Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 166: Chapter 156: What Gives You the Right?

In the VIP room.

The dealer stepped forward to explain the rules of this poker game.

She was a young female dealer, around twenty-four or twenty-five years old, very beautiful. She slowly said, ”This Texas Hold’em game will proceed with no-limit betting, but there are ante requirements. The small blind is at least one hundred thousand chips, and the big blind is two hundred thousand chips. Each raise must be at least double the previous bet, with no upper ceiling. For example, if Mr. Lu bets one hundred thousand, the next player must bet more than two hundred thousand chips. Additionally, I will take a three percent rake from the winner each round. Do you have any objections?”

Lu Li shook his head, ”No.”

Zhang Jianmin said relaxedly, ”No problem.”

”First, let’s determine the small and big blind positions.”

”The ante and rake are not an issue.”

Greg, Suqi, and the others also expressed their positions.

Typically, Texas Hold’em has three types of betting methods.

These are limit betting, pot-limit, and no-limit betting.

Limit betting means that during each betting round, there is a cap on the maximum bet. For example, two and four minimum bets mean the first two rounds have a minimum bet of two, and the third and fourth rounds have a minimum bet of four. In each betting round, a player can only raise three times. So, if the first player bets two, the second player can raise to four, the third to six, and the fourth can only raise to eight. Eight is the maximum bet for that round, and players after can only call, not raise.

In pot-limit, each round, you can raise up to the total amount the player already has on the table.

Of course, these two have nothing to do with today’s game.

Because today, Lu Li and the others were going to play the most thrilling no-limit Texas Hold’em game.

This rule is very simple. The bet has no limits, but if you want to raise, the raise must be at least double the previous player’s bet.

Of course, considering rake profits, the casino forced a minimum requirement for the small blind and big blind ante at one hundred thousand and two hundred thousand, respectively.

In such a no-limit game, if the situation is intense, a single hand might even reach a terrifying bet size of over a hundred million.

”For fairness, the positions we will determine in a moment will be rotated with each round, similar to a conventional move. After all, this isn’t a tournament—it’s a real-money game. We need to ensure fairness for every player,” the female dealer continued. ”Now, let’s roll the dice to select positions. The one with the highest number gets to pick first. If the numbers tie, we’ll have a second roll.”

As she spoke, she took out two dice from her pocket, ”Who wants to go first?”

Although the position for no-limit betting is crucial, Lu Li knew that without any special techniques, dice rolling is purely luck. He straightforwardly said, ”I’ll go first.”

The others had no objection.

Lu Li rolled the dice first, a three and a five, totaling eight, which was relatively small. He didn’t use any supernatural ability to control it.

Subsequently, the others also rolled. Zhang Jianmin was lucky, with the highest number. He picked the dealer position first, the best spot in no-limit betting.

Zheng Ya rolled the second highest, choosing the cut-off position, which is advantageous for knowing more players’ hole cards and making decisions beneficial to oneself based on their choices.

If other players choose to fold, the cut-off can easily call or raise to pressure the dealer, small blind, and big blind.

If the cut-off player has a strong hand and other players call, this position is also ideal for raising.

Soon, positions were determined.

Lu Li was placed in the small blind position, Zhao Haizhe in the big blind, Greg and Suqi in early position, followed by Zheng Ya in the cut-off and Zhang Jianmin in the dealer position.

Everyone adjusted their positions.

Soon, the first game began.

The female dealer dealt two hole cards to each person.

Since Lu Li was in the small blind position, he had to post the forced bet.

He tossed a one hundred thousand chip onto the table and looked at his hole cards: 2 and 3, both spades. Overall, they seemed decent.

The big blind, Zhao Haizhe, tossed in two hundred thousand chips.

Next, it was Greg’s turn. He looked at his cards, then tossed in two hundred thousand chips as well, ”I’ll follow for the first hand.”

Suqi flashed a sweet smile, seemingly confident in her hole cards, weighed her chips, and tossed in chips worth four hundred thousand, ”Raise it.”

Zheng Ya seemed to have poor cards, folding without placing a bet.

Zhang Jianmin, expressionless and silent, tossed in four hundred thousand chips.

Seeing his cards were decent, Lu Li followed.

He took out three hundred thousand more chips to match the four hundred thousand.

Zhao Haizhe smiled, ”I’ll follow too.”

This round, with Zheng Ya folded, no one raised further, moving to the next round.

The dealer revealed three community cards.

It was a straight draw: seven of clubs, eight of diamonds, and nine of spades.

The cards were unfavorable to Lu Li.

Because he had two and three of spades, the best way to win was two more spades for a flush, or two more twos or threes, or one more two and one more three; otherwise, his chances were slim.

Lu Li was still getting familiar with Texas Hold’em rules and hadn’t ”gone all out” from the start.
