Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 53: Chapter 50: Cash Assets Approaching 1 Million

After signing the contract, he returned to the department.

Lu Li dealt with the piled-up official duties.

He was busy all morning.

Around eleven o’clock, he just put down his work.

He was about to call Xiaoqing and Brother Cheng, two close friends, to go out and find a small restaurant for something delicious.

Xiaoqing always brought him breakfast, so naturally, Lu Li had to reciprocate.

As for Brother Cheng, he was once his mentor at work, and they had a very close relationship.

Moreover, now that Manager Wang was on leave, Brother Cheng helped him handle many things.

Lu Li was not an ungrateful person and kept that in mind.

For a meal like this, of course, he had to invite Brother Cheng.

As it turned out, Lu Li had just left the office and hadn’t had time to call Xiaoqing and Brother Cheng to go out to eat with him when he saw Agent Zhang and Blaze Babe, looking fearful, appear at the department entrance.

Sure enough, they’ve come to beg for forgiveness!

Lu Li found it amusing inside but didn’t show a hint of it on the surface.

He pretended not to see the two, and called out to the office area, ”Brother Cheng, Xiaoqing, come on.”

”Coming.”

”What’s up?”

Brother Cheng and Xiaoqing stepped forward.

Lu Li said quietly, ”The three of us are going out for something good to eat. It’s on me.”

With the leader treating, it was clear he considered them confidants. Brother Cheng and Xiaoqing readily agreed.

The three chatted and walked outside.

Just as they reached the door, Agent Zhang and Blaze Babe approached them with broad smiles.

Agent Zhang was extremely friendly, ”Deputy Manager Lu, are you going for lunch?”

”Brother Lu.” Blaze Babe, who was clearly two to three years older than Lu Li, addressed him with such deference, and said with a hint of flattery, ”We haven’t eaten either, why don’t I treat you instead?”

Brother Cheng and Xiaoqing couldn’t help but stop and look at Lu Li’s face.

In the office, Xiaozhao, Old Zhu, and Xiaomei, among others, also turned their heads at the sound.

Lu Li coldly glanced at the two, continuing to walk briskly ahead, showing no intention of acknowledging them.

Xiaoqing and Brother Cheng understood, and didn’t bother with Agent Zhang and Blaze Babe either.

In such circumstances, being stared at by a room full of people would logically be very embarrassing.

However, Agent Zhang and Blaze Babe couldn’t concern themselves with embarrassment; they knew if they didn’t handle this matter well today, they’d really be out of a job!

The two quickly caught up with Lu Li.

”Deputy Manager Lu, I was wrong.”

”Yeah, I shouldn’t have stood you up yesterday. I had my reasons; please let it slide.”

Agent Zhang and Blaze Babe’s apology was exceedingly sincere.

Lu Li still paid them no heed, as if he hadn’t heard them, and continued joking with Brother Cheng and Xiaoqing out of the company.

He intended to press the two hard, but now wasn’t the time.

Lu Li also wanted them to taste the despair of the ten to twenty people in his department last night!

...

They arrived at a small stir-fry shop.

After sitting down, Lu Li, Brother Cheng, and Xiaoqing started ordering dishes.

Agent Zhang and Blaze Babe, with surprisingly thick skin, had followed them all the way. Now standing by the table, they continued to plead.

Lu Li continued to ignore them, listening and chatting casually with Brother Cheng and Xiaoqing.

Before long, the dishes were brought out one by one.

The three of them enjoyed their meal very much.

Perhaps because it was lunchtime, the stir-fry place gradually filled with people.

Agent Zhang and Blaze Babe kept begging, watched by others with odd looks, and were in a most embarrassing state.

Unfortunately, Lu Li was unmoved; all their pleading was futile.

Blaze Babe suddenly got anxious, kneeling down with a thud, eyes brimming with tears, ”Brother Lu, please be kind; I know I was wrong. Spare me this once!”

All at once, the dozen or so diners in the restaurant cast puzzled looks, seemingly curious about the situation.

Agent Zhang, after all a man, couldn’t bring himself to kneel, but he also bent over to apologize, ”Deputy Manager Lu, you’re a generous person, as long as you forgive us, we can agree to anything.”

”What are you doing?” Lu Li put down his chopsticks and frowned, ”Get up, this behavior is an inappropriate spectacle.”

Xiaoqing and Brother Cheng also stopped eating, their gazes on the two.

Blaze Babe kept shedding tears and sobbing, ”Brother Lu, if you won’t forgive me, I won’t get up.”

Lu Li narrowed his eyes slightly, ”Are you threatening me?”

Blaze Babe was startled, immediately waving her hands, ”No, I wouldn’t threaten you.”

Lu Li’s face remained stern, ”Then get up and talk.”

At this point, Blaze Babe dared not defy him, reluctantly standing and speaking in a weak tone, ”Brother Lu, please forgive me, as long as you’re willing to...”

Upon saying this, she showed a determined look, leaned forward, and whispered into Lu Li’s ear, ”I can sleep with you...”

Poof!

Lu Li almost spat out his drink.

He had always known this woman was restless, but he didn’t expect her to offer such things for a transaction.

To be honest, if Flaming Babe hadn’t brought up this request proactively, maybe Lu Li would have entertained some fantasies about her because of her good figure and looks.

Now that the other party said such words voluntarily, Lu Li just felt she was dirty.

Xiaoqing and Brother Cheng didn’t know what Flaming Babe said, but seeing Lu Li’s intense reaction, they couldn’t help but glance at each other.

Lu Li certainly wouldn’t agree to such a deal.

However, as he was halfway through his meal and the other party had been pleading for so long, it was indeed time to pull the net in.

Otherwise, if the other party truly believed he wouldn’t forgive them, they might just turn and leave.

If that happened, there would be no way to exploit the other party.

Lu Li pointed to the empty stools at the door, ”You two grab a chair each and sit down. Let’s talk slowly.”

”I’ll get them, I’ll get them.”

Agent Zhang was particularly obedient, sprinting to the door in a few quick steps and bringing back two plastic stools.

Then, Agent Zhang and Flaming Babe sat down, visibly uneasy.

Lu Li tapped his fingers on the table, making a soft ”thump thump” sound, ”If I’m willing to forgive, are you truly willing to agree to anything?”

Agent Zhang and Flaming Babe exchanged glances and hurriedly responded, ”Yes, as long as you’re willing to forgive.”

Lu Li gave a slight nod, ”Alright, then I’ll propose a condition. If you can agree, then this matter will be entirely forgotten.”

Flaming Babe tentatively said, ”Please, go ahead.”

Brother Cheng and Xiaoqing were unsure what Lu Li was up to and perked up their ears.

Lu Li said casually, ”The cooperation continues, but I won’t give you a penny of signing fees. Also, only a five percent share, and the contract must be signed for at least a year. If you agree, I’ll pretend this never happened; if not, go back where you came from.”

After speaking, he didn’t give them a chance to respond, stood up directly, ”Brother Cheng, Xiaoqing, I’m full. If you’re still hungry, continue eating, and just put it on my tab.”

Lu Li said goodbye to the small eatery’s owner and left directly.

...

In the afternoon, in the department.

Manager Zhu from HR and over twenty colleagues from Lu Li’s e-commerce sales department all looked in disbelief as Flaming Babe and Agent Zhang shamefully signed the ”unequal contract.”

Just yesterday, Flaming Babe was complaining that a 300,000 signing fee was too low, with a commission demanding thirty percent of the sales revenue.

As a result, after just one day, the company not only saved the 300,000 signing fee but also reduced the commission from thirty percent to five percent?

Xiaozhao sneaked a look at Lu Li.

Xiaomei also showed a look of disbelief.

Old Zhu and Li Shishi, among others, could only smile wryly.

Almost all of them had one thought at this moment: this Deputy Manager Lu seemed to have some remarkable skills.

Seeing the other party had finished signing, Lu Li no longer maintained his sternness and proactively reached out to shake hands with Agent Zhang, ”Pleasure doing business.”

Agent Zhang looked as if he’d lost a parent, his face mournful as he said, ”Pleasure doing business.”

On the contrary, Flaming Babe showed a look of relief. She and Agent Zhang had already received 200,000 from others yesterday. Although there was some loss now, it’s actually not much compared to potentially losing their livelihood.

Lu Li didn’t bother with what they did next, asked someone to send the contract to legal, and then turned back to his office.

...

Around three in the afternoon.

Lu Li had just completed all the accumulated work from before.

He took his cup to the water dispenser to get some water.

Suddenly, his phone on the desk behind him made a ”ding” sound, indicating a new message arrived.

Lu Li was a bit thirsty, so he didn’t check the message immediately.

After downing a glass of water in one go, he finally went back to his desk, picked up his phone, and unlocked it to check.

What he saw immediately delighted him!

It turned out to be a message from the bank.

It read: [Huaxia Agricultural Bank] Your account ending in 3688 completed a transfer deposit on May 20 at 15:01 for RMB 618,500.00, balance 880,128.88.

It was in the account!

The signing fee and last night’s commission from the live sales had finally come in!

Lu Li couldn’t help but feel overjoyed.

His cash assets had reached 880,000.

Just one step away from one million!

He really didn’t expect that in just one or two weeks since his gene unlocking, he not only rose rapidly in the company, leaping from the verge of being fired to becoming a department deputy manager, but his cash assets also skyrocketed, from having only a few dozen yuan to 880,000!

It should be noted that all this happened in just two weeks!

Lu Li was incredibly excited, ”Thank goodness I didn’t quit immediately. Besides 200,000 earned extra, the rest was all squeezed out of the company. Hmm, now it’s 880,000. This week, during my break, I’ll find a way to earn another 120,000. I must break one million in cash assets, then I’ll become a millionaire!”
