Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 67: Chapter 62: Scaring All the Buffet Restaurant Owners

How can you make over a million in one day?

After leaving the Porsche Center, Lu Li kept pondering this question.

In the end, he thought he needed some sort of ”get rich quick” opportunity.

Like gambling on stones, or dealing with antiques.

But it seems a bit unrealistic to gamble on stones here in Shanghai.

Or rather, gambling on stones domestically, with the open and semi-open bids, making a fortune seems really unrealistic.

There might be some possibility with antiques.

Since he has x-ray vision, he reckons he can see the age of the antiques.

Therefore, even if he doesn’t understand antiques, at least he won’t be fooled.

Alright, after meeting Qin Liang at noon, I’ll visit the antique market.

Even though I’m unsure if it will work, Lu Li thinks it’s a direction worth trying.

...

Noon, near Yangpu.

Lu Li finally met the wealthy Qin Liang.

To be honest, he was a bit surprised when he saw Qin Liang getting out of a Rolls-Royce Phantom.

It’s not that he was surprised Qin Liang was rich.

But rather surprised by his age.

Initially, Lu Li assumed that someone in the Western fast-food franchise business would be an accomplished elderly businessman, or at the very least, middle-aged.

Who would’ve thought, Qin Liang looked only about thirty.

”Mr. Lu, hello, hello.”

”Mr. Qin, pleased to meet you.”

Lu Li shook his hand and took a closer look.

Qin Liang was a young man about six feet tall, quite slim but full of energy, wearing rimless glasses. The white shirt he wore, though brand unknown, clearly looked high-end, especially the eye-catching watch.

Lu Li had seen this watch introduced in a magazine about Qin Liang.

It seemed to be a piece from the Jaquet Droz Atelier d’Art series.

Reportedly sold for over four million yuan.

After a brief introduction, Qin Liang inquired, ”Where shall we eat?”

Lu Li, thinking of energy storage, replied, ”Let’s keep it simple, how about a buffet?”

Though Qin Liang wore the equivalent of a house on his wrist, he showed no disdain for buffets and chuckled, ”Sure, there are buffets on both sides of the street here, let’s just pick one.”

The two had a brief discussion and decided not to cross the street, opting for the less crowded buffet nearby.

Inside the store.

At the counter.

Qin Liang was paying.

Lu Li blinked at the owner sitting inside and said, ”Can I eat as much as I want?”

The owner replied mechanically, ”This is a buffet restaurant, eat as you like, just don’t waste food.”

Lu Li grinned, ”Great, I was worried you’d mind if I ate too much, and then kick me out.”

The owner laughed, ”If I was worried about customers eating a lot, I wouldn’t open a buffet restaurant.”

Then...

The owner and wait staff stood dumbfounded as they watched Lu Li take a whole table of food.

It was really a whole table’s worth.

It piled up like a small mountain.

He took everything from seafood, steak, sushi, to fruits and desserts.

At this point, the owner was unsettled, constantly staring at Lu Li and Qin Liang.

He even thought about charging them a ”wastage deposit” if Lu Li ended up wasting food.

By the window, Qin Liang wasn’t at all surprised, still beaming, ”You eat this much at once, the owner might really feel the pinch.”

”Ha, this isn’t even enough to fill the gaps between my teeth,” Lu Li replied with a smile, ”The table’s a bit small, no space, I’ll go get more after I finish this.”

Qin Liang couldn’t help breaking out in a cold sweat, ”The buffet here has a time limit, it’s an hour and a half, it’s good if we can finish this table, and you’re getting more?”

Lu Li was taken aback, ”Huh? Only an hour and a half?”

Qin Liang thought he had miscalculated, ”Yes, otherwise they might charge for wasted food...”

Before he could finish, Lu Li immediately said, ”No, I need to hurry and eat, aim for one or two more tables, we’ll talk after we’re done.”

With that, he began to devour the food on the table like a whirlwind.

In less than half an hour, the entire table of food was gone.

The owner, who had been watching, was dumbstruck.

Though Qin Liang knew Lu Li was a big eater, he didn’t expect him to eat so ferociously, his vision going dark for a moment.

Then Lu Li took another whole table of food and cleared it within another half an hour.

The owner was nearly in tears.

The wait staff kept glancing over, occasionally murmuring among themselves.

Qin Liang was completely at a loss, he decided not to eat anything, just sitting there watching Lu Li perform.

By this point, everyone thought Lu Li had eaten enough.

But who would’ve thought, Lu Li got up again and brought back a large pile of food...

Boss: ”...”

Qin Liang: ”...”

Waiters and customers at seven or eight tables: ”...”

The boss watched Lu Li devour food like a starving ghost reincarnated, a crystal tear falling from his eye.

He thought to himself, what on earth did I do in my past life to deserve such a weirdo in my restaurant?

Meanwhile, at the dining table.

Lu Li wiped his mouth, picked up his phone, and checked the time, ”Hmm, running out of time. I’ll stop eating for now.”

Qin Liang was dumbfounded over there, ”Huh? You mean, if you had the time, you’d continue eating?”

Lu Li chuckled, ”This buffet is actually quite good. If I had time, I’d like to eat a bit more. Alright, let’s talk business.”

”Oh, okay.” Qin Liang composed himself from the surprise and earnestly said, ”Mr. Lu, let me introduce myself. I...”

He explained his background.

A moment later, Lu Li roughly understood who he was dealing with.

Based on Qin Liang’s self-introduction, he was the son of a top domestic tycoon. Not wanting to rely on his family, he took out four or five hundred million to start a business, investing in a Western fast-food chain named ”McBao King.”

Lu Li knew a bit about this brand. It had quite a few chain stores in the surrounding cities and reportedly had an annual turnover of several hundred million.

Qin Liang sighed, ”Although the annual turnover is decent, the McBao King brand still can’t break out of the Jiangsu-Shanghai area. So when I heard Mr. Lu was joining the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, I wanted to collaborate with you. I would invest some money, and you represent McBao King in the competition. Later, I’ll arrange some promotions to see if we can boost the brand’s fame to push McBao King nationwide.”

He looked earnest, ”From seeing you eat so much just now, winning the championship shouldn’t be a problem. If you’re willing to represent McBao King in the contest, I’m open to discussing all conditions.”

Because they were negotiating a collaboration, Lu Li activated his ”Mind Reading Technique” when Qin Liang spoke about the key points.

At this moment, he heard Qin Liang’s inner thoughts.

”Looking at how plainly he’s dressed, he probably isn’t rich. Offering him tens of thousands or up to a million should get him to agree.”

Lu Li listened to Qin Liang’s thoughts and discovered his leverage.

Tens of thousands to a million is indeed a decent sum.

For most competitive eaters, they would agree to such a deal seven or eight times out of ten.

But Lu Li’s livestream sales could earn tens of thousands, sometimes even over a hundred thousand per session, so he wasn’t impressed by this offer.

Honestly, he initially just wanted to enter the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest as an excuse to visit the Ugly Country.

Maybe play a few games in Atlantic City and win a few million US Dollars?

Winning the championship didn’t matter.

Now that someone offered to add some flair to his trip to the Ugly Country,

as long as the conditions were right, Lu Li wouldn’t refuse.

However, Qin Liang’s inner conditions weren’t very enticing.

Lu Li didn’t want to make a fool of himself crazily eating hot dogs with only tens of thousands or a million as the final reward.

In the past, perhaps, because he had no money.

But not now, since he had some money.

Without enough benefits, he really didn’t want to be a clown gobbling food.

Lu Li was about to refuse.

Who would have thought, a nervous Qin Liang conveyed more inner thoughts.

”What if he’s not satisfied with my offer? From last time’s contest where he ate a hundred and one hot dogs in ten minutes and ate two to three large tables of food just now, he is definitely a world-class competitive eater. If I could partner with him, the chances of McBao King gaining fame would greatly increase. Should I offer him some equity?”

”Equity is too high a price, and he doesn’t seem like someone who can earn too much. If tens of thousands or a million doesn’t work, I’ll just raise the offer.”

Hearing these thoughts, Lu Li gave Qin Liang a surprised look.

If the conditions were right, would he actually receive some equity?

But the other party seemed to think he wasn’t familiar with wealth and initially dismissed the notion?

Lu Li suddenly smiled.

Qin Liang thought Lu Li was pondering and immediately returned the smile.

Lu Li said, ”Mr. Qin, to be honest, earning money is relatively easy for me. If you offer the tens or hundreds of thousands, it might not really move me. So, if that’s what you’re thinking, don’t even mention it. Please think of other conditions. I’m planning to visit the antique market now. Think it over and send me a message or call me later.”

Qin Liang didn’t expect Lu Li to guess his inner thoughts, paused for a moment, and then frowned, realizing Lu Li wasn’t easy to deceive.

As a company boss, he certainly couldn’t find the time every day. He managed to come out today to persuade Lu Li.

Since the goal wasn’t achieved yet, Qin Liang didn’t want to give up quickly. He half-jokingly said, ”Going to the antique market? Sure, I’m very interested in antiques too. Let’s go together and have a look.”

Lu Li got up and said, ”Alright.”

The two walked outside.

Passing by the cashier, Lu Li saw the boss staring at him with a mournful look.

He waved with a smile, ”Boss, your buffet is really good. I’ll come back next time to eat at your place.”

The boss turned pale with fear, jumped up with a mournful face, and said, ”Sir! I call you sir! Please, don’t come back and ruin me. I’m really running a small business and can’t withstand your eating! If you ever want to eat at a buffet again, just tell me. I’ll pay for your meal at the buffet across the street. Eat as much as you like there!”

Alright!

No need to say another word.

The boss was terrified by Lu Li’s enormous appetite.

Qin Liang chuckled, thinking that Great God Lu Li was truly fierce and had scared the buffet owner, proving his status as a top competitive eater!

Lu Li was amused by the boss too.

But he didn’t dwell on it and instead focused on the antique market.

Lu Li pondered if he could use his intuition to make a fortune in the antique business.

If possible, he could drive a Porsche 911 home.
