round, but it’s a pity the bet was too small, otherwise you’d win more.”

Lu Li smiled and said, ”No rush, take it slow.”

He gathered the payable chips.

Counting his original capital.

The chips suddenly totaled seven thousand.

The female dealer in front readied herself.

Lu Li glanced over and directly tossed five thousand in chips on any three colors.

Hmm, up until now, he has played rather cautiously, not selecting the highest payout.

Lu Li chose a relatively lower payout.

The main reason was to avoid attracting the casino’s attention.

He didn’t want a repeat of Myanmar’s legal casino not letting him play.

Who knew the payout he chose was still attention-grabbing?

So, when the female dealer opened the cup again.

The crowd saw fish, fish, and chicken, three red-sided dice inside.

This caused a sudden uproar among the onlookers.

”My God!”

”This gentleman won again?”

”It was one-to-six before, now one-to-seven?”

”Looks like he’s very lucky. Should we follow his bet next?”

Amidst the crowd’s discussions, eyes kept darting towards Lu Li.

Even Qin Liang, who had just finished his call, was somewhat dumbfounded by the scene.

He looked unbelievingly to his side, ”Mr. Lu, your luck is simply incredible! You’ve hit high payouts twice in a row?”

Lu Li wiped his sweat, thinking his chosen odds were still too high and too eye-catching.

Hmm, he should slightly lower the odds next time.

Try to win a few hundred million without drawing too much attention first.

Then have the chip pusher Qin Liang found back him, and strike big for a few billion.

Anyway, since this is Macau and gambling is legal, winning a few billion should be fine, right?
