Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 66: Chapter 61: Listening to Inner Voices

Saturday, a day off today.

Last night, I co-hosted a livestream sales event with ”Blazing Beauty” again.

Perhaps it’s the news about me taking down over a dozen armed thugs single-handedly that’s been going viral online.

As soon as the broadcast started last night, countless viewers rushed into the livestream room.

At its peak, the number even reached around thirty thousand.

With a larger viewer base, sales also skyrocketed.

Last night’s sales reached 970,000, just one step away from breaking a million.

This achievement caused a huge stir within the company.

Manager Zhou and Vice Manager Lin, the heads of our department, were almost giddy with joy when they saw the data.

Lu Li also felt quite delighted, as judging by the split, he could get 145,000.

To be honest, if it weren’t for exposing some of my ”secrets”, I really wouldn’t want to leave this goldmine of a company.

No choice.

The secret’s out.

Better to leave the company.

In the train.

Lu Li is taking the train heading to Shanghai.

There are two things to do on today’s holiday:

First, buy a luxury car, buy some luxury goods.

Second, I have an appointment with Qin Liang to discuss cooperation.

Qin Liang is the tycoon who bought a hundred robot vacuum cleaners during my first livestream sales event, claiming to be in the Western fast-food chain business.

”It’s really inconvenient not having a car.”

Lu Li pondered while sitting by the window seat on the train, ”If I had a car, I could drive straight to Shanghai.”

The Camry is still under repair.

No choice, I had to take the train.

Thinking so, he turned his attention to the young woman lost in thought beside him.

This is a young woman wearing a black T-shirt, with ordinary looks and an average figure.

Typically, Lu Li, being a looks enthusiast, wouldn’t pay attention to someone with ordinary looks, but he still glanced over.

The main reason being, after a couple of nights developing a new skill, his ”mind-reading” superpower combo has finally shown some results.

Although the effect is quite weak, temporarily usable on only one person and consuming a lot of spiritual power, at least it’s been developed.

Naturally, Lu Li wanted to test how effective it was.

Thinking so, he focused his spiritual power on the young woman and activated the skill.

In the next moment, Lu Li felt like his spiritual power captured some kind of wave, then transformed it into sound, transmitting it into his consciousness.

An inner monologue vividly rushed into his mind.

”He does look really handsome, should I try to strike up a conversation?”

”No, I have a boyfriend...but he’s really handsome...if only I could get his WeChat...”

At first, the young woman’s internal monologue was relatively normal.

Moments later, the inner monologue turned a bit raunchy.

For instance, pondering whether I’m capable or not.

Wondering if I’m just a fake man.

Man, we’re just sharing the same train, and you think about that?

Lu Li nearly burst out laughing, thinking to himself, damn, you’re pretty dirty-minded.

Of course, I’m capable.

What man would claim he’s not?

He couldn’t stand the young woman and quickly deactivated the superpower.

Although it was only turned on for a brief moment, as soon as it was turned off, a sense of mental fatigue came over him.

”This skill consumes too much energy, best not to use it when there’s no need.”

Lu Li contemplated his superpower, ”Moreover, it’s only been superficially developed, allowing me to hear just one person’s inner voice at close range; if it’s over ten meters, I can’t hear it. Hmm, the range of the mind-reading superpower should be closely related to the range of spiritual power, also the strength of the spiritual power possibly determines how many people’s thoughts I can hear at once.”

The current range for controlling needles is about ten meters, and hearing thoughts is about the same.

Thus, Lu Li deduced that spiritual power is the ”core” of this superpower combo.

Seems I need to find a way to enhance my spiritual power.

Thinking this, he looked out the window again, ”Though the mind-reading has been developed, the shapeshifting superpower remains completely unresponsive.”

Could it be due to insufficient energy?

Lu Li thought that’s probably the case, ”I’ll meet Qin Liang for lunch later, let’s arrange it at a buffet so I can eat a lot, store more energy in my body, hopefully sparking the development of the shapeshifting superpower.”

...

Around 10 AM.

Shanghai, Waigaoqiao Porsche Center.

Lu Li looked with great interest at the tall, beautiful saleswoman, involuntarily recalling some online rumors.

There’s a saying that with each Porsche sold, a saleswoman is lost.

He didn’t know if this was true, as it was his first time buying a Porsche.

However, the saleswoman in front of him, who introduced herself as Ms. Zhu, had a very good attitude.

She didn’t look down on Lu Li for dressing so plainly.

After expressing his intentions, the saleswoman led Lu Li to the 911 sports car section.

The fair-skinned, beautiful saleswoman enthusiastically said, ”Currently, our Porsche 911s for sale are generally available in three models: Carrera-&-Targa, Turbo-S, and Dakar. Among them, Dakar is a race type that can legally be driven on the road.”

Whether it’s a race car or not didn’t matter to Lu Li.

He isn’t very knowledgeable about cars, and there’s only one concept for choosing: it has to be flashy enough.

Lu Li carefully compared them and found the Dakar model indeed very stylish.

Additionally, the Turbo-S model was even more handsome.

By contrast, the Carrera-&-Targa model looked somewhat ”lackluster.”

This was the model he originally wanted to buy since it’s cheaper, but seeing how sharp the other two models were, it no longer appealed to him.

He couldn’t decide which one to buy at the moment.

Lu Li gave it some thought, ”Could you tell me more about the performance of the Dakar and Turbo-S models?”

”Sure, Mr. Lu.” The saleswoman explained, ”The Turbo-S model is a six-cylinder car, with a displacement of 3,745 cc, a maximum power of 478 kW and 650 horsepower, engine speed... maximum torque... top speed of 330 km/h... body... capacity...”

She rattled off a whole bunch of detailed data.

Lu Li listened intently and found this series of cars really impressive.

Finally, the saleswoman said, ”The Turbo-S model starts at 2,363,000, including VAT.”

A bit pricey!

His total cash assets are only about 1,800,000.

To take it fully paid, counting insurance and such, he’d be short 700,000 or 800,000.

Lu Li hesitated for a moment, ”What about the Dakar model?”

The saleswoman went over the Dakar model’s specs again and mentioned the price, starting at 2,288,000, also including VAT.

Performance-wise, the Dakar seems somewhat inferior to the Turbo-S.

The most crucial part being, that’s just the base price.

If you add in options, it gets even more costly.

Of course, Lu Li couldn’t wait for custom options.

Based on his understanding of Porsche, if ordered with options, it would take at least three to six months to get the car.

In three to six months, God knows how much money he’ll have made.

By then, the odds are he could afford top luxury brands like Ferrari or Lamborghini.

Who’d still want a Porsche 911?

He asked casually, ”Which models are currently available in stock?”

The saleswoman paused, ”You’re not going for custom options?”

Lu Li said straightforwardly, ”Takes too long to wait for options, I can’t wait that long.”

The saleswoman didn’t say much more and said, ”Currently, there are two well-equipped models in stock, but both are Turbo-S series. One is Carmine Red, the other is Ruby Red Stardust, both convertible versions, priced just over 2,600,000, would you like to take a look?”

Whoa!

Priced just over 2,600,000?

Looking at it this way, my 1,780,000 or so is really not enough.

Though these cars include VAT, you’d still have to pay purchase tax, vehicle tax, registration fees, insurance, etc.

Probably, for a 2,600,000 car, you’d need at least over 3,000,000 once it’s on the road.

Lu Li pondered unless he makes another million or so, he could only go for an installment plan.

Thinking this, he said, ”Alright, show me.”

The saleswoman led Lu Li to two cars to view.

As soon as Lu Li entered the garage, he was completely captivated by the Carmine Red one.

As for the Ruby Red Stardust, it looked rather feminine.

Being a big guy, it seemed unsuitable for him to drive such a color.

Honestly, the Carmine Red convertible Porsche 911 Turbo-S looked absolutely stunning.

Lu Li thought that driving this car would surely catch the eyes of numerous beautiful girls.

He was immediately tempted.

But he didn’t have enough money.

After pondering for a while, Lu Li said, ”I’ll go back and think about it, maybe come back in a few days.”

”Sure, you can leave me your contact information, reach out if you need anything.”

The saleswoman smiled, taking out her phone.

Lu Li added her on WeChat and left his phone number.

Then, he left the Porsche center.

As he left, Lu Li was still pondering, trying to figure out how to make over a hundred thousand today?

Yes, although he told the saleswoman he’d come back in a few days, he was actually thinking about earning money right away.

But how could he make over a hundred thousand in a day?
