Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 170: Chapter 157: Defeating Veteran Cheaters in One Round

”Hmm, the most important thing is that three Ks and two As make one of the best full houses. If someone outside is still willing to follow, it suggests one thing - there might be a full house with three As. I’m analyzing this from Zheng Ya’s perspective. Of course, you might have already seen, there is indeed a full house with three As out there, so Zheng Ya isn’t guaranteed to win, but she can’t throw away such a hand. The only thing she can do is to show enough confidence, like making those who might have a full house with three As think she has four of a kind or a straight flush.”

”You mean Zheng Ya wants to scare others away with her strong financial power?”

”What else? Do you think all the chips bet in such high-stakes games are bluffs? Someone has definitely got a good hand, otherwise, there wouldn’t be such high bets.”

”Texas Hold’em is like investing. Sometimes you need to take gutsy risks, and sometimes you need a strong mindset to scare people away.”

The group of observers was chatting. They knew that regardless of who wins or loses in the end, as long as it’s not Lu Li winning, all the money would return to their boss’s pocket. However, from their perspective as onlookers, they still felt that Zheng Ya’s play was too aggressive.

Qin Liang and Zhao Chun’ai, along with others, were also discussing.

”Mr. Qin, do you think Mr. Lu will call?” Zhao Chun’ai asked.

Everyone’s eyes turned to Qin Liang.

”If it were me...” Qin Liang paused for a moment, ”Analyzing from Mr. Lu’s perspective, what I should do is continue to call without looking at the cards. Because if you look at the cards now, whether the hand is good or bad, it might reveal different micro-expressions that others could catch, and then they could adjust their strategy accordingly. But if you don’t look at the cards, there’s a good chance you might lose ten million chips. The wisest choice would still be to take a peek at the cards, and fold if they’re not good, since the outside calls are so fierce, seven or eight out of ten have good hands.”

Cheng Rong had his own understanding. He nodded and said, ”Yeah, Mr. Lu should wisely check the cards, but now we’re just discussing it here. Ultimately, it depends on whether he has the guts to continue calling without looking at the cards. If he has the guts, even if his hole cards are very bad, he might still scare off the opponents. People are far more afraid of the unknown than the known. If he doesn’t look at his cards, everyone will be afraid that he has miraculously gotten an unbelievably good hand.”

That’s what they said.

But at this point, does Lu Li have the confidence to continue calling without looking?

...

Lu Li saw everyone raising and calling so fiercely and thought about going all-in to win all the chips from the others at once.

But he sensed telepathically that these people were already struggling inside.

If he really went all-in, they might all fold.

Then he’d only win as much as is on the table.

Because right now, no one is ”cheating.”

They’re just purely using their Texas Hold’em skills to play.

So with so many chips on the table, everyone is feeling a lot of pressure.

Lu Li wanted to win a bit more and felt it might be better not to scare people off suddenly.

He continued as before, not looking at his cards, and calmly smiled, ”Ten million? I’ll call.”

With that, he took out ten million chips and threw them in to match the bet.

Greg’s hand was three As and two Ks.

This hand was even bigger than Zheng Ya’s.

Even though he saw Lu Li nodded at his cards and still called made him a bit frightened of the unknown.

But his excellent hole cards gave him confidence.

After hesitating for a moment, he still matched the bet.

It was Suqi’s turn.

Everyone’s eyes focused on her sweet face.

Suqi took a deep breath, and then another deep breath, seeming to be in an inner struggle.

After all, her hole cards were a full house with three 5s.

She didn’t have the strength that Zheng Ya and Greg had.

”I... I...” Suqi finally showed a bitter expression, ”I choose... to fold.”

Someone folded after all.

Lu Li felt a little regretful inside.

At this moment, the raising had ended and reached the showdown stage.

The chips on the table had risen from 520 million to 820 million.

Just a bit away from the billion-chip mark.

This huge stake’s game had reached the most thrilling showdown stage.

The people who were chatting boisterously before now collectively shut their mouths, eyes fixed unblinkingly.

Especially the three remaining on the table...

No, to be precise, it was the two, Zheng Ya and Greg.

They weren’t clear about the others’ hole cards, thus were particularly tense.

Zheng Ya smiled and flipped her cards, ”I have a full house with three Ks and two As.”

Suqi felt relieved and said, ”Glad I folded.”

Zhang Jianmin blinked and asked, ”What was your hole card?”

Suqi playfully glanced at him, ”Not telling you.”

Zhang Jianmin chuckled and said casually, ”I folded a straight.”

As he spoke, he deliberately flipped his cards to show everyone.

Zhao Haizhe laughed, ”Mr. Zhang, you’re really decisive, folding a straight. If it were me, I’d definitely follow through. But who could’ve thought Miss Zheng had a full house? I can only say Mr. Zhang made the right choice folding, your judgment is spot on.”

Zheng Ya, seemingly confident in her win, smiled and said, ”Alright, let’s stop chatting and let the other two reveal their cards.”

Everyone’s eyes turned to Lu Li and Greg.

Greg laughed heartily, ”Sorry Miss Zheng, I’m taking this round.”

With that, he flipped his cards.
