Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2462 Arriving At The Starting Point

In a vast expanse located inside the mountain ranges was a massive structure stretching to the skies. However, it had already collapsed and broken, many fragments laying or flying over the vast expanse like they were some ancient ruins.

There were quite a number of people present here, simply having formed many camps as they waited for a certain individual. They were all immortals without question, their undulations plain for anyone to see.

At this moment, a spatial disturbance appeared at the center of the ruins. A crack appeared in space before it transformed into a vortex, enlarging inch after inch before it became as large as a nine-meter tall circular gate.

Compared to the big vortex, a tiny figure stepped out of it.

It was a woman. She wore a violet robe with intricate black rose patterns and a red veil on her face. Her black hair lightly shook as she stepped out of the vortex three steps before she couldnʼt help but narrow her black eyes.

”This is…”

Why was the area misty and obscure? Was it supposed to be like this? Just as she thought in doubt, she cast a look behind her to see if the vortex was still present but abruptly saw a purple-robed man blurred by the mist. Her eyes went wide in shock, not knowing where he had come from.

Had he followed her from her world? That was not possible.

But before she could even raise her arm halfway, a hand clasped her face and sealed her mouth.

”Mhm!~”

She screamed, her eyes revealing terror, but her screams were muffled before she suddenly felt her consciousness fade into the realm of darkness. She tried to stay awake, but it was of no use.

*Whoosh!~*

Suddenly, she disappeared from the location she stood, causing the purple-robed man to take his arm back and rub his palm on his shoulder.

ʼA timely help from a fellow ascender, but why did it have to be a woman…? Oh, well. Youʼre only going to be trapped with me for a while...ʼ

Davis inwardly sighed as he took a step forward and walked out of the mist that he had created using an illusion.

The people outside had their eyes on the center of the ruins all the time. Even if they were lazy or frolicking, as soon as the undulations of a spatial vortex appeared, they would instantly turn to see, but this time around, their eyes only gazed upon a misty vortex.

”Pfft~”

Someone actually created a grand entrance, causing them to laugh lightly.

It was like a splash of refreshment in their boring task of watching over the ascenders. They were only tasked to capture ascenders from the Grand Beginnings Continent to extract more information about the Emperor of Death. However, as days passed, the number of ascenders from the Grand Beginnings Continent was becoming lesser and lesser and mostly irrelevant.

A few of them didnʼt even know the Emperor of Death to say even after being soul searched, apparently having ascended from mini realms within the Grand Beginnings Continent.

Thus, with little results, they were extremely bored, but their eyes suddenly turned wide as they saw a purple-robed man step out. His blonde hair and sapphire eyes instantly caused their hearts to tremble, their laughs coming to a stop.

”It… itʼs you…”

It was unknown who said that, but instantly, every immortal stood up from their position of rest and glanced at Davis with incomparable shock. Quickly, they took out their messaging talismans like loyal servants and used them, sending word of him back to their powers.

Meanwhile, Davis shot a full glance from his left to right, noticing and recognizing the features of the immortals. However, he felt that there were fewer people than expected.

ʼFigures that many wouldnʼt stay the more time it takes for me to appear...ʼ

The numbers didnʼt match the account Mival Silverwind gave him. It seems most of the experts have returned, and only the scouts with a lesser cultivation base remained.

Moreover, he also saw the traitors from the Grand Beginnings Continent at a glance and managed to recognize them.

Were they being held here because they are being held accountable in case they lied?

ʼHow ironic…ʼ

Davis couldnʼt help but chuckle.

Seeing them grin at him with schadenfreude, he couldnʼt help but even pity them.

ʼRight now, they must be thinking that they would finally be rewarded with riches?ʼ

Considering that these bastards didnʼt even have a Perfected Mortal Immortal Vessel, it was an obvious choice for their powers to abandon these fools who tried to make a quick profit by selling him out.

No matter where someone went, betrayers were never appreciated, much less respected. By selling him out, they have essentially betrayed the Grand Beginnings Continent. Although it was an exaggeration, it was only through his actions was the Grand Beginnings Continent saved from the Vacuous Beast Invasion, so he should more or less be their savior even if he was unknown to them.

Still, there were Level Seven Immortal Stage Experts in his senses, causing him to sneer.

”Today, I, Davis Alstreim, have ascended. I didnʼt expect such a grand welcome from so many immortal powers, but it was as expected. What kind of cowards are you, wanting to trap an immortal here right after ascendance?”

”Alright, alright. Cut the crap and humble yourself before you get hurt.”

A crimson-robed man sneered at Davis while a cacophony of snickers echoed with interest.

Davis saw that the clothing that the crimson-robed man wore looked similar to the guards he saw in the West Fire Phoenix Prefecture. Was it someone from there?

”Respected guest, donʼt step out!”

Suddenly, an azure-white robed man uttered with urgency in his voice before he transformed into a white-winged wolf, his undulations dwelling at Level Seven Immortal Beast Stage.

”Although the monuments were broken because of powerful immortals, it could still provide some protection to you from Mid Stage Immortals and above as youʼre an ascender. Wait till the forces of our Starlight Jade Wolf King appears so that you could leave safely from this place!”

”…!”

The expressions of the Mid Stage Immortals fell while the Early Stage Immortals glared at that white-winged wolf scout with enmity.
