Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 52: Chapter 49: Selfless Dedication (Part 2)

No matter what, she couldn’t let that video get onto the internet.

Even if she had to get on her knees and beg Deputy Manager Lu, she wouldn’t hesitate!

...

At Vox, department.

Just after finishing the morning meeting and working in his office, Lu Li had repeatedly rejected a dozen calls from Flaming Baby, finally blocking her number.

”You want me to cut you some slack, how could that happen without begging in person?”

Lu Li’s lips curled into a smirk.

He wasn’t the type to return kindness for grievances.

With you, Flaming Baby, colluding with Vice President Du to such betrayal, you think I won’t make you submit?

He knew that if Flaming Baby couldn’t reach him, she would definitely come begging for forgiveness.

Just as he was thinking this, the office phone suddenly rang.

Lu Li casually picked it up, answering, ”Hello, this is Lu Li, Deputy Manager of Vox E-commerce Sales Department.”

On the other end came the voice of Liu Kexin, ”Come to my office.”

With that, she hung up.

Holding the receiver, Lu Li blinked, inviting him to her office?

He guessed roughly what it might be about, likely related to last night’s live stream sales, and it was highly possible that she wanted to convince him to become a host.

He stood up and headed out.

Took the elevator.

Ding-do, the third floor arrived.

Lu Li arrived at the General Manager’s office, knocked, and entered.

As always, Liu Kexin was dressed in professional attire, and she had already put aside her work, waiting behind her desk.

Upon seeing Lu Li come in, she even flashed a bright smile and walked to the small fridge beside, ”Would you like something to drink?”

Seeing her unexpected behavior made Lu Li uneasy, ”No need, the department is very busy today, just tell me what you need to say.”

”Hey, no rush. If you’re really pressed for time, I can have someone assist you.”

Liu Kexin took out a glass bottle of mineral water from the fridge, ”This brand of mineral water is rich in various trace elements and is healthier to drink.”

Lu Li took a look and saw it was Evian’s naturally weak alkaline mineral water.

He had seen it on Taobao; a case of twenty bottles costs around three hundred yuan.

”Thank you, President Liu.”

He twisted it open and had a sip, and it was just so-so.

Liu Kexin sat back behind her desk, her smile radiant, ”I heard about last night’s event. You handled it brilliantly.”

Lu Li modestly replied, ”It was the result of our team’s effort, not just mine alone.”

Liu Kexin fixed her gaze on him, ”On your first day of streaming, you brought in tens of thousands of viewers for our company, nearly 800,000 in sales, plus tens of thousands of followers. This is very encouraging for my idea of using live stream sales to promote our brand.”

As she spoke, she raised an eyebrow, ”I said before that with your reputation and skills as a host, you could achieve excellent results. See, last night proved my point correct. So, how about it? Are you interested in signing with the company as a live-stream sales host?”

Having experienced last night’s live-stream sales, Lu Li was less resistant.

He was still a bit hesitant, considering hosting would make him finish work late.

Seeing his silence, Liu Kexin started enticing him, ”I previously promised you, if you could grow the streaming room and train a successor, you could leave anytime, and you’d still get the signing bonus and share. It’s convertible to cash. Not only is there a 500,000 signing bonus, but you’d also get a 15% share. You did 790,000 in sales last night, with a 15% share, that’s about 120,000. Sign your name, and you’ll earn almost 620,000 right away. Future live streams with sales will continue to bring in shares. Think about it, with your capability, even with sales of just 100,000 a day, wouldn’t you pocket 15,000? Right? If you do this for a year, wouldn’t you pocket millions?”

Signing would mean getting 620,000, with shares following daily.

Critically, if he could build the streaming room’s popularity and train a successor, he could quit anytime.

Lu Li considered that after paying for his rental, he still had around 260,000.

With this 620,000, his assets would be nearly 900,000.

Thinking this, he looked up and said, ”President Liu, I can agree to host, but I have a condition.”

Hearing him agree, Liu Kexin was delighted, ”What is the condition?”

Lu Li brazenly stated, ”You saw last night’s stream, right? My traffic was massive, and you’re only offering a 500,000 signing bonus, isn’t that too little?”

Liu Kexin seemed to have expected this, ”I have another plan with a higher signing bonus.”

Lu Li’s eyes lit up, ”Let’s hear it.”

Liu Kexin smiled slightly, ”You sign a formal live-stream sales contract with the company, broadcasting at least five days a week, with an average sales per session not less than 200,000 each month. I can raise the signing bonus to 2 million for you.”

Average sales of 200,000 per session?

At least five live streams per week?

According to her terms, he needed 6 million in sales each month, and 72 million a year.

Thus a 2 million signing bonus didn’t seem much at all.

But, he’d still have a 15% share.

Perhaps agreeing could allow for negotiating the share further.

This meant, as long as he hit the targets, making over 10 million a year was feasible.

It seemed worth agreeing to by all accounts.

But Lu Li straightforwardly refused, ”I’m really not interested in hosting forever.”

He scoffed, thinking with his development of new superpowers, couldn’t he earn over 10 million in a year?

Claiming even a billion would be underestimating himself!

Why foolishly tie himself to the hosting position?

Liu Kexin was unsurprised, ”Then agree to the first plan. Once you sign, by the end of today, 620,000 will be wired to your account.”

Lu Li said, ”I can agree to the first plan, but still, I have a condition.”

Liu Kexin asked, ”What is it?”

Lu Li directly stated, ”I don’t guarantee that I’ll grow the streaming room or train a successor. If I decide to quit, you must accept my resignation anytime, like if I say tomorrow I want to stop, you have to approve.”

Liu Kexin couldn’t help furrowing her brows.

Lu Li observed her expression.

Understanding it’s a demanding request, she might not agree.

He simply did not want to be bound to the streaming position.

Thinking it over, Lu Li offered a concession, ”Of course, by making this request, I’m willing to give up some terms you previously promised. For instance, if I leave the company, the 15% share can be forfeited.”

Sure, if he really resigned, it’d be because he hit the jackpot; who’d care about that share?

Finishing this, he watched quietly to see if she’d agree.

After a brief contemplation, Liu Kexin promptly extended her hand, smiling, ”Alright, I agree to your terms!”

Huh?

She actually agreed?

Lu Li hadn’t expected her to accept his stringent demand!

Though he didn’t understand her reasoning, it was undeniable that 620,000 would be transferred by end of day, and he could resign anytime; it was definitely something to be happy about!

620,000 was about to be wired soon.

His cash assets were about to hit 880,000.

Lu Li couldn’t help feeling excited, considering if during the upcoming holiday he could earn an extra 100,000 to break the million mark for his cash assets.

Just as he was silently excited, Liu Kexin suddenly mentioned, ”After signing, the share will be disbursed monthly with your salary, unlike last night’s shares that were immediately transferred to your account.”

”Ha, President Liu, what do you take me for? Don’t you think I understand that bit of fiduciary wisdom?”

Lu Li earnestly replied, ”I understand your difficulties and am aware of the company’s current situation. Rest assured, I’m willing to selflessly dedicate myself to the company.”

Liu Kexin was deeply moved, ”Deputy Manager Lu, you...”

Before she could finish, Lu Li changed his tune, ”Just make sure the 620,000 is quickly transferred to my card. I can’t work for nothing.”

Liu Kexin: ”...”
