Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 172: Chapter 158: Cheating

The audience stands.

”My heavens!” Ye Xiaobing was startled. She stared wide-eyed at the screen showing Lu Li’s hole cards, rubbed her eyes in disbelief, took a deep breath, and said in horror, ”Did I... Did I see it wrong? A royal flush?”

Qin Liang’s eyes were a bit dazed, ”This... A royal flush, in the context of three other players having full houses and straights?”

”Mr. Lu hit it big this hand!”

”Wow! Is this hand worth 820 million?”

”Incredible! Mr. Lu truly pulled off an incredible move here. Initially, he kept calling high bets without looking at his cards, and I secretly worried for him, thinking he was just giving away money. After all, the other three who hadn’t folded had made full houses, and Greg even managed to get a full house with three Aces at the critical moment. I was despairing, but who could have predicted that Mr. Lu would unveil a royal flush as a killer move and achieve a stunning reversal? This hand was too exciting!”

”Indeed, it was too thrilling!”

”It had me on the edge of my seat!”

Zhao Chun’ai, Mei Ruohua, Qin Liang, and the others were all shocked and startled from the sidelines.

At first, in the initial three hands, Lu Li’s level of Texas Hold’em was displayed as too low.

He would fold at the drop of a hat, like a novice player.

So when the fourth hand began, and Lu Li chose not to look at his cards and ”randomly call bets,” everyone mistakenly thought he had given up.

Such situations are quite common at the gambling table.

Some people get desperate from losing and start playing recklessly.

For instance, in Hong Kong-style five-card stud, also known as ”squeeze out,” some people, when desperate, would go all-in with just two cards.

They thought Lu Li was in a similar situation.

But who could have known, it wasn’t the case at all.

Lu Li eventually won with a royal flush, with a probability of thirty thousand to one, crushing the other three and laughing to the end.

Winning an enormous gamble of 820 million!

It felt like a dream, too surreal to believe!

Not to mention those close to Lu Li, witnessing such a stunning turnaround couldn’t believe their eyes.

Across the way, even Cheng Rong and other high-level staff, who were used to all sorts of hands, were dumbfounded!

”Does it have to be this absurd?” a long-faced executive said in disbelief.

Another tall man in his forties widened his eyes, ”How the hell is this even possible?”

Cheng Rong was even more astonished and said, ”If we hadn’t prepared a recording feature, with such a hand appearing, the other players would surely think we teamed up with Mr. Lu as a scam to cheat their money!”

Indeed.

If such a hand appeared and someone started suspecting without a recording.

The casino wouldn’t have been able to explain it even if they had mouths for days.

It was just too absurd!

A full house with three Aces.

A full house with three Kings.

A full house with three 5s.

Plus Zhang Jianmin’s straight who folded before!

These four hands in any other Texas Hold’em game would have a winning probability of over ninety-nine percent.

Yet at this moment!

But now!

There emerged an even more terrifying royal flush that crushed them all!

How could such a situation not lead others to suspect that the casino might have colluded with Lu Li to scam them out of their money?

Precisely to prevent the possibility of being suspected of collusion and cheating, the casino, when arranging games, always livestreams the proceedings to the audience area, and even records from the perspectives of each participant and even the dealer to prevent disputes.

At this moment, Cheng Rong and several high-level casino staff couldn’t help but feel secretly relieved.

Thankfully, they had the recording feature.

Without it, they wouldn’t have been able to clear their name even if they jumped into the Yellow River.

Cheng Rong secretly let out a bitter smile in his heart.

He hadn’t conspired with Lu Li at all.

On the contrary, he had made an arrangement with the bosses behind Zhang Jianmin, Zheng Ya, and the others for convenience.

In reality, the entire gambling table’s cameras had some tricks, except for Lu Li and the dealer, who were normal.

The unexpected development was that even after Cheng Rong had helped the cheating experts brought in by his partners so much, Lu Li still ended up dominating the table!

If anyone looked the gloomiest, it was likely people like Wang Qin, who were there to monitor the gambling.

They hadn’t expected at all that Lu Li could win this hand amidst so many expert cheats.

Initially, when they saw Lu Li play at such a low level of Texas Hold’em, they even thought he couldn’t play and assumed they could easily win back the money they’d lost before.

Yet reality slapped them hard in the face; Lu Li not only knew how to play Texas Hold’em but also used one hand to win an immense gamble of 820 million, declaring his prowess!

Turns out he had been playing the fool all along!

If their guess was right, his frequent folding in the earlier hands was very likely a strategy.

A tactic of appearing weak to the enemy.

All to seize the opportunity to strike hard!

The most crucial part was that he succeeded!

Damn?

Could this kid be cheating?

Wang Qin and a few gambling monitors looked grim.

They were all suspicious whether Lu Li was playing dirty.

In fact, they all knew it wasn’t possible.

Because the big screen constantly showed Lu Li’s actions, and there was no sign of cheating.

Or rather, even if Lu Li wanted to cheat, he couldn’t have.

Cheng Rong was on their side.

Thus, the only possible reason Lu Li managed to trounce Zheng Ya, Zhang Jianmin, and others, was due to his exceptional playing skills!

...

At the gambling table.

Greg rubbed his eyes several times.

Finally, he took a breath of cold air, looked at Lu Li, and gave him a thumbs up, ”Impressive, you can draw such a hand!”

He didn’t seem to take losing to heart.

After all, he had prepared to cheat anyway.

No matter how much money he lost now.

He was confident he could win it back soon.

Zheng Ya also looked at Lu Li in surprise, ”Mr. Lu, you never looked at your cards the entire time, weren’t you afraid of losing?”
